I’m a farmer’s daughter from The Netherlands and my mother and grandmother taught me all they knew about plants, stars etc. As a kid I wasn’t too interested, but the last few years, I’ve dedicated much of my time to my kitchengarden, foraging, making tinctures, oils and soaps, and it’s a big part of my existence, helping many others too.
I really like you and the way you teach!

last year, just when covid starting getting bad, elderberry magically appeared right outside the front door. She offered the precise measure of berries necessary to make a couple pints of elderberry syrup. This year she is gigantic. tiny florets are budding all over. very exciting. thanks for vid. I will tincture some this year.

I am new to all this and absolutely love it and just learning. Would appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you so much

Best to use the dried elderberries for tea as you will miss out on a lot of their healing properties making a tincture with dried. I would start looking along creek beds and kind of open but somewhat moist fields you'll likely find elderberries growing and then be able to harvest some come fall ☺️

We washed ours & do it by drying then boiling with 2 part honey & 7 part water.
Have grown & worked with elderberries for 2.5 decades & haven't had any need of doc visit since, clearing chronic bronchitis & diabetes, med free right through. Strongly feel (know!) these & mulberries are better healing than any pHARMaceuticals.
We shall try this method next time, but still shall wash & remove debris first of course 😊✌🏾🌸

I know this was a year ago but it's August again...2023 and I live in Southeast Louisiana as well. My elderberries popped out early too and started drying up (100 degree temps here) so I picked a few branches that had purple berries and froze them. I still see a few with green berries so I am patiently waiting. The birds have planted elderberry seeds in the roots of my crepe myrtle tree so I have a few branches growing nicely right along with the crepe myrtles and a couple more popped up in my flower garden. First time I will be making syrup. I hope I didn't pick them too soon but worried they will dry up. How are yours this year?

In Sweden we use vodka 40%alcohol, IF we cant find that att THE moment we use a Swedish brand with 37% alkohol.
And when we make propolis tincture( from inside THE bee hives) we use 95%alkohol. Not so easy to get hold of. I Will direkt watch your tincture video. You are absolutely One of My favourite herbalists!!

Super video, I've just picked around 15 or so pounds of elderberry and was planning on making syrup with honey and ginger, I think I'll also make a tincture. Thanks for being human.
Love all your videos...., because I am smart enough to do this.
