This is one of the most important developmental scenes for Jon in my opinion. He started to realize Wildlings were people just like him, and there was little logic to their enduring conflict. While he later would defend Castle Black against the Wildling attack, I think Ygritte's pointed question of why his people were fighting hers made him start to reevaluate the dominant thinking of the time.
Problem is that the widlings are people but they're very different people, they're basically the Dothraki of the north without horses, Letting them go south might be possible, but in a slow, filtered way otherwise they'd clash with the rest of the peoples in westeros and there would be war, wherever they went and had settlements the same would take place, Hence the need to Keep them behind the wall, A united westeros with strong purpose and solid chain of command under a fair and strong Leader could accomplish such a task, but the westeros that is there is torn apart by greed, Lust, spite and scheming, basically falling apart under it's own weight, they barely can keep themselves off each other's throats, the best that'd come of the widlings's crossing'd be to give them a new enemy to unite against, and once they're done they go back to fighting each other.

its very possible that he is Rhaegar and Lyanna's child, plus the fact that Jon looks almost identical to what Ned look like at that age plus the strong hint at that he is a targaryen would leave Lyanna the only possible blood relation of Neds capable of also producing a targaryen, again this isnt really a spoiler as it is only a theory, a theory thats been around since the first book, that a large percentage of Martin's readers believe
This may have been the first time in history 2 people- a crow and a wildling had this debate 1 on 1. And it ended with the crow in silence when the wildling asked him a very simple question he couldn't answer: why? I find it quite interesting this argument between 2 people witnessed by no one else turned out to have probably the most influence on major future events, and Jon making all the decisions he did with regards to the Wildlings, because he couldn't find any real logic or reason for the conflict between them
I find the wildlings dumb as shit, they keep trying to come into Westeros and do whatever the fuck they want and complain when the people of Westeros don't let them.
By reading the comments i realized how he was being builded to become Azhor Ahai (since before he was born, **cof cof Bloodraven!** ), the Dragon from the South created and Instilled with good values from the North gets himself in a conflict between peoples and later the supernatural, and try to solve everything pacifically. You can say it's all a training ground for him to become the "perfect" or a great leader. And seeing him making a bunch of mistakes and being weak makes his growth all the more special, gives him personal responsability and the choice to actually continue on and become this type of person.
+Mercworx Deployed Well if you look into the whole history of the Wildlings and the Southerners (Wintefell included) you would see that they are descended from the same people-just like Israelis and Palestinians in real life.
Actually that theory makes sense...the kings guard was supposed to protect the Royal family then why would Reghar send three of the best to protect Lynna..Ned mentions this when he is in prison and also Cat says Ned after returning from the South came back with Jon..the Rebellion ended with the fall of Kings Landing...but then again this is all speculation..and if I gave away any spoilers I am sorry
The Theory is that Jon's father is Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark is his mother. Remember when Jon was going to the wall, and Ned Stark said to him "You might not have my name, but you have my blood" he never says "You are my son" which would mean Jon has Stark blood, possibly Lyanna Stark's Blood. Remember, Lyanna's last words were "Promise Me Ned" but we never hear what the promise was.... was it that Lyanna already had Jon, and Ned just lied to protect his sister?
Ygritte and Jon had the best romance of the show if u ask me. But I hate the fact that Ygritte and her people took out an entire village. I just can't cheer for someone who does that...

Its extra moving this scene when you remember Jon Snows final scene in the show
I think its amazing that they got married irl.
Your father was rhaegar targaryen but doesnt matter cause your mother was lyanna stark. But yes Jon.. pls continue :)
She's literally the only character i was sad to see dying so far up to s7
"With your hands then....no wonder you so miserable"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
God I loved these 2 together...& she's straight fire
1:50 lol
Seeing if they ended up getting married and all I wonder how much of their interaction was acting and how much were true feelings
The real Ice and Fire of the story.
2:12
“Would u please shut up” 😂
its very possible that he is Rhaegar and Lyanna's child, plus the fact that Jon looks almost identical to what Ned look like at that age plus the strong hint at that he is a targaryen would leave Lyanna the only possible blood relation of Neds capable of also producing a targaryen, again this isnt really a spoiler as it is only a theory, a theory thats been around since the first book, that a large percentage of Martin's readers believe
Well you got it all right.
What are you? Nostradamus or something
2:50 Replace "Wall" with "flag", and this could almost sound like England and India.
CountryMusicMann or america
Or any country that was part of an empire
Britain and Africa, Israel and Palestine, it's history.
Ygritte's just brilliant! :DD
No heroic fantasy here... Just a scottish girl and an english guy arguing about the history of their respective homelands...
Get a cave you two..
"My father was Ned Stark" Hell yea Jon Snow!
Basically Israel and Palestine in a nutshell
"We've been here the whole time!"
"No you haven't you chucked up a big wall and claimed it was yours!"
*****
------ The Joke ----->
You
***** Don't take things on the internet so seriously dude....
+Mercworx Deployed Well if you look into the whole history of the Wildlings and the Southerners (Wintefell included) you would see that they are descended from the same people-just like Israelis and Palestinians in real life.
interesting
Actually that theory makes sense...the kings guard was supposed to protect the Royal family then why would Reghar send three of the best to protect Lynna..Ned mentions this when he is in prison and also Cat says Ned after returning from the South came back with Jon..the Rebellion ended with the fall of Kings Landing...but then again this is all speculation..and if I gave away any spoilers I am sorry
This was 9 years ago, damn
"You've got sheep at the wall?"
Ahh the good ol' days before the later seasons.
The looks she gives him when she finds out who his father was.
God the writing was good
The old man is genius
The Theory is that Jon's father is Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark is his mother. Remember when Jon was going to the wall, and Ned Stark said to him "You might not have my name, but you have my blood" he never says "You are my son" which would mean Jon has Stark blood, possibly Lyanna Stark's Blood. Remember, Lyanna's last words were "Promise Me Ned" but we never hear what the promise was.... was it that Lyanna already had Jon, and Ned just lied to protect his sister?
Huh... that aged well...
Ygritte and Jon had the best romance of the show if u ask me. But I hate the fact that Ygritte and her people took out an entire village. I just can't cheer for someone who does that...
They're best convo ever💕💕❤️
Do you have sheep at the wall?! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
How did Jon know that Wildlings tried to kill Bran? He wans't here. Theon and Robb were.
"With ya hands, then...no woOonder yer all so miserable!"
Her accent does things to me!
How many more good points could she have made in that short exchange
Lyanna died on her "bed of blood" as Ned refers to it.
Very next chapter Dany meets MMD who says she knows much of the "bed of blood" and can help birth Rhaego.
GRRM is not one for subtlety.
"ofcourse i like girls"
hahahahahahahhahahaha
There are some character I would swap for Ygritte to come back....
She tortures me every time she talks. Kit, you are a lucky man.
"So why you fightin us?".
Ygritte: Breaking News! This just in Jon Snow...put "that" in "here".
Don't you mean Ygritte
Tormunds
Jon Snow?
So why are you fighting us? So deep
