  • In this video, I'll show you how to fix a cracked ceramic housing on a classic Jetboil backpacking stove. If you are clicking the piezo and you are not seeing a spark, this is usually the problem. The fix is easy so don't buy a new ignition just yet!

Thank you! I had given up. My ceramic piece was fine. I just needed to bend the metal to create a bigger arc.

Jet boil has discontinued parts for the original model YEARS AGO. I have not been able to find an igniter for over 4 years,,, I trashed my Jet Boil and moved on the Fire-Maple

Sorry to hear that. I saw the new Fire Maple stoves recently. How are they? Jet boil really changed a lot of their materials to less durable formulas over the past decade and that left a large void for people longing for more reliable stoves. Is Fire Maple using quality materials?

I was unable to buy a new piezo for my old stove. I gave it away and bought a new one. Wish I saw this first.

Sorry to hear that! We'll, I'm sure your new stove will give you new opportunities for repairs! Seems to be the going rate on newer stoves.

Thanks; you've perfectly identified my issue (cracked ceramic); what tape did you use?

I have a newer model. The piezo is in the flame portion not beside it. Doesn’t look the the flame part screws off like yours does. Any idea how to fix this type?

In some of the newer models, you can bend the piezo wire upright. You then detach the piezo from below by removing the cotter pin or cotter washer and slide it down through the burner. At that point, you should be able to unscrew the the module and work on it freely. Hope this helps.
