i was at this game, my old man graduated from Michigan in 1951 and we went up there that year for me to check out Michigan and the campus, obviously this was the highlight of the trip! go blue! my first and only game at the Big House...
I was at this game. It was real cold that day, with the rain. Brees was really off that day. I remember their good receiver Sutherland (sp) came out of the tunnel and said how they were going to make the stadium "their house today." Thanks for the post, Andy.
Brady honestly looks like the brady I know and love on the pats here, except his arm is significantly stronger now, and his overall play is more refined obviously, that throw at 8:00 would’ve been a hit in stride touchdown today for brady.
I always love how PurDON'T starts off 4-0 or 5-0 and then they play a little bit of competition and get hammered! Michigan always owns PurDON'T! GO BLUE!!!!
Now 22 years later they meet in the playoffs. I don’t think anyone who saw them play in the 90s would predict they’d be rematch in fun the NFL in the 2020s
@TheZooCrew I don't know if he would have surpassed them, but he would have been a top 10 quarterback in the NFL for sure. I bet if Henson had to do it all over again, he would have chose football without even blinking.
So Jeff backus played 12 years, set a lions record for most starts without missing a game and is long gone from the league. While 2 of the greatest of all time were on the field with no one knowing the better and somehow are still going now
I remember watching that game and the refs screwed Purdue over. They kicked a field goal in the second half that was clearly good yet was called wide right. If not for that call, the Big Ten would have been 3-0 against the SEC on bowl games that year.
Indeed Henson was probably the most talented QB on the field on that DAY pound for pound... the lesson is that if you don't get reps (by taking off to play baseball) you'll lose the ability to read the game FAST
who would have guessed these two qb's would be as good as they are now
+bishopsonniertv And the one with the most natural talent was probably Henson.
Drew Brees Super Bowl Champion & Super Bowl MVP, Tom Brady 5 time Super Bowl Champion & 4 time Super Bowl MVP
Now they are playing in the same division
If that dumb ass ref could've made the call, we would've seen them in a SB together
@@JamesGrinstead Brady 6 time Super Bowl Champions!
Still playing in 2021
A-Trains blitz pick ups ad short yardage carries were always something to marvel
Brees vs. Brady...the Big 10 was beastly back in the 90s
This was my first Michigan game with my Dad, I was 7 years old. Great memories
2 Future Hall of Fame QB's going at it. Didn't know it at the time but it sure is fun to watch.
Just watched Brady beat Brees in Drew's final NFL game in the playoffs. 21 years later
I like the fact that Brady and Brees have been playing against each other in four decades
Who knew that the quarterbacks for these two teams would end up being two of the most accurate quarterbacks in NFL history.
This comment aged well

Brady's first 2 TD Passes were Pro level throws with perfect touch! What did scouts not see? I know Henson had a big arm but Brady looked like a Pro
Aside from that he actually had pretty good numbers for that era of football. It’s beyond me how some Ivy League guy got drafted before him

And now both in their 40s, Brady and Brees will face each other in the playoffs
this game showcases the last season in which we truly had a good two quarterback system in Brady and Henson.
Time flies
I'm here looking forward to their final meeting tomorrow 🐏
Saints Bucs 21 years later
Looks like it's turning out to be about as lopsided 😂😂😂
What's overlooked is that Brady and Terrell played with each other on the Patriots when Brady was a pro.
I always love how PurDON'T starts off 4-0 or 5-0 and then they play a little bit of competition and get hammered! Michigan always owns PurDON'T!
GO BLUE!!!!
Imagine if 20 years after their first encounter in college, they meet in the Super Bowl.
Now 22 years later they meet in the playoffs. I don’t think anyone who saw them play in the 90s would predict they’d be rematch in fun the NFL in the 2020s

2 greatest QBs in NFL history

My dad is in there he is middle linebacker #39 Aaron Hall but I think he was in 98
Brady Hoke's (@5:35) D-line was beastly that day :)

Matt Light blocking for the wrong QB.
Who else is here because of Instagrams nflthrowback page ?
Manny Quezada you got me
haha
Brady's press conference brought me here
Whose here after the two QBs in this game are playing in the same division.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of this!
Henson touch & accuracy on that second to last pass! Hope Jim Harbaugh instills these skills in our guys!
Who would have thought 20 years later.. 2 Decades damn Tom.. Three games left bring one to Tampa Bay
And they're not done playing against each other.
History repeated yesterday 1/17/2021 at division playoff game 30:20

Sutherland was a punk...he got into it with Terrell on the sidelines during this game.
That QB #10 for Michigan has no shot at playing in NFL. Even if he did get drafted, it would be like in the 6th round.
I won a bundle off this game.
Wow! 1951? Did you attended Michigan sir or miss? I been to spring games, 1 game in 05, I will go again, when I get $!
Go blue I'm here after the natty 2024
Were you confident about this, or did you think they'd have trouble containing Brees?
Marido da Gisele!
then they must have been making up for it when they called their field goal good against us the next season.
This game only shows how unfair of a talent advantage Brady had over brees
Brees did not play well.
@ndwwrestler2
What's even more ridiculous is that Henson could have ended up surpassing both of them today.
