Nice fix
Awesome thanks 🙏
So glad it helped! Thank you.
Off to the hardware store.
@@thegarbone did it end up working out for you?
This worked perfectly for me. I tested folding the poles with the clamp on, before cutting the cord. This way I could find the right length to cut off.
@@antioxidanter that’s great! I’m so glad it helped. See you on the trail!
Is a patch over the seam grip not necessary?
Not if it’s a small pinhole leak. If it’s a larger hole/tear, then a patch is warranted. Hope this helps!
@@outdoorgearrepair9187 thank you, I did this yesterday and problem solved.
@@AlwaysOutdoorsyawesome! So glad it worked.
If a patch is required will it stick to thr gear aid @@outdoorgearrepair9187
Thanks!
Thanks for this vid, how long did it last for on the outside, is it still okay? Thanks
This might help other troubleshooters: The flame on my Mini Mo was erratically slipping out the sides and melting the sleeve, burning inefficiently. I snipped the filter as suggested and still no luck. I used an air compressor and blasted the little perforated top element a few times (with the stove OFF) and now she’s running good again.
That exact thing happened to my friend. That is so good to know that it’s a matter of cleaning out the perforations. It makes total sense that if they are obstructed, the flame will decide to look elsewhere. Thank you so much for that excellent info!
Thanks from the uk
Welcome!
Good luck with the 2nd screw. Still a great stove though.
Got it loose with a pair of needle nose.
I hate to be this guy but....Your mask fogs because, during the manufacturing process, the lenses get coated with a thin layer of silicone. The anti-fog isn't working because it binds to the silicone layer, not the glass. Rubbing your finger on the glass with force removes the silicone layer. Some people burn it off (not recommended on modern silicone masks), some use commercial lens scrubs, and some use toothpaste. It's all doing the same thing, removing the silicone layer. There are many videos available about this. It has nothing to do with the "micro fissures of the glass."
Thanks for the science behind the magic. I appreciate learning so no love lost.
Amazing! This works
Good vid, Thanks! But I prefer to spray with Windex. Allows you to check sections one at a time. I also use eyeliner to mark around the hole (dots/lines, not a circle for me), since a Sharpie/related or other pen often won't mark when the pad is wet with water and/or windex. Unless you yourself use eyeliner, ask before doing this with a friend/partner's eyeliner... It can be expensive! The cheap stuff works fine here though. Note that eyeliner is more permanent on the pad than Sharpie in this contex, although it will eventually wear off. But it works amazing to mark the wet pad! Do mark as small a spot as possible, but not within where you wan to do the repair. Eyeliner is usually oil based, so some repair glue won't stick to it. Cheers!
Nice! I’m super excited to try the windex!
Does the seam seal crack when the mat is rolled up?
No. It remains flexible for many years, so no worries!
Nice video. Thanks!
Thank you I'm gonna try this out.
Please do! I think you’re going to love the results. Thanks for watching!
Many thanks for this awesome clip. Would any dishwashing liquid work?
I would guess a more concentrated variety would be better but I think any will work pretty well.
Nice video, friend. That's the diaphragm for your pressure regulator.
Thank you. I've had some great commentary since posting and have learned a bit thanks to others like you. Thank you.
@@gotimejessemaloney5999 I've just discovered your other channel. It looks like you're from Northern Minnesota?
Thanks . Just got a used one gifted an missing the connectors an the center pole
Right on. I bet you'll be able to get it back on the trail. I have another vid that shows you how to make a substitute pole for a trekking pole that might be helpful in replacing the center pole. You'll just need to find a way to get two male connectors on the each end which shouldn't be too difficult with a bit of ingenuity. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
Here another one that is gonna replace his valve 😂🎉
That part of the unit is a pressure regulator and maintains a constant pressure to the valve. That thing you called a "pressure regulator" is actually a valve.
Thank you! I was at a serious loss. Glad you came along.
Do you think this would work for a busted seam? (I have one with a 6-7inch blown out side seam…. Guess I may just have to try it and tag you in it if it works or not 😁
Yes! I’ve done it before. What I did fort the repair is seam grip it, clamp it down with foam and rulers and then when it dries, I’ve sewn the edge with a sewing machine and added extra sealant over the threads. Works well.
What would you recomend for leaks around the seams on the sides...where the stitching is heat sealed?
I would go for gear aid seam grip if you’re patching a smaller area. If you’re doing the entire circumference, “Lexel” by sashco diluted to 50% would be the next best bet. When using mineral spirits to dilute, be sure to use the classic formula low odor and not the “green” better for the environment version. The latter does not chemically react well with the adhesive.
In addition, I have recently run the seam of the pad through a sewing machine and then glued over the stitched seam. This prevents the seam from coming apart again. Worked well.
Thx a lot for the introductions! My minimo fuel line was obstructed too and following your instructions made it work again! Much appreciate the details provided in this video, great job!
Great to hear! So glad it was of use to you.
Thank you, man! That was my problem.
Awesome! So glad it was a quick fix.
That looks just like the insides of the autoshutoff valve on my RO system. What this does is that if the pressure on one side of the rubber piece exceeds the part in the feed side, it shuts off the flow. I would guess in this case it would also prevent a flashback of gas from getting back to the canister. I haven't tried taking one apart myself, but my guess is that there is actually a clog somewhere past that part and because the pressure is getting too high on the burner side, it is shutting off the gas by pressing on the membrane. If my suspicion is correct, I wouldn't recommend modding the springs as this is increasing the max pressure in the stove end which could become a problem if the clog let's go down the road.
Thank you for that insightful comment. I love learning about the mechanical functions of things that are outside of my current understanding. I appreciate it and hope it helps others as well!
Hi will try this tks
Let us know how it goes!
When I tried this, the shock cord was too tight. So when you went to fold up the poles, the last few wont fold. Since the elasticity is worn out, the cord doesn't stretch at each fold. You end up fighting between having enough slack to fold it up but tight enough to hold it together when extended.
Yikers! That’s some worn out cord! In that case, you might order some new cord on Amazon @$7.50, or splice in a short 6 inch segment from another source if you have it. www.amazon.com/Coghlans-Replacement-Shock-Cord-Tents/dp/B0000E0QX5/ref=asc_df_B0000E0QX5/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216518324822&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2082274257236003953&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1019973&hvtargid=pla-350776963863&psc=1
Thank you so much! I had this exact same issue (which I found out about in the middle of a backpacking trip, RIP) and this fixed it immediately
Awesome! So glad it helped!
I am still going to have to remove the flaky tape. ARGH!
Yeah, sometimes it’s just a huge dandruff mess in the tent. A toilet bowl brush tends to work well along with a high powered hose. You can pitch the tent inside out and spray it while you scrub.
I have an old Jetboil ZIP burner assembly Model D11D, I need the brass fitting that fits inside the canister attachment
Do you mean the little brass point that inserts into the fuel canister when you screw it on (sort of looks like the inside of a tire stem on a bike?)
Which tape did you use?
The dog sound was funny.
thank you for showing this!
Hope it helps. I'll look for your awesome patch job on the trail!
Is the Dewalt 6mm deep socket (on your desk always) on the table to be able to remove the nozzle of the Windmaster?
Yes, but I realized that I wouldn't need it for the repair.
Thank you! my garage sale jetboil works now!
So awesome! That made my day.
This is a real test!
Man- I know this is a year old, but you just saved me some money. I appreciate the effort and video. Thank you ✌️
Hey, glad the trick still works!
excellent
Thanks! Happy and clear diving to you!
Great video, thanks. Your address is visible on your package, might want to blank that out.
So glad you found it helpful.
Thank you, brother!! Had this issue a time or two... I'll get some of those washers and carry a spare in my pack,. just in case!
How well did the lacing loops last? And in general, any issues to report now? Did it wear down quickly?
Bad ass
Yea, this man is manning
Had exactly the same problem.
Another success, thanks so much! Again, it seems it just needed a wipe down and then started working a treat.
Awesome! Glad it was of use!
excelente! abraços do brasil *hugs from Brazil
I have an xterm and xlite both have the same valve and use the same pump sack. I agree the sack is hard to put on, much harder than my nemo pad. I don't think it's necessary to shave away at the pump sack connection, I found it helps to squeeze the sides of the pump sack connector and it pops out. You can also use a "flextailgear" usb recharable mini air pump from amazon, it's light weight and game changer. It can pump up the pad and deflate it. It's heavier to carry 2 pump sacks.
Awesome. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions!
Cheers! My brass fitting had a bit of gunk covering the top, bit of ultra fine steel wool to the top and then took out the filter bit and poked at it with a sewing needle to clear the tiny hole and all good now! Piezo sparks but doesn’t light, a lighter does the trick
Thanks!
Sweet! Hope it helps. Seems to work like a charm every time.
