      +Chidi ELBEY Completely agree. Good analogy. I only wish they gave it to Canelo without it being so obvious that the scorecards were predetermined. Cotto definitely won some rounds and whether it was a draw or advantage Canelo depending on how some people saw it, makes more sense than the scorecards the way they played out.

      +Meah Morales I think they are going to make it at 157 158.... I think canelo drains too much to give 155 if he lets the bullshit blowover... he could easily traing to make 160.. and feel stronger... I don't know why he's pushing him self a lot to still fight at 155... when he could conmfortably make 160... and not feel weak or drained.. because even if canelo denies it it is obvious that he struggles to make 155... he is huge now... he's body has grown a lot... and he is a middle weight he is strong as fuck even at weigh inn against cotto he looked big... he should fight at 160 already.. the problem is the fights and the names he could fight.. there are more chances of doing business at 154.. you name it... bradley can come up... and many other welter fighters... that are huge for that divition.. even broner is huge for welter.. canelo should fight the best.. and period... if he wants to be a good future boxing legend or at least hall of fame he should fight the best... he is 25... imagine him at 30.. he is going to be fighting at 168 at least...

    Cotto vs Bradley. Canelo needs a tune up at 160 vs. David Lemieux, for many reason 1. how well his power translates to 160, 2. how well does cannel take a punch from a middleweight. 3 cannel needs more experience cause he is still learning 25 yrs. old he is gradually getting better. GGG is seasoned already over 300 amateur fights, Canelo has no amateur background. He is a prospect who is great enough to beat champs, but he is still learning. Best to wait for GGG, Canelo not ready just yet.

    Roy is right on this one.
    Catch weights shouldn't even be a thing.
    If you're comfortable coming in at say 157 as a middleweight, it doesn't mean your opponent should have to.
    As long as neither fighter is over 160 (or whatever weight) then it's all fair.

    catchweights give fighters in weight classes that have minimal superstars to be able to fight a fighter that is a superstar and meet halfway. there is no other superstar in GGG weight class but there is one at a lower weight class, Canelo. so lets meet halfway and get it on.

    Cotto vs Thurman. Cotto vs Porter. Cotto vs Diego Chavez. Cotto vs Kell Brook. Cotto vs Berto. Cotto vs Erislandy Lara. A couple of tussles Miguel can be in. 35 Is still a strong age. If he really wants to retire he should take 3 more fights, with wins and retire. He gave the sport enough, a lot of wars. Cotto is a legend. I still think he did have a resurgence with Freddie Roach. And as for Canelo. Go ahead and move up man, GGG is a dangerous fight but yall already sparred and he says all he saw that was significant was GGG's power. So Canelo could make it happen and win with a Decision.

  • @spian
    @spian 8 лет назад

    When Roy says that a stronger one punch beats the "tap tap tap" punches that is not the case at all. For fighters like mayweather and pernell whitaker, etc... those "tap tap tap" punches are way more effective scoring wise. Combos are way harder and take more skill to land that one punch. Although it can be a very effective punch it all depends on how the fighter comes back. You can get whacked across the face and then continue to land great combos till the end of the round. What Max said makes way more sense about the rounds that are up in the air and could go to anyone. For example thats how I scored mayweather's first fight against maidana. The furthest I went in that fight was 114-114. It could have been a draw if all the judges agreed to give two or three round to maidana instead of mayweather but there is no way maidana won that fight. The furthest he could have gotten is a draw (which is still amazing against a slick fighter like mayweather. Closest anyones been since Castillo). Cotto could have easily gotten 4 more rounds than 119-109. That's just disgraceful. The judges went on to give those "up in the air" rounds to the more favored boxer who has more to lose. Either way cotto still lost. I just would have liked to see more sane scorecards but hey this is boxing.

    • @adress45
      @adress45 8 лет назад

      This is the case with a fighter like mayweather who lands weak punches but gets almost nothing landed on him. But when you compare 200 power punches to 200 jabs the power punches are going to mean a lot more.

  • @IronMan_thno
    @IronMan_thno 8 лет назад

    Both are champs, so i understand the catch weight, which in my eyes should be 157 straight down the line between 154&160. But let Ggg choose the gloves, and Canelo choose ref. Max and Roy always know their shit.

    • @IronMan_thno
      @IronMan_thno 8 лет назад

      No, Alvarez is the 154-160 champion, ggg is mid 160s. I've also seen Alvarez ask for catch weight then rehydrate and get embarrassed. Idiots rehydrate more than 3-5 pounds like Fernando Vargas, that's why he got whooped. No one seems to understand that rehydration to extreme weights is bad. You train to a certain weight, that's how your body will adapt, then fight night they become sluggish going up 14 pounds and wonder why. The catch weight should be made, not like both can't rehydrate if they choose. Ggg is already the bigger fighter in weight class being that Alvarez is a super welterweight/junior middle weight and ggg is a regular middle weight. Has nothing to do with Manning up, hell Alvarez has changed weight classes, when will ggg???

    • @IronMan_thno
      @IronMan_thno 8 лет назад

      Well this conversation it's over if you don't understand that the weights break off weight classes. The only reason guys have moved up 4,5, or 6 weight classes is because they are separated by 7 pounds. Alvarez is considered a junior middleweight, ggg is considered a middle weight, Andre Ward is a super middleweight. 3 different weight classes of the middleweight division, there's a junior champion, regular, and super. That's why the catch weight should be 157. Alvarez picked the catch weight against Mayweather even though Mayweather was moving up from 147

    • @IronMan_thno
      @IronMan_thno 8 лет назад

      This should sum it up for you. When's the last time Alvarez fought at 160 pounds. Not what he went into the ring as, but that he weighed in as. Then when was the last time he fought between 148 and 160.
      Alvarez can fight in the middleweight division, but just look at the opponents he's fought, all welterweights, just like he is.

    • @IronMan_thno
      @IronMan_thno 8 лет назад

      There's no technicality about it, he's only fought welterweights, which super welterweight goes to 154. Mayweather, Trout, Lara, even Cotto, all welterweights, that's clear as day. He's never fought at 160, and he's never fought a middleweight, otherwise he wouldn't ask ggg to come down. He's a welterweight, just a big one, like de la hoya

    • @IronMan_thno
      @IronMan_thno 8 лет назад

      The only reason those guys go up to those catch weights is to fight him bottom line, not to go middleweight. He's been a champion before, but not middleweight champion until he fought Cotto, who can't get above 153. The catch weight is never for his opponents, it's for him. He fought all these guys in the welterweight division at a catch weight so he didn't have to go under, but they were still welterweight fights. He's big enough to be a middleweight, but he's only fought one middleweight fight, just like Roy Jones fought 1 heavyweight fight in his prime, but he wasn't a heavyweight. Hell he was only like 195. He'll be a middleweight when he fights middleweights. Hell, isn't he gonna fight Amir Khan??? Another welterweight

      Oohing and ahhing on missed or blocked punches and talking up a certain fighter to the point where even your co workers gotta check you for being so over the top has nothing to do helping the viewers understand what's going on. It's called brown nosing and trying to manipulate the casual fan's perception of the fight in order to fit his employers agenda in pushing Canelo. It's not helping anyone but HBO.

Ok, some guys are bigger and some guys are smaller. We know that. However, if a naturally smaller man is outstanding enough, he can overcome that natural disadvantage and be victorious anyway. Of course there was catch weights back then. The issue is canelo is a bigger fighter than cotto. Canelo walks around 160 plus so why does he want a catchweight. Canelo looks like a pussy looking for a catchweight because cotto was so damn small. I have stood next to cotto and he is a shrimp. So canelo asking for a catchweight against ggg is suspect.

    canelo is fraud. He lost to lara, the cotto fight was closer than the decision. juan marquez and julio Cesar chavez who are both mexican and were at ring side thought that cotto won that fight. if not a draw. look it up on golpe a golpe you tube. bring your own translator.
