For someone who flies a drone because he/she likes drones, I can understand that waterproofing is not so important. From the point of view of a photographer or videographer who uses a drone as a tool - a flying camera - weather resistance is crucial. For landscape, wildlife and outdoor photographers weather proofing is a major selling point when they pick up a new camera or a lens. Changeable weather, stormy clouds, snow, fog and even rain give you the best conditions for epic or moody photographs. So yes, weather proofing is important.

It's when you have a downpour after you take off that I need protection from. Been a few cases where it looks fantastic scenery and you take off only for it to start raining 10 mins into the flight and you don't get enough time to land before it starts.
Plus I'm from the UK,😁. It always grey and you can never tell when it will start raining. Which is most of the time😂

I'd be interested in waterproof in case my drone crashes into water. Clouds, fog and lack of visibility almost always make flying in rain/snow against the 107 rules

I do disagree about one of your last points, weatherproofing. I do not want to fly on the rain but I do want that assurance that if there is all the sudden heavy rain, my drone will be just fine for a minute or so while I land it. There are some spectacular views just before storms with a small window of time to make recording possible. So, it is not about flying on a rain, is about being OK if you were caught on a rain while returning in it home. There is a bit of weather resistance they say on the Mavics but I never risk it. As for the other points, absolutely spot on. For me low light camera improvements would be one of the biggest wishes. Cellular connectivity would be amazing too (for my use not so much, but it would be amazing anyway) Battery life I think is pretty good as it is, but if they manage to increase the flight time without making the drones heavier, I am all up for that. Finally, excellent video as usual. Thank You.

weatherproofing would actually be nice because bad weather can lead up to some beautiful cinematic results. Also for the mini series would love to see the props to be revamped...end the days of stripping the screws. :(

For flight over water, waterproofing has merit... Also "tiny air bladders" (inside the drone arms?) to keep it buoyant "just in case!" 😉

I still love the form factor and they could easily put on beefed up cameras without the expense inherent on the on larger enterprise type drones like the M200-300+ series or the Inspire series. I love DJI but your competition point is extraordinarily valid. Keep up the good work!

I actually use RID as a benefit. I fly in the front yard so that all Karens can see me & when they come up to tell me not to fly over their land I inform them that the Karen-apps offer my RID# to the public so they should report my behavior instead of harassing me about them not knowing how to read. My State has Privacy-laws written in such a harmful manner that it created a drone-hate-culture where even my Constable is telling people not to return crashed drones b/c the photos on the drone might be illegal, I think he & his Karens have hookworms in their brains.

As a photographer who flies almost exclusively at dusk or dark, I support bigger sensors, though I'm pretty happy with the m43 sensor we have now. I think an APS-C sensor would be hard in the current form factor, especially if you want to keep the multiple focal lengths. But I'm sure the technology exists, and I'd pay for it.
I'd also pay for more weather resistance. As someone who came from the sports photography world, I didn't have a choice not to shoot in the rain, and it resulted in some of my best photos. I'd love the opportunity to do that from the air.

Hey Russ, sending good vibes and prayers to you and your family. Thank you very much for the video and content.
My list is more of a guess. First, an Air 3s with one inch sensor from pocket 3 but way better than the pocket 3's 9.1mp maybe true 20mp. 4k 60:4k100-200fps 1080p 400fps O4 transmision ect maybe O4+. Definitely some type of Avata 2 could be smaller. Maybe an RC Pro2 or more compatibly to the RC Pro. It's a great controller. Definitely LTE feature would be good, the Air 3 already has provisions inside for it. I'm sure there's stuff I forgot to add.

They'll pay 1800$ for an iPhone but want double the features on a drone for under 1000$. I've had 3 Sparks, 2 Mavic Pros an Air 2and currently an Air 2s, all bought mint condition second hand. But this year the Air 3s will be my first new drone.

Great wish list. I want to add 2 more to your wish list:
    1. Fail proof 100% tracking capability. The mini 4 pro active track is pretty good but it is not 100% yet for my use. I do dog agility, a sports that requires the handler to run and to change directions and speed and positions on an agility course often and abruptly. Current active track 360 will lost track of me when the environment and my clothes don’t have great contrast, in low light situation or when there is lots of sun shadow.
    2. I also want a drone with a camera that use AI to zoom in and out (situational) on the tracked subject. Filming on a single wide angle lens is good when the subject is close to the drone but when the subject is at distance, I become a very small moving subject on the video.

Nice thought and wants. With the DJI Avata - how about Avata2 and Avata2 mini? Then go with Air3c (cine), Air3s (sport), Air3R (rugged), and Air3L (lite or SE at lower price but same size)? The color options would be good. There’s already a market for stickers that cover the drone how you want. I look forward to what this year brings for drones. Nicely done!

But that's something only a subset of buyers would want.
In the US, it seems to me so many users drive to their location, then take off right from their car (well, truck, if we're honest). Sure, a hardcase makes sense in a scenario where you want to protect your drone when you throw it in the back of the truck and then don't have to lug it around.
For me, while I sometimes do drive to my fly spot, I am rarely in a position to take off where I park up. For me, a soft shoulder bag or a backpack is the way to go. So, adding that cost to a fmc package, no thanks.

My wish list… 1st: An orange drone looking like the DJI Avata FPV, but floating waterproofed (like the orange SPRY drone) fitted with several cameras on a DJI Avata “lookalike” drone that’s capable of “swimming” and take off from / land on water. Googles and controllers need not be any different from the Avata.
2nd: A stereo microphone jack so the various drones can be used as remote controlled or handheld video recorders. Why not?
3rd: A easy removable lens assembly so that various lenses can become available, including telephoto lenses.
4th: A optional landing only pad that will communicate “here I am with IR.?” to the drone so it will perform a controller initiated precise landing on a moving boat or car. When landed it will be retained by a strong magnet. Only a landing pad so take-off by hand or from a “dumb pad”
5th: The return button / stop button will also “freeze” the drone so it is more easy to hand catch.
6th: Future mobile network 5G connection if legally possible. Probably not. :-(

I only saw one other comment out of all these comments that mentioned it, but i really need skydio level tracking from DJI. As a solo creator doing motorcycle content, it is one of the most important features to me. The reason i am not selling my Air 2s, even though i really want the other features of the Air 3, is because Litchi with DJI does not work with the Air 3, and Litchi + Dji is the best solution i currently have for tracking me on my motorcycle. Concerning though that others, or you, really care about this. Tells me DJI probably doesn't care either.

Can you help me with a question regarding "no fly zones."? I have gone through the proper channels and have approval and downloaded the license to my controller and drone. My question is do I have to begin the flight in the zone that I have approval? My problem is I take off in a non restricted area but fly into a restricted zone. My drone stops flying even though I have the GEO feature turned on. Thanks

I am flying the mini4pro a lot lately, and even though it is packed with features, it does not have video quality even close to my air2s. I am waiting for a mavic4pro to hopefully have a stacked sensor and of course it will work with this newer Occusync like in Air3 and Mini4. The signal is just perfect. But if I see Mavic 4 Pro to be a long wait, I might settle for some Air3s temporarily😅

Until we see the introduction of some groundbreaking new battery, OA, camera or toroid propeller technology we appear to have neared the pinnacle of consumer drone technology for the time being.

I would like to see inter-gated lighting from the factory. Not just the lighting on the arms but on top, bottom, and rear of the drone. I am a first time drone owner. Got a DJI Mini 3 on Christmas Eve. My biggest complaint is the lack of lighting. For us let’s say late to the game older people it would be great to be able to see the drone easily when it’s in the air for some of us older folks.

As a nature photographer, I have to disagree about the importance of weatherproofing since some of the most dynamic light comes at the tail end or right after a storm. It would be nice to have the confidence to fly a drone in these conditions.

Yeah weather proofing would be great, there so many shots like flying in when it's snowing like the big wet snowflakes would be beautiful the ones that stick to the trees, I fly in when it's the really cold snow that just bounce off but I'd love to fly without worry if it starts raining or there's a shot I just want to have to change it up. And I believe weather proofing would be awesome to have

I want a waterproof drone not for flying in the rain, but the ability to float and handle water while shooting footage during water sports, kayaking etc. I also would like to see a drone from DJI that can be operated without a remote. Lastly, Im waiting for an Avata that is just as quite as my mini 4 pro.

I would love to have a Mavic 4 that has a rotational camera like the Mini 3/4 drones....with the 24mm and 70mm. D-log and d-log M in slow motion and night mode. Also 5k60 since right now all we get with Mavic series is 5.1k30
