    Our transit is a mid-roof. yes, my head touches the top and I have to tilt my head a bit. I'm 5'10". The high roof would have been nice, but I didn't like how taller it was. I didn't want to be too large for those crazy dirt roads with overhanging branches and stuff.

    I’m 6’1, 6’2 with shoes on. Def need the high roof. Even though the transit connect is in the price range

    I want to try to put a taller roof on a ford sprinter connect. I’m 5’7” with shoes on so I think headroom wouldn’t be too much an issue it’s just tough trying to find a cost effective way to do it. I can’t seem to find a fiberglass roof the dimensions of the sprinter. I thought about paying a auto body specialist to cut and raise roof and maybe add long horizontal slider windows at the top but it’s gonna be costly. I also thought about pop up but they aren’t too warm(I’m in northern east US) And as far as if adding a fiberglass top and custom made I’d might as well have it overhang front of van much like an RV so I could use that area for sleep. Prob is sprinter connect vans Re 4 cylinder so too much weight would bog a little engine down. Any suggestions? I really want to stand up in the van

    Thinking about a mid roof with a skylight over cooking area for extra height.

    Why don’t you do a series on the ultimate build out in a mid roof, or a high roof. This would give everyone that is looking to buy an idea of what a mid or high roof Vandoit can do.

    We have our initial build call with production scheduler coming up. I’m 5’11” and really would like the extra headroom and space on our LIV model. We are not concerned about the extra gas mileage. We are also planning on going with Quigley and the larger tires, so that will put the vehicle height up at 114” without any add-on’s. We’re not planning on roof rack or loading anything up on the roof although will have some light bars, awning and solar panels. My concern is center of gravity and possibility of rolling over. We don’t plan on using it for any serious technical 4x4’ing but just want ability to get to those off the beaten path overnight spots or trailheads mainly in western CO and southern Utah. So, I’m thinking ground clearance is important. The Quigley 4x4 and large tire combo gives us an extra 4” of ground clearance. Any thoughts or first hand experience on this conundrum welcome. Thanks!

    What I really need is a video of somebody standing on the inside of each van (stating how tall they are) and then outside the van- stating how tall the van clears. I had a Promaster that was over 8ft and I did not like having to pay the extra road tolls or not being able to go in certain cities that have an over 8ft law-keeping those vans out of those cities (Santa Monica ie).

      Yes, for a 5'11" person, the high roof van allows for you to stand up straight.

      Also about 5"5. Did you go with the mid roof, and if so how was it?

    I’m 5’10” tall. I drove the Transit mid roof when I delivered parts. At my height I never hit my head standing straight up inside that van. I did come close to the cross beams, maybe within a half inch or so. Maybe the van you’re in has had extra floor and ceiling added.

      With the passenger van ceiling paneling it cuts into the interior height a little bit.

    • @vandoitco

      That is definitely a tough decision. It can really come down to how important standing up straight inside the van is to a person.

    Can you give us the van heights with the roof racks and air conditioners? Do they fit in a standard garage?

    • @RicardoRoams
      @RicardoRoams 3 года назад +2

      Neither the mid roof or high roofs would fit in a standard 7 foot garage even without the racks. The low roof would be very close. I think it would depend on the specific garage. Even standard garages can vary slightly. Add roof racks and air conditioners, and no van would fit.
