Oh ya you can do the job without completely removing the bumper, but in order to get a good shot of everything I thought it might be easier to demonstrate how to do it with the bumper completely removed. Plus, if someone is not that experienced with automotive stuff, removing it completely helps to keep things from breaking.
So you can run just the LED strip while driving? I heard they only work while in park or with the headlights on. Also you don’t have to remove the bumper to remove them, you can just drop it down a bit instead of removing it completely.
The LED strips are the running lights for this head unit. And ya, you don't have to remove the bumper completely but it helps if it is completely removed, especially for someone doing anything like this for their first time or with little experience.
is there a way to see if my car comes with HID headlights or not? because i want to buy healights for my 08 cts but every headlight says its not compatable on models w/ factory hid headlights?
To tell you'll have to take the bulbs out. More than likely, if you have never replaced the bulbs before they are going to be halogens. Halogens, LEDs and HIDs look different from one another. LEDs will look futuristic. HIDs will look like super fancy halogen bulbs but do not touch the actual bulb on these bc it will ruin how bright the light will shine due to the oils on your hands. Halogens just look like normal bulbs, tbh. Easiest thing to do is to remove the old bulb and use it to figure out which style LED you need. I believe that its either going to be an H11 or H7 depending on the lens but the connectors will differ bulb to bulb. Hopefully that helps!
hey man, thinking of getting these headlights, did u use h7s for the high beams as well? I know the pack comes with two, should i buy two of them for both lows and both highs?(4 h7 bulbs in total)?
It did. To be honest, I'm not sure what it was suppose to hook up to but I plugged all the factory harnesses back in and had zero issues controlling the lights.
Great question! I purchased this same setup 4 months ago and haven't attempted to install the headlight housing because of the extra wiring. I assumed they were needed for the daytime running LED & turn signal to function and didn't want to start the project with the electrical unknowns.
@@lances3426 short answer no I ultimately had the lights installed professionally for $50. They look great, but I haven’t checked to as if the wire was removed or pluged somewhere
Hi , My name is great video by way. The led bulbs, the link does not work . The bulbs you ordered were they both high and low beam and what's stock number so I can order them. All I hear in the video was Oxilam's and the housing was 6KH7. Thanks Jerome
I have the same stock housing with the H11 halogen bulbs, for these new ones, are they plug and play? also, is the light strip down the housing the DRL? Thanks, they look great!
So the new headlight housings actually came with bulbs, however, I swapped them out for some LEDs. You can keep the stock halogen bulbs if you want. The new bulbs for this headlight housing though are H7s. Yes, the strip on the side is a DRL.
I can't give you a for sure yes or no simply because I am unaware if gm made any changes to the luxury edition cts that is different from the regular cts. I would go out on a limb and say yes, it would fit but, I would just remove one of your headlight housings first and compare it to the one in the video to see if they are similar. I would be willing to bet they are identical.
Headlight Housing: amzn.to/38XX0hF I try and post everything I use for the project down in the description of the video. The LED bulbs I used are linked there as well!
FYI, some others have figured out how to do it without removing the bumper. That would save you some time if you have to do it again.

Yes I did both for high and low bc I wanted the bulb color to match.
Question, did yours have an extra wire on the new headlight?

@@slickdawg5976 same here! Did you ever figure out what the extra wiring goes to? I cannot figure that out.

Yes plug and play, no issues. No problem!
How are they holding up?
They still look good!
