- I like this statement from William Smith: “All believed it was true, father, mother, brothers and sisters. You can tell what a child is. Parents know whether their children are truthful or not. The proof of the pudding is not in chewing the string, but in eating the pudding. Father knew his child was telling the truth.” Source: “The Old Soldier’s Testimony,” sermon by William Smith, June 8, 1884 (reported by C. E. - This source (link below) suggests that Joseph left the plates in the birch log for about 10 days, though other sources disagree with that estimate. Lucy Mack Smith seems to suggest a much shorter time span. The same source also estimates that Joseph recovered the plates from a spot on the hill about 30 to 40 “rods” from the road (Canandaigua Rd.). Keep in mind that this is an antagonistic, non-first-hand source that contradicts some other accounts. It should be read with a healthy amount of skepticism. Source: bit.ly/3TwXAJv
- Joseph likely took Canandaigua Rd. (Route 21 S) when bringing the plates home, but soon left the road (for safety reasons) and traveled through the woods.
- Lucy Mack Smith adds the interesting detail that after the plates had been brought home, Joseph “commenced work with his Father on the farm in order to be near the treasure that was commited to his care….” Source: bit.ly/3neccSg

Have you read about Hyram's attendance at Dartmouth College? I didn't know. He attended daily religion classes just like what is required at the Y. When he came home, he discussed a lot with Joseph on what he was learning. It was the Dr's from the medical school who worked on Jospeh's leg.

@@QuincyDisneyVegan listen, you can believe what you want, but I get my cues from the Holy Spirit, who testified to me that the Book of Mormon was the word of God. I don’t know for sure where it came from, but I can’t deny what the Spirit has told me. I don’t think a bald-faced liar could produce the word of God (not to be confused with the Word of God, which is Jesus Christ).

My favorite story was of JS running through the forest with the plates under his arm. He had to jump over logs and run through the forest like OJ Simpson at his peak scoring a touchdown.

What happened to the breast plate, the liahona & the sword of Laban, my understanding is that they were also buried with the plates. Did he not take those as well?

I really enjoy the research and time put into these videos, but as an aspiring voice actor, I can't help be disappointed by the use of AI generated voices (and art for that matter). It's not the worst thing you could do, but... still, doesn't make me feel great.
