I didn’t even think of celebrating birthdays in the air. Turns out we are going to Thailand later this year on Qsuites and the onward journey is on my wife’s birthday and return journey is on my birthday 😄

Thanks for making me laugh again! Serena, I’m going to say nonstop is better. It’s such a short flight, why risk doing a layover and 2 flights, boarding, getting off, etc. IF it was nonstop biz, then the biz for sure 😂 I did a few budget airlines around Asia last summer (Air Asia, etc.), it all was totally fine. Honestly, felt like service was still better than the service in the US domestic flights :P More importantly, able to get to the destination earlier to enjoy.

Was also in Melbourne during the first day of AO. We loved the city, our favorite in our trip Down Under. Such a foodie town as well. It was our first time, so we did the obligatory Great Ocean Road roadtrip, loved it! Too bad we missed Mitch, but will see you and Serena in next month’s meetup
For Serena’s question, I’d say it depends. If you’re flush with points, go with Eva, otherwise economy in a 2 hr flight is not too bad, and the points can be saved for another, longer trip.

Nicole, need some Costa Rica advise. Booked for Andaz Papagayo in Sept, do we just stay at the resort or go to daytrips. Should we add nights at Tabacon Thermal Resort?

Great episode! I too am taking the long route (but to Asia) just to fly Q-Suites. 😂. SFO-DOH-BKK. I also took the 6 hour layover instead of the 2 hour layover. Now Miguel has me really curious about the 1st class lounge. I don't anticipate needing a room to sleep in, what else would you say makes the lounge upgrade worth it? (Question for Miguel if possible)
We’ll ask Miguel to respond. For your first time, Al Mourjan will be more than sufficient for your layover. It’s a beautiful lounge. For next time, book a connecting flight to the Middle East (AUH, DXB, MCT, or AMM) and that leg on Qatar should code as First, giving you access to the Al Safwa First lounge.

Personally, I can only justify paying if looking to get a room since you'll have your own shower and can take a quick nap. The dining is all included as well and complimentary.

Serena, I would much rather get to Okinawa faster and get some rest in Japan. To me, it's not worth the extra miles, time and energy to transfer in Taipei for such a short flight, especially when you have taken so many business class flights. BTW, HongKonger here, so let me know if you need some recommendations of things to do in Hong Kong! Have fun! 😄

This time, we're spending most of the time hanging out with friends in Shenzhen. Then a quick one night in HK before flying to OKA.
