Rise of the Creature from the Black Lagoon 1954 (Digital Photo Restoration)

Two men played the creature in the original film; Ricou Browning was filmed for all the underwater shots, and Ben Chapman was filmed for all the parts taking place out of the water or on land. Ricou was said to have been able to hold his breath underwater for up to four minutes at a time, but, as Ricou said in a 2013 interview, "If you’re swimming fast or fighting, you use up a lot of oxygen, and it cuts it down to, at the most, TWO minutes".

He scared the heck outta me when I watched the movie as a little kid on Saturday night's Chiller Thriller Theatre on Saturday night tv, back in the early '70s. I had to be real quiet because I'd snuck downstairs to watch while my folks were asleep. Did it for years. Never got caught. lol
