    It's not until the end when I realize what Jenn could have done to get rescued earlier: set the forest on fire. A plane may not see a flare gun if they're not looking, but they're definitely gonna notice an island ablaze. If it's during the day, the smoke will get their attention. If it's at night, the flames will.

    • @ForsythJC
      @ForsythJC 2 года назад +114

      I love the replies saying that's stupid because it would get rid of her resources. Am I the only one who watched the video? A plane flew by how many times? It's obvious that area is used for air traffic. If I was an ATC and someone radioed in a deserted island ablaze, I would immediately wonder what caused such a fire, and VOILA!, I would conclude it had to be a human in need of assistance. Then I would notify the authorities and have a rescue team sent. It's not that hard, people. Stop being egotistical narcissists with your replies only meant to demean a person. If you put as much effort into thinking as you did into denigrating, your lives would probably be much better.

You can build the biggest bonfire possible on the beach and daily feed it brush to keep it going trying to generate as much smoke as possible. Multiple would be better. A gigantic SOS would have been a start. From the crack of dawn to nightfall that's a lot of hours to end up with hardly nothing to show for it.

    Would have told them to just spend one night high up in a tree just to see the monster to prove it was real and then ask for help killing it. Or at least catching some food for it to buy them some time to build a raft and get off the island. 3 people together would have been easier to make it through that ordeal. Even with their possibly killing someone.

    If it is a true sea creature with gills that must spend most of the time in the water then on land is your best bet. Move inland and away from what appears to be its favorite part of the beach. Fish only during the day and randomly keep changing your nighttime camp and fishing locations. Make "rake" marks in the sand around the island above the high tide level so study when and where it comes onto the island. Try to figure out how long it can live out of water. Find or make places to sleep that you can fit in but can't. If it sees you as food, be the hardest thing to eat. It will look for easier food. If it wants only to kill you, you need to avoid it or kill it.

    The monster was actually the good guy. It was only trying to save them by dragging them into the hole underwater. We never actually see the monster bite anyone unless in self defense. Most of the time it was just flinging them around to weaken them. Any injuries they receive are clearly caused due to their need to fight back.

    Seems pretty clear from the evidence she'd seen up to the moment she decided to leave without them that they'd done something nefarious based just on the blood on her BF's knife. With the blood she saw later inside the raft I'd bet they killed and ate another person. So yeah; I'd have ditched them in a heartbeat. They would rather live on the island with the monster they refuse to believe in to avoid what horrors they'd already committed; then they and the monster deserve each other. Just because it doesn't come out on land during the day doesn't mean it can't attack and on the raft they're basically just bait. They'd have been better off all three banding together to fight against it and preparing like she did for the last encounter.

    I wouldn't have left them on the island. Yes, there was a monster, and no they didn't believe her, but it sounds like Jen has a history of lying so that isn't surprising. We have no idea what the blood in the raft was from, and there could be a perfectly valid explanation for it. Jen's freakout did nothing but alienate her two potential allies before betraying them. Is it any wonder they were talking to each other in hushed tones? Hell, I wouldn't have trusted Jen if she started in about a monster. And in the end, we see that Matt truly was her friend when he saves her from the monster. So none of Jen's paranoia has any merit at all. If she had shown and not told them about the monster, she would have had a 3-vs-1 fight against the monster at the end instead of a 1-vs-1 in the end.

    The movie is a creature feature obviously. But the director was not just making that. It's character driven and meant to show a woc as a strong lead . She doesn't whine she quickly understands she can't afford to do that if she wants to live. So she fights. When her boyfriend and his friend arrive, it's meant to address the common habit of society not believing victims (specifically women) .Her boyfriend and his condescending behavior, insinuating that he is now there and thus she is safe "sweetheart. Along with his ,you owe me and are nothing without me, are strong themes of the comparison to society views. It's insinuating obviously that dark things happened on the raft but the director leaves you to assume yourself on that. They purposely left a open ending. The director wanted to end on a example of life not always having a happy or conclusive ending even after all the shit you've been through. And you not knowing what happens to Jenn, along with her experience until that point, is a deeper meaning than going for the horror movie .
