      I love living up here. Definitely beautiful. I have polished knives in the past but I don't do very many. Just outside of my market. But I always used a variable speed buffer locked in a vice and used my stainless polishing buffs from goshineon.com to finish them up to a mirror.

    I only just started polishing with a bench grinder and the josco wheels and compound. They were working mint as out the box but after a couple days of polishing rocker covers and intercooler piping I am geting more and more hazyness than I was at the start. The wheels are pretty gunked up with wax so that could be why. Didn't know rakes were a thing but I think I'll give it a shot and see if it fixes my issue

    I bought a buff of every colour. The red ones seem VERY stiff. Like a grinding disk.

      Red is specifically designed for stainless to withstand the heat. Can also be used on aluminum. But yes it's stiff. The orange is a little bit softer but still rigid enough for a great cut.

    Buffing aluminum I get a lot of black streaks that is hard to remove. Any ideas easier and faster than a clean white rag and elbow grease?

      What kind of black streaks? From buffing or from hand polishing?

    • @JohnDavis-yz9nq
      @JohnDavis-yz9nq 5 лет назад

      Evan Steger I use a buffer on a stand. Baldor buffers. Trying to mirror polish aluminum.

      Evan Steger acetone cleans it but dulls the finish. I use a blue and green compound.

      Evan Steger I guess what I’m trying to say is it gums up in places .
