Applied this to my late Dad's '06 S500 as I plan to keep this kinda-one-owner massive sports car for a while. God Bless Dad. My reservoir had separated and was leching slowly at the seam creating little stalagmites. Replacing that reservoir was a snap for $50.
Hi , another great video. Thank you . I want to ask if its possible to remove the under body covers without a jack ? And doing the coolant change with out jack? And what is the screwdriver for the covers? Thanks again
Watched your video and was easily able to replace the coolant. Only issue I am having is it's not throwing hot air (you really have to crank it full HOT HOT) to get decent heat and slightly overheating a bit. Any suggestions? I am suspecting I may have incorrect coolant dilution ratio. How can I rectify that or properly bleed the system? Thanks
If you followed my procedure, you should have a mix very close to 50/50 What is the mileage on your car? Perhaps your thermostat is going bad. I have a video on replacing that as well.
@@masood-tv About 115k. It was fine before the flush. I will give another try to bleed out air. If not thermostat sounds like a cheap fix. Another of your videos to follow. Thanks again

Hey Massod, if I want to change the radiator hose and I need to drain the coolant, do I have to replace the red drain plug cap with a new one or I can just put the old one back on?
tried to remove the radiator drain plug but it broke. I drilled it and removed it. When I replaced it with a new drain plug, water is leaking from the litlle black hose next to the red drain plug. What can I do to fix the problem?
Hi, im doing this same right now. First of all i don't drain hole. When i open the red screw(in my car it is black) the coolant is draining from the screw hole. And it is very slow drop and drop. I'm doing this because there was yellow smudge in my coolany for past 2 days . So it increased and I wanted to do this.
How do you let the air go out? Just by turning the heat on or also by revving to 2000 rpm, if so can you start the engine even if there is air in the system?
@@mbz4652 I don't have access to a W210 and cannot remember...if it has the same spliced tube to the reservoir, then the answer is yes. Otherwise, you can bleed it by opening the reservoir cap while the engine is on and squeezing the upper radiator hose...
Hi, it's kinda late but with this flush method, does total amount of old coolant drained must be exact same amount of new coolant to the tank? I'm very confusing that first I've drained exactly 2 gallons of old coolant then flushed with 2 gallons each with distilled water 4 times, all drained 2galllons each flush. but when I actually fill new mixed coolant+ distilled water, the total went in 2.5 gallons and the level was right between black and white line on the container. Also coolant level low light came on with only 2 gallons filled in the tank. I also Started the engine to normal temperature, revved to 2500 rpm,. heater was full high and fan also came on at 90 C○...... Next morning with engine cold, the level was still between the line. Does it matter if amount you drained different than fill new coolant or has to be equal amount of 2 gallons? My car is 2001 e320 W210, I really appreciate your advice. Thank you!
Hi JJ - After all the flushing of old coolant and distilled water is done, add 1.5 Gallons of concentrated coolant. Then add more distilled water until the marker on reservoir. As it settles, it may show low again. Simply fill until marker with more distilled water. Total volume of concentrated should be 1.5 gallons. The remainder will be distilled water or whatever is left of old very diluted coolant.
How many degree is for the max normal engine temp...? My 2002 W220 reach a litle bit below 100 without any malfunction indicator showing up, do i need to do coolant flush?
Hi Ahmad, the engine temperature depends on the condition of the fan, coolant pump, outside temperature, the load on the engine, speed, quality of the coolant, etc...If you have not replaced your coolant in the last couple of years or 30K miles, I strongly suggest you do a flush. Below 100 degrees Fahrenheit is normal though...
Hi tere m - I wouldn't advise that. I have never used it and don't know if it will not damage the temp sensor or other components while it may clean the radiator.
Thanks for the video. I just bought an 03 S500. Question I have is they guy I bought it from said it's been sitting for over 6 months but I'm sure it's been longer. It's also been sitting with possibly my guess tap water. Could be wrong. But if he filled it up before bringing it to me and it's now been sitting for about a week with possibly tap water will it harm it? I'm going to do what you did on the video but I'm waiting on a lower radiator hose I ordered. It leaks or pours out when the hose pops off since it's missing that metal lock clip. So hopefully its been like that for awhile without water. If you could let me know if it'll be fine I'd really appreciate it!
Hi purestress2 - no harm if you plan to drain it all out per the video and replace with distilled water and MB coolant. You may have to flush it a couple more times than I did just to be sure with distilled water (1 buck per gallon).
Hi Shaung1231, no, it is from experience and the MB workshop manual. The procedure would be the same for your car. You just need to determine the total volume of coolant for your model.
Also sorry for the questions but I noticed you didn't bleed it. Is there a bleed valve some where or did just use the cap off technique and squeeze the hose? That's what I do.
Hi purestress2 - if you watch the video starting at 42nd second, you will see the bleeding red nipple in the bottom right of the radiator (looking towards the front of the car).
@@masood-tv I know this is late, but bleeding the coolant system of air is a different procedure. The red bleeding nipple is the petcock, which drains 75% of coolant from the engine. To bleed, the system of air, you need to first flush the car with distilled water 2 or 3 times, then fill with 50/50 coolant/water, then let the car run, and watch the air bubbles escape through the coolant tank with the cap off. When no more bubbles, top off coolant and reseal cap.
Hi Rodeo, thanks for the comment. Mercedes dealers typically recommend flushing it every 2 years or 30K miles. The owners manual on page 398 recommends that the coolant be replaced every 3 years. I recommend every 30K miles as a compromise. You may be right but I guess it depends on every individual's appetite for risk. Fresher coolant keeps the engine optimally cool. Excessive heat is not good for any engine. So, that is just my 2 cents...
Thanks, Russ. I am hoping I can talk in future videos...some of the reasons I haven't thus: planning what to say, editing, etc...I also don't own a good mic which is really a big reason my videos are silent.

Thanks for the step by step instructions typed on the screen. Newer model Mercedes requires coolant change around every 15 year or 130k miles.

Sure, Amir, you don't need to jack the car up. You will need a wrench and a small socket set.
Great video!! Thanks for taking the time to film/edit and for sharing..
You are most welcome.
