Join us onboard the Renault Clio RS 172 and Toyota Celica T-Sport 190 battling with the Peugeot 306 GTi6 at a recent Blyton Park track day hosted by Performance French Cars and VWG magazines.
Both the Clio and the Celica had passengers to try and balance out the power to weight disadvantage of the 306 but even so they still had significant straight line advantage. As you can see, the Celica had the edge over the Clio thanks to its higher grip levels from its 225 section 18 inch tyres.

Even at his most agressive, the Celica always braked half a second earlier than the car he is tailing, giving him and his prey a margin of error. Excellent driving.
Celicas brakes let it down a little on a track like this to be fair. The Avensis upgrade would have helped a little but a brembo or willwood set up would be even better but then that would cost about the same as what the car is worth 😅 still a great drive

Agreed, 100 grand will get you all three, plus the mods, insurance, and enough money for fuel, trackdays and to maintain/fix them. What's priceless is the camaraderie.
Well done lads!!!!!! Reminds me of many years ago fun I had with friends... I still remain in love with these high revving NA engines (EP3 and Clio 200 included) but I think I am going for the Megane Cup 2013-2015 model. Or I am wrong???

Kostas Megane Cup is fantastic, properly fantastic, very quick track car and especially good with a few suspension tweaks. Just lacking the high revving N/A character but much faster so it’s swings and roundabouts!

@@K1000yaris On black flag you need to leave the track and go to the pits. Reason for that is either dangerous driving or too loud exhaust or something other of hazardous nature.
In this case the guys were doing too many powerslides, which is forbidden on most tracks. I hope that helps. ☺

Whenever people tell me "slow cars aren't fun" I just point them at this channel and laugh. I'll take a GTi-6 over anything in terms of pure fun.

You should take a look at the track TOS sometimes. There are less rules on the road than on the fucking circuit

Think I enjoyed this more than my track day here absolutely bonkers lads well done on my day what suprised me was a clio 182 pissing all over my stage 1 gti then realised thr guy had turbocharged it to nearly 300 hp but the way it still corners it kept with the new yaris GR FOUR
This is a refreshing change. Normal guys, just enjoying their cars. Rather than 1000HP Supras that no normal person is driving. Love it.

On a side note, check out a guy called Conorsev on RUclipss. He does FWD drifting and it is pretty damn kool to watch. He drifts an old Mk2 Prelude in Australia and drifts at Ebisu as well in a Mk3 Prelude.

Celica all over the Clio in the corners - didn't expect that. You can still but one for two grand in 2023 too. The other two are now say more expensive especially the GTI-6......i want one !!!😆

The Best thing about these NA engines is they are completely happy to be thrashed constantly. So long as they are maintained they will keep wanting more

U could buy 2 pairs of 15x8 wheels for 225/45r15 tires, 1 pair for clio and 1 for the 306. To use at front. Its not much expensive and will be alot better than 195

Amazing. What i want to know is, how much money did it cost to get that upgrades for the Celica? And is it safe for the daily driving, with a setup like yours? I like the 'oversteer' that she has.
It was around £750 excluding the cost of the wheels, cams and geometry setup. What helps with the oversteer is the stiff rear springs but the springs that you see in this video are too stiff for the road so Ben is going to try and find a compromise but hopefully keep some oversteer characteristics. Other than that, the setup is fine for the road.

No difference in revyness with the sump. The Celica and Clio are a similar pace and are fair bit quicker than the 306 in a straight line

Another class video lads! Are you going to be tracking at castle coomb anytime soon? And random but is the omp steering wheel the 300mm version or 330mm? Just about to order one while I’ve got f all to do at work.
I only ask as I’m very local to Castle Combe (Devizes) and would love to come and spectate guys!
Nothing planned in for Combe just yet. This is the 300mm wheel but would definitely get a bigger one next time.
@@CamberandCombustion I’ve got the 330mm one in my basket online also, it’s a hard one as ideally I want to feel the 300mm in my hands. I’ve got cage, buckets, harnesses, gaz coils, ktec top mounts and pms rear stub axel spacers all ready to go on, first track day I’m thinking local over Chippenham and on to brands the next one.

Do the cams go well without a standalone ecu for the celica? Got a celica myself, but I want some mods to it too. I only have a backbox and cold air intake atm.
