I had the realization one day that the Knight can only target a single color at a time, and only the color opposite of the square it inhabits. So if the Knight is on a dark square, it can only touch light squares. Once it moves to a light square, it can only touch dark squares. So to avoid forks, exactly this 6:20 advice. Especially when you don't have a lot of calculation time, just put important pieces on different color of squares, and the Knight can only ever touch one.
He should've traded knights on g6 when he had the chance. He let both knights stick around too long. With such a huge advantage, he had to simplify by forcing trades. He was blind to allow the royal fork.
You can tell that Hikaru didn't care much about the position and banked on the opponent blundering in time trouble and that's exactly what happened. There was no way a 2200 was gonna be able to convert a tricky position against a top 3 bullet player
FYI I’m a beginner trying to understand what happened at 2:41???? Trying to figure out how Hikaru took the pawn when the pawn wasn’t in a position to be taken…am I missing something😂😂😂 TIA
What if resignation is not allowed, you'll be miserable for a moment when you only have king on the board while your opponent trying to promote a queen for the second times.
The Good Old Knight Mike FORK Attack ! This is a power house move by the Hikaru with his Knight MIke move . I swear The knights are sum of the best way to slay Queens and Rooks ! Fork attack for life !!!
Hikaru got only a minute, he can’t think too much, therefore when the opponent played good and he’s at a bad position, he just need to defend, complicate things and hoping for a blunder which usually come at 0-30 seconds where the opponent doesn’t have time to think. If Hikaru got 5 mins, it will be a different story.
He checked the king and and queen at the same time woth the last move. No matter what Max does, he'll lose the queen and then it's just a formality for a super GM to end the game.
Lmao, instead of taking that free pawn, i would trade knights on g6 instead. With a huge advantage, i would simplify by forcing trades. He was better off playing Nxg6 instead of taking that free pawn, eliminating that royal fork.
At 4:29, why not queen to C8, only then followed by rook to F7? Queen runs to G7, rook takes with check, king goes to H8, and you trade rooks and queens with a much better endgame and no sneaky forks.
The *thunk* when Hikaru lands the fork is so deeply satisfying
Love the slow-mo replay as well. :-)
Instead of Nxd5, just trade knights on g6. Simplify into a winning endgame is what I would do. Pawn grabbing not always the best thing.
I nusted a but

super nice tip thanks. i hate being in a stressful low time scenario and trying to figure out quickly if im getting forked
Love when Hikaru stops by to whoop some ass
Freaking Hikaru pulls the rabbit out of the hat every dang time 😮
why was this a game ending move? Why can't white just take the forking knight with the knight next to the king?
@@Orville9999 that black knight is also protected by a black knight. same outcome
@@Orville9999 double knight fork the queen was gone no matter what
Drmax wanted to do that, but when he realized there’s a second knight he started to howl🤣
It's so nice to see Hikaru on the channel again! His performance never disappoints
Hikaru plays bong cloud speed runs. Worse positions are no strangers to Hikaru.
That was a fun game, Docs banter is the best and Mr. H continues to impress with his super cool demeanor.
Nice game with a good post game explanation. It was a well played game by Max.
Hikaru is just sick. He needs like 30 seconds only! 😂😂
So, so, so cool to see Hikaru on the channel again! Such a down-to-earth, nice guy! Great job, Brian!
Its so cool hikaru comes to play with you guys, I have a lot of respect for hikaru.
The reaction to the knight fork was epic!!!😮

5:24 This is the moment you came for
I came for the while video
I like the Doctor's personality he's actually funny but the scary thing is he's damn good too! lol
2200 dude was playing really aggressive + entertaining chess. But naka is too fast + accurate + tricky. Inhuman speed with extreme accuracy.
Hikaru was playing extremely inaccurate tho
How did hikaru get dr max to position like that so perfectly I can’t even comprehend
Haha that edit when Hikaru gets the fork was so good. Gotta feel for Max. He was correct though. Played so well yet still lost.
lol, carlini was hollering about the fork from the other table
Cant white just take on F4 with the knight? 9:38?
How dare to play opening so fast with hikkaaru💪😝😜
5:16. Hikaru effect 😜Noooooooo carlini behind 😂😂
bro coz its the opening. pretty sure he already studied his opening thats why hes fast coz he memorized all the opening moves
@@dogearfarf even i know about opening. I'm kidding
Nobdy invincible in chess😝🤣🤣
What a jorney at the end! Love it!
I saw on Hikaru's channel that Robert just beat him.. what a game..
Time odds right? It’s still impressive, but Robert doesn’t need time odds
No shit, that's GREAT.

Can someone please explain me why white did not use his knite ,why he gives up I don't understand
Drinking at a bar in the Ohare airport and just kaughed so hard at that fork
The Good Old Knight Mike FORK Attack ! This is a power house move by the Hikaru with his Knight MIke move . I swear The knights are sum of the best way to slay Queens and Rooks !
Fork attack for life !!!
what about the knight in d3?
This is my favourite epi so far hahaha
Great rule! When a knight is close proximity then keep important pieces off same colored squares.
5:00 he should trade the knight, shouldnt he?
I love when Hikaru comes out to play with the boys
The slow motion scream 😂
Max could taste it, then it all went to hell.
Instead of taking the pawn, could max have mater by back rank checking with his queen instead?
illegal move by the pawn or am I seeing things ??@ 2:38 😂
Bro! do you even play chess?
The fork heard round the world indeed.
One thing I learned Hikaru wins anytime between 0.1-30.0sec left of games.
Hikaru got only a minute, he can’t think too much, therefore when the opponent played good and he’s at a bad position, he just need to defend, complicate things and hoping for a blunder which usually come at 0-30 seconds where the opponent doesn’t have time to think.

Fun to watch can't get enough 👍
Hikaru playing the caro. Levy would be happy
When GM did "La prise en passant", it was over ;)
These nights are jumpin'.
I bet if bro cut out med school study time and chose pro like others he would be a force to be reckoned with
Why can't Max use his queen check from c6 to c8 instead of rook check f3 to f7?
So near yet so far
HILARIOUS! Doc is awesome! Hikaru is a legend!
Is that Enrique from Terminator 2?
Am I wrong. Trading a queen for 2 rooks and a pawn isn't a sac? In fact it's worth about 2 points of material and is preferred in most games.
The guy on the right should really pursue a chess career
Sure he’s getting better
His trashtalk is also good, maybe he'd make a good streamer too?!
Nah.. he still get beaten by the guy with pineapple shirt.
One of the best moments ever on Coffee Chess - great channel
I really want to see ruth or doc against hikaru,
Hello, Where is this place? Thankyou
the fork heard round the world
4:19
Why do I hear boss music?
I did not see a queen sac. Also that reaction on the end blew my ears.
Most savage fork I’ve ever seen lol
Where do you guys meet?
Can anyone explain this situation? I really don't understand why this is a win for Hikaru, still learning how the game actually worksw
He checked the king and and queen at the same time woth the last move. No matter what Max does, he'll lose the queen and then it's just a formality for a super GM to end the game.
Fun to watch
That was great
Your analysis would have led to another Knight fork
This... is amazing content!!!!
@5:26
it's a question of which is better, a queen vs 2rook plus Hikaru. 😂
Lmao, instead of taking that free pawn, i would trade knights on g6 instead. With a huge advantage, i would simplify by forcing trades. He was better off playing Nxg6 instead of taking that free pawn, eliminating that royal fork.
78👍 Naka is just the best, ab early on for white might of saved the day - Coffee for Nikaru🚬
How to you calculate the eval bar number?
You use an engine
Wow. What a game for hikaru fans like me. Pure entertaining.
This guy was winning even my 1000 elo could see it lol. He needs more confidence!
This is the good doctor
Just dont understand how hikaru has the confidence even when he is such in a bad position
Well he's super GM thats why
@@iannablo5821 Correctamongo! With 10's of thousands of games worth of experience.
he is in top 3 in the world
When it’s 5 min vs 5. People take their time. Against Hikaru. People seem to go quicker than their pace. Must be subconscious. Weird.
Because you don’t want to be at a complicated position and you only have 30 seconds left against hikaru
Lmaooooooo hikaru is a savage
bro the YELL

Fab game, killa end!
Game can be prolonged
He was actually winning until he wasn't
lmao '500 isn't enough'
sad thing is it's not even trash talk, just an observation.
Deez knights are jumpin.
Imagine feeling like ure going to checkmate Hikaru and then this...
Legendary Aaaaahh🤣
Better tragedy than Hamlet.
Max was winning he plundered that game
Why wouldn’t he just take the knight with his and try and play endgame
Because the other knight takes and forks the queen and he's left with one knight against two rooks.
That was fun ,and I howelled when he lost his queen too 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That fork was so disgusting. Amazing!
You will not believe how many games I have lost due to knight forks just like this. 😒😒😒
Hikarini!
The guy who owns this channel never play with hikaru?
500 is not enough 😂
Eval bar meaningless here.
At 5:13 he should've check with Nf6 1st
get him outta here.. ))
If Hikaru can keep it going, he could become a master someday.
Fr maybe even one day face Magnus
It looks like paid to loose
he was winning and then... THUMP
can you please NOT put « dramatic « music when nearing the end of the game? It is sooo disagreeable (and gives you more work 😉). thanks
Neither one of the players was drinking coffee... clickbait
