    Are you happy with the controller? Or would you rather have the new one with the 4 way jostick that is now available?

    • @DragosRDS
      @DragosRDS  10 месяцев назад +1

      I am very happy with the controler. In fact after using it for one busy season and a roadbook rally I can say that a 4 way one would not help in the real life. In the real life you don't take your eyes from the road when you are in the mountains to adjust or to do something. In reality, if there is a need to check something I always stoped. SO yes, the controller that I have is more than enough

    Din ce am observat spatele telefonului este magnetic. Nu strange pilitura de fier existenta peste tot? Prinderea magnetica este suficienta pentru offroad enduro? Probleme de soft, functionare nu au aparut ? Si eu ma gandesc de cateva luni sa achizitionez unul.. inca il recomanzi?

    Interesting and very helpful review. I'm right looking at the DMD-T865 (which is the tablet version), as I also want to use it for Roadbook navigation. My only concern right now is the screen brightness of 800 Nits vs the 1000 Nits of the Carpe Inter (which is not any more sold by Thork). Have you experienced any issues with the brightness of your DMD-T665 under direct sunlight? Thanks a lot.

    • @DragosRDS
      @DragosRDS  Год назад +2

      Hello Alex. Thank you for watching. The brightness, yes it is lower than the carpe, in direct sunlight on my nav phone you can't see the fine details. BUT in fact, I noticed that everytime I needed more info we stopped anyway in the shade. It is safer and more logic to stop and search whatever you are looking for. But yes, in direct sunlight it is a little dimmer. There is a work arround this issue. DMD app gives us the posibility to make the track thick enough to see it in the most sunny conditions. Plus the magenta colour helps tons. So in the end, the brightness was no longer an issue but I agree it is different from the carpe. The advantage is the weight, night and day difference. To conclude, I am very happy with the putchase and I will continue to use it. Best if luck

    This is very much exactly what I have been looking for the most ideal navigation/multimedia system for a motorcycle! not too big and not too small either, i love it! plus the removal of optical stabilazation is what i have been thinking about DIY-ing to my own phone! Genius!
    But it's ALMOST perfect! just a few other things:
    - What kind of material is the magentic charging base made of?
    I really REALLY hope it's not made of plastic, as judging from the locking mechanism, a mechanism like that if made from plastic (no matter how strong the type of plastic is) will definitely break, especially with thin-looking prongs like those. If this is the case, hopefully they would revised the next version with a stronger material (metal, aluminium)
    - They should've also included the m8 cable charging input as well
    Charging pin contacts tends to get coroded overtime, especially if used constantly under harsh environment conditions. Or at least make the charging pin contacts modular so it's easily replaceable, therfore prolonging the lifespan of the device.

      Thank you for watching and for your imput. I will make sure to pass your ideas to Joao for future development. I just returned from the anual Romania Dual Sport Adv Ride. An 8 days ride through the Carpathians (video coming soon 😀). The nav phone held up perfectly, zero and I mean zero! issues with it. The magnetic parts are indeed behind plastic parts but very very sturdy. A lot of off road with fast sections on whops and jumps and nothing, not even a flinch. So I can say that up untill now the nav phone is up to my expectations. I am filming now a video with all the fresh sugestions I have in my head from this trip in terms of electronics, luggage, camping, navigation. Be sure to check it out when launched and again, thank you so much for watching !

      Great to hear that this device survived your harsh ride! But as all new products goes, they will definitely work during the first initial usage. It's how they perform in the long run what really proves if the whole system really work and last.
      Looking forward to your extensive long-term review on this! And thank you for passing on our ideas to the DMD team! I really do wish this could finally be the one and only nav phone system I can fully rely on!

    I was on the fence for deciding between this phone nav and the carpe tab for my KTM 390 ADV. I wasn't sure about how the tab would look on the gps mount which is similar set up as 890/790 adv, there isn't enough room for a 7 inch rugged tab like carpe tab, it might block the bike's tft dash and might have clearance issue with a tall windscreeen etc. and I couldn't find any videos of this phone or the tab on an 890/390 bikes. this video helped me to clear my doubts and this phone is the right choice size wise and weight wise even though I like to have a bigger squareish display than a small 17 X 9 wide display but the features and mounting option plus the DMD 2 app makes up fot that drawback :) . I wish they will come up with a 5.5 to 6 inch 16 X 9 screen soon which ideal size for a motorcycle nav with a similar slim profile rather than bulky lokking like carpe TAB. If you have a direct communication with the developer team from Carpe/DMD2 please put the request for such form factor for US :)

    I can ask you for information, I got the carp iter adventure controller but once installed on the handlebar between the mirror and controls I realized that the clutch lever touches the knob and does not finish its travel. How did this thing happen to you too? how did you solve it? I could also mount it after the mirror but it would be very difficult to use.

    Really nice and informative video, I am thinking about getting this one for my 890 Adv R also. Nice size and looks clean on the bike. Do you have any tip to fit it in inside the headlight? ;)
    Did you have to buy additional cables to connect it in the headlight?

    • @DragosRDS

      Yes, there is a module there that is screwed inside. I had to unscrew and let it loose, relocate it a few centimeters away. When you look at the bike, I've put the module of the phone on the right side. When you will open the headlight you will see

      @@the_nomad_adv that is true also. But, I got the extramoney for it and I really enjoy buying new stuff. The phone choise was because:
      1. It is lighter and smaller than the CI and on the ktm that has the smaller dashboard the CI looks wheird 😀
      2. The most imoortant, Carpe Iter lost the support from DMD2 software company. They are 2 diferent companies the software is in Portugal and the Carpe is in Czech Republic. That was a no no for me. And at the time there was nothing else but the phone. Now there is a second slimmer tablet, but I did not have that option when I bought the ktm. So conclusion, no more updates for the CI from DMD that is why I chose the phone

    • @the_nomad_adv
      @the_nomad_adv 9 месяцев назад

      @@DragosRDS Yes, now it is clear. thank you for the clarification. So, for you, in the first place there is the software (dmd2) and now it is clear your choice.
      The new tablet from Thork is thinnest than CI but it has 1 inch more so, maybe, it has more bigger footprint. Second, it has only 800 nits, the holder seems not so durst and it has only the pogo pin as power supply. It doesn't convince me totally. Honestly, the features of CI are better IMHO, but I understand your choice. Ciao.
