hey cassandra, i am a young adult with struggling acne. you know how ethan dolan had super bad forehead acne? i had that on all parts of my face for over 3 years. my dermatologist, you, hyram, and james welsh have tremendously helped me battle my hyperpigmentation, scars, and cystic acne. seeing your skin from your old videos to you now, gave me hope that my acne can go away! thank you, for all that you do and helping me to my clear skin goals 🙌❤️
I am late to the party but if you are still struggling if you haven’t already trentoin works wonders for acne (this is what I use/used) to rid my acne. It’s a RX from your doctor. Otherwise you can get differin over the counter as well.
After years of battling with spots, pixi glow toner literally cleared my skin within days. So I've always loved it for that reason! Love how informed you are but also so kind to others that may disagree. You are just the best human on RUclips!
I love how instead of degrading Hyram she helps him learn and grow so he can become more informed and helpful(he has mentioned he likes it when people do that). Like this woman is a gift from heaven.
I really enjoy hyrams videos but you explain ingredients from a clinical, and scientific side. You explain why “toxic” ingredients aren’t actually toxic and how the percentages matter as they can be beneficial. You really uncover things that other youtubers don’t talk about because of your medical experience. You’re one of the best skincare people out there. 👍🏻👍🏻
Why in india they launched average and highly overrated brands like pixi, bodyshop etc..why no one is bringing, the ordinary, purito, iunik, codex, Paula's choice etc...and in lockdown all international shipping are banned...so we Indians have really bad luck when it comes to our skincare...and also there is just so much lack of awareness..
Beg to differ here, the body shop is a great brand, its not overrated at all. The ethics behind that company is what every other company, not only in India but all over the world needs to practice! Also, you can buy purito from beautybarn.in & the ordinary from coral-beauty.com sold in India (they haven't resumed selling yet because of covid) instead of importing them and paying customs. PS international shipping has been resumed, I got some stuff delivered by DHL express in july.
I would suggest you to try Indian products that are awwwwsum.... Times have changed n so have quality of Indian skin care products!!! Try Kama, Dot&Key, Plum, Suganda, Khadi, Forest Essentials n many many more....
I was all for fragrance in products etc and never had any issues with them until YEARS later now I have allergic contact dermatitis from those fragrances! Basically it catches up to u maybe you don’t have it now but later down the track... lol And it’s not fun! I used to scratch my skin for hours before bed and ended up with insomnia and waking up at 3-4am every night scratching my skin so I don’t think Hyram is shallow with his understanding if anything it’s better to be safe than ending up like me lol there are so many preservatives skincare brands can use instead of using fragrances as a preservatives! 💕 just my thoughts!

Thank you for explaining sodium hydroxide in skincare! I knew from high school chemistry class that NaOH has a pH of 14, and that an alkaline mixed with an acid will create a salt and water: NaOH + HCl = NaCl + H2O. I've always wondered about such a caustic substance used in skincare. It now makes sense that the formulation process can alter its chemistry.

I completely agree with you on the NaOH point and I love that you explain your opinions from a scientific perspective. As much as I appreciate Hyram's videos and I think they're great to get you started and for people who want an "easier" approach to skincare, I still prefer to recieve science-based opinions. Actually, you can find it in Sephora in the Czech republic. It's only there except of some online stores. Personally, I consider it on the pricier side.
Thank you for addressing the NaOH matter. The dose makes the poison. Cosmetic formulations are extremely complex and it's hard to just look at the label and say "this product is bad because it contains X" because of the multiple interactions between the components and because you don't know the exact amount that was put into the formulation. We need more people like you, who doesn't approach skincare on an all-or-nothing perspective. Your content is incredible!
Could u do a video on the whole Naturium scandal! We need to know the ethical or lack there of that was involved in the fiasco. U provide the right info.
Somehow I don't think this is going to happen, as Cassandra has been leaving positive comments on Susan's channel. I take this as Cassandra expressing support for Susan. Not sure how a video about the Naturium launch would fit into this?
Out of all the “influencers” out there the only ones I trust is Dr Drey. Susan Yara and the rest of them just hype products up without any credentials to back up their claims. Like you said, some fragrance can be beneficial when it comes to formulations, but the way other influencers make it out as if it’s the devil. People need to take what influencers are saying with a grain of salt since most of them are being pampered by these companies for a positive review. I rather listen to someone with a medical degree.
I think we can stop labelling people for one mistake n give them a chance. One chance is not a lot to ask for when that person has given great content n good information for years. I know people feel being cheated on and she did lie about her association but her reviews are not entirely dishonest.the brand is really n nice brand n I know quite a few who seem to have benefitted from that.
Susan Yara is a sales woman. She is constantly promoting sponsored products that contain ingredients she actively speaks against (fragrance, SD alcohol, etc). Not to say she isn’t intelligent, I actually think the contrary, but I do believe her opinions need to be taken with a grain of salt because of this.
Cass I remember your coming out video because it was very influential to me. I had recently started dating my first girlfriend. And to see how far you’ve come with your label and how comfortable you are with it is such a beautiful thing.

Fun fact: In Poland you can buy Pixi only in Sephora, ofc with Sephora prices level :) Plus on some independent online stores or international online stores.
I gravitate toward Pixi every time I’m in Target, but still haven’t made a purchase due to all the fragrance ingredients. My skin is definitely NOT resilient. I would like to try their double cleanse and their eye patches.
I really appreciate that you and Hyram brought this up because nobody is talking about sodium hydroxide. I took the products that contain sodium hydroxide out of my skin care routine since I discovered that it was the ingredient that was causing irritation (red patches) on my skin especially near my eye area. I think what happens is because that we layer so many skin care products and sodium hydroxide is in a lot of things (cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, spfs), I think we sometimes end up accumulating a lot more of it on our faces than the individual product formulations accounted for. I haven't been getting the red marks since I took the products that contain this ingredient out. Maybe my skin was just being sensitive I don't know 🤷♀️ I wonder if other people experienced this too
I have learned more "applied chem" from studying skincare than from school :p Great informative video as always Cassandra! And, good on you for setting your boundaries with that manager!
I love seeing u talk about chemicals and their mechanism, so much so that the necklace you're wearing looks like a hexane ring. AND LET ME TELL YOU, I AM HERE FOR IT!!!!
It's good but WAYY more powerful so make sure to start slowly! The pixi one is only 5% glycolic acid, the ordinary's is just the straight up ingredient glycolic acid Edit: the ordinary's glycolic acid is only 7% , not the straight up ingredient. My bad
When you were talking about the lye i couldnt stop thinking about royalty soaps lol! 🥰❤️ ive noticed a huge difference in my skin since i started using cold process bar soaps instead of the cream body wash from dove. ❤️❤️
Thank you soooo much for clarifying this. I have been searching for more reviews about Pixi Glow Tonic because I am a huge follower of Hyram and he does not approve of it because of the Sodium Hydroxide that is on the ingredient list. But for some reason, I really can't let go of the product because it has given nothing but amazing results on my face - that natural glow is undeniable that even others have noticed it. Now I can sleep at night after watching this video. Lol!
so this would be good for my mother she wants to try something and looking into this line for her she has sensitive to dry to normal skin any products you use and worked for "anti-aging"
We all know about the PR packages. Influencers keep rubbing it in our faces every time they go on a trip sponsored by these companies or get a PR package. They rush out to tell us, because this is how they feel superior to us. That is their purpose in life, to be known in order to be sent these gifts. We have to stop being influenced by and start experiencing
I love Pixi's Glow Tonic! It did wonders for my complexion. However, since I discovered The Ordinary's 7% Glycolic Toner, I have switched. Especially considering the price point. 🦋
I've tried a couple of Pixi's skincare products, but didn't enjoy the fragrances. Instead of the Glow Tonic, I prefer The Ordinary's glycolic acid toner. Way cheaper!
Funny thing that you brought this up, Cassandra! Speaking of the Pixi bit, I think I discovered them at Superdrug in London and I too was attracted to their minimalist nature vibe packaging and I am super obsessed with not having plastics in my skincare since I struggle with acne and super sensitive combination skin. I remember explicitly not buying from the pixi rack when I realized that their are really not tht "all natural" as they seem and also probably not even completely cruelty free. That's what I thought at the time and because of that I never tried them, so it's quite funny to see this video now after 4 years. BTW, love your channel and I feel blessed to have found you on RUclips, you're awesome and I love how you can recognize your own biases and change things whilst getting informed.
Your review was soooo neutral and I appreciate that so much! As nowadays people just wanna tear a brand apart rather then telling the consumer the good and bad.. Love you, keep growing !! ♥️🙌🏽
They've shut down Sephora in Croatia...why, WHY?!?😩 It was working, as I'm aware, for quite a short period. Probably it was due to the location...duh, I'm SURE it was location!🤬 Oh, how I hate when ppl don't do their jobs properly and skip the thorough analysis. *sorry for complaining 🤐
I learned about lye and how it’s chemical compounds change through the soap making process during my RUclips soap making educational endeavors. There are so many videos on ‘how to make organic soap without lye” and I just scratch my head☺️
I love how In america it's a inexpensive drugstore brand, and here in poland It's a Sephora brand that is REALLT expensive! That's crazy for me how here in Poland they market drugstore brands(line NYX for example) and High End, as well as Korean drugstore brands as High End, and put the prices way way up.
It's incredible how GOOD you are Cassandra. Thanks for being on RUclips and spreading such knowledgeable content in such a beautiful way. A truly beautiful human (butterfly ❤️)

Edit: the ordinary's glycolic acid is only 7% , not the straight up ingredient. My bad
Mehnaz Alam does it dry out the skin?
Nickie V does it dry out the skin? I’m new to the ordinary products. I’ve been having a bad breakout since January.
I’m new to the ordinary and I know a lot of people are saying good things about the products. I want to know that if some products dry out the skin?
Skincare RUclips community is the best! I love it
When you were talking about the lye i couldnt stop thinking about royalty soaps lol! 🥰❤️ ive noticed a huge difference in my skin since i started using cold process bar soaps instead of the cream body wash from dove. ❤️❤️
I'm here because of the vitamin C tonic, I don't know it just doesn't feel good, it's stickie like it doesn't absorb well.
I’d LOVEEEE if you did the truth about dermalogica! 🤭
I love the alkaline hydrolysis bit! Hello fellow deathling!
Love the Overnight Glow Tonic! If you can, will you look into Bioclarity? Would love to hear your thoughts and review of the skincare line!
Great video!
Love these videos ✨ would like to see one about REN Skincare 🙏🏼
Same!! Especially if the ingredients justify the price 🙊
You're completely right about the NaOH base... It has everything to do with pH.
I gotta say, you always add pretty darn good graphics for your explanations. One must appreciate them.
I tuned in for skincare, I got Ask a Mortician. And I am here for it!
I’m just lusting over Cassandra. Soooo smaaaart😍
i swear the quality of your content keeps on getting better!! thank you, cassandra ❤️
How do you feel about mineral makeup?is it what it advertised?
Thank you soooo much for clarifying this. I have been searching for more reviews about Pixi Glow Tonic because I am a huge follower of Hyram and he does not approve of it because of the Sodium Hydroxide that is on the ingredient list. But for some reason, I really can't let go of the product because it has given nothing but amazing results on my face - that natural glow is undeniable that even others have noticed it. Now I can sleep at night after watching this video. Lol!
I’m the only acne sufferer who doesn’t care about my acne but love buying SkinCare products just for the sake of Loving it. 😂
She keeps saying that these products are good for the younger generations. I just turned 62 and I use this line and love it! It works for me!
so this would be good for my mother she wants to try something and looking into this line for her she has sensitive to dry to normal skin any products you use and worked for "anti-aging"
🌈🌈I'm glad you made this video I use alot of pixis products
I didnt know you were lesbian you go girl!! 🌈🌈
"Best thing since kittens on rainbows" 🌈🌈🌈😻😹😹😹
Can you dive into some of the MLM brands like Arbonne and Beauty Counter? I’m curious on their efficacy and ingredients!
You’re skin has came a long way !!!! BEAUTIFUL congratulations !
Your review was soooo neutral and I appreciate that so much! As nowadays people just wanna tear a brand apart rather then telling the consumer the good and bad..
Love you, keep growing !! ♥️🙌🏽
I'm so happy you post these types of videos. They are so helpful!
Europe Sephora: Pixi for everyone! At least in the Czech Rep., Slovakia and Poland☺️😂
Italy too!
Romania too!
Portugal too
They've shut down Sephora in Croatia...why, WHY?!?😩
It was working, as I'm aware, for quite a short period. Probably it was due to the location...duh, I'm SURE it was location!🤬
Oh, how I hate when ppl don't do their jobs properly and skip the thorough analysis.
*sorry for complaining 🤐
India too but it's expensive
I learned about lye and how it’s chemical compounds change through the soap making process during my RUclips soap making educational endeavors. There are so many videos on ‘how to make organic soap without lye” and I just scratch my head☺️
Please talk about Olay!
Would love for you to review Jessica Alba’s honest line! Thank you!
It's incredible how GOOD you are Cassandra. Thanks for being on RUclips and spreading such knowledgeable content in such a beautiful way. A truly beautiful human (butterfly ❤️)
