Absolute kick in the cods running out of warranty before noticing the fault... ppfffttt! Absolute bonus that you could do the repair yourself and not have to pay someone. 👍🏽
Hey Andy, what a pain in ass of a job man.....the new gear of today is great and safe, but you can beat the old gear.....balls about to been out of warranty, hope she works for you, thanks for sharing Andy take care 👍🇮🇪
My Felder CF741 combination machine had the same problem. I managed to locate the original motor manufacturer, but when I contacted them they wouldn´t sell me one as they only supplied to Felder. Cost me around £350 if I remember correctly. I do still get problems with it from time to time though. I guess the problem is the encoder which is a tiny PCB which will cost pennies but they only sell the thing with the motor.
Hi Andy - I have the AD741 but fortunately there haven’t been any issues with it. Seeing as you’re using your machine more than I would, how did you determine when to rotate your cutters. I’m feeling some resistance when jointing now so I guess it’s time but he cutter edges don’t look any worse for wear. I’d appreciate your thoughts on the cutter maintenance. Cheers
I enjoy watching your RUclips channel, I just wondered on the encoder issue, I wonder with the tension device not locked do you think its possible it was just at the point where it could jump a tooth, also if it was slack there could have been a difference depending on the direction you were going to the desired hight?
No I should have made it clear I just forgot .. it was not the chain jumping and I did test it felder told me it would make a noise and move more that a mill out !
Hey Andy, great video I have the same planer and it is a beast. I just notice that the factory settings alows a light curve of 2/10 of a mm when you plane something flat. There is a way to correct this at the infeed table, do you know how?
I'm sure you did your homework but incase you did not. Go online and research if there are few or many such failures. If there are many then Felder needs to man up and own the problem even if it is out of warranty, if there are only a few then as you say it is out of warranty.
Wow, felder need to get a new electrician. Can't believe a machine so expensive, they just leave the cabling hanging down all over the place. I'm sure it's not going to get damaged but still , so bloody messing. Unfortunately felder are not as good as they used to be. I've been in the manufacturing game for over 20 years, and even I have noticed the decline in quality in felder machines. Just nothing like they used to be.
I have a lot of Felder and Format in my shop and I love the gear. I have to chime in when I hear the negatives. Let others know that there are those with good experiences and who will continue to purchase this Brand.
@@pdwinc.1077 calm yourself down. It's not like I said he was not good. It's just a machine, what are you on about negativity. I never said they are shit , I said they are not as good as they used to be, and it's a fact. I've used felder myself for over 20 years , and all got rid of my last feld afew years ago. Don't be one of those pathetic people who start getting angry when someone says something about felder or festool.
@@lscjoinerymanufacturing The same thing has happened to Homag Their quality has gone down the hill. I have a format 4 dual 51 and it has been nothing but a headache. I might swap it for a martin anytime soon
I'll never again buy anything from Felder. Their aftersales service is a catastrophy! The only thing they care about nowadays is money and nothing else - certainly not the customer.
That is not my experience dealing with their agent (Jacks) in New Zealand. I'm sure they think I am a major PITA, but they always listen and resolve every issue, I've had. Cheers, David.
Felder have been very helpful never had a problem in the UK , they explain how to replace the motor and have been working with me for 4 months on and off to find the fault and it don’t cost me a penny . Just the cost of the replacement part . Shame it had a fault but things do go wrong

Fair play fixing it, I usually open up a can of worms when I fix anything.

God bless my fully mechanical Planer. A Gear is a Gear is a Gear. Cranking is no effort at all. In fact it is as fast as those motors.
