I purchased a Jumper T18 Pro V2 for around $170.00. It has the color touch screen and I have installed EdgeTX on it and it works great! The touch screen is cool!
The Radiomaster went up again? Last year I had my eye on the TX16S with Hall Effect for $139 waiting for a sale, but instead it went up to $180 in the last year, probably due to Covid and all the shipping backlog issues today. Huge increase. Now I look and see BG bumped it up to $199 now so they could sell the new Eachine version for $172 and make it seem like a huge discount. Only a few days ago it was still $180. Bummer. Note I can buy the Hall Effect Radiomaster OPENTX version for $160 from another seller. With the Eachine name on it I would only buy if they have a huge sale of $120 or less. Ah well. Sticking with my Spektrum TXs for now. Happy flying.
2 years after the release of this video, and I'm starting to see things like these radios either being sold cheaper locally (I'm in the UK) than Banggood or if not cheaper then at least at a comparable price. I'm guess that's down to shipping. It must be cheaper for a distributer to ship a container full than it is to ship 1 radio from China. I mean shipping is still insanely cheap from AliX and BG at times, but I'm also starting to see shipping costs of £20-£30. Both of those websites are so well ran, and they are such good business ppl behind them that they know how to markets stuff so well.
Nice review. For me it'll some down to $. Both much of a muchness although the adjustment holes are a concern. The screen polarisation - seriously in 2021 that can't be done properly? On an already highly reflective screen? Great video - thanks for making it.
Hello john, your reviews are great and very helpful. So thank you. I have the radiomaster tx16s. It came preloaded with the eachine 180 helicopter as a helicopter selection. The parameters in the programming appear to be on the radio Master transmitter. Are the preloaded parameters reasonably trustworthy? Ed
I love the 1-6 buttons on the Eachine. The ones on the Radiomaster might as well not exist. And the nice, all black look is nice. The one thing I miss is built in ELRS and replaceable antenna.
Hey John, just got mine, thank you for the video! Btw, how do you open the battery cover in the back? can't seem to open it no matter how hard I try (I'm afraid to break something up) lol
Had the same problem. And then I watched a video (John's?) Press at the very upper end of the cover, above all the traction bars. The catch is at the very top end of the cover. Once done, easy-peasy next time.
Hi John, thanks to your great videos today my Radiomaster TX16 arrived and the Esky Airwolf flies like a charm 😃 Just remembered this video, because my Radiomaster has the screws for the gimbals in the front as well. Seems Like they changed it independent of brand.
Hi Again John. Just bought 2 of your Ebooks, and I've just skimmed over a few areas so far, and I'm super impressed. I have a question about this radio or the Radiomaster version. Would you saw the the Radiomaster version TX16S Max, since this now has open TX, is essentially the same radio, but the Max is now just a fancier trim version? Or is there something else the MAX has, that these don't? Thanks!
@barneyrebel0123 Thanks for the ebook patronage - hope you enjoy them. I've done a review on the Max version: ruclips.net/video/g6fDA2jUdn0/видео.html As I mention in that review, it's pretty much the bling you are paying for. There really isn't anything performance wise that makes it better.
@@Rchelicopterfun Thank you John. I don't know why the question looked like that. I'm glad you were able to decipher it. That was my question, as to whether there was a need for the Max now, other than the bling. You answered it, and thank you. I've been fighting over whether or not to finally just buy an Open TX radio, as I've always been a Spektrum guy, and prior to Spektrum being around, I was a Hitec and Futaba guy. I decided to buy the Radiomaster, over the Eachine clone, because what you were saying about cleaning them, the more holes, the more areas dust and dirt there will to be cleaned up. I do see though, if someone wants to save $20.00, get the Eachine TX16S. My only accessory add on, will be changing to the black leather side grips. They look great, and also more comfortable. Your books will help immensely. I just hope, for whatever reason, if both my laptop, and my dinosaur desktop give up the ghost, I can always use my link, to download them again if need be. Thanks again!
Very nice review. I have a problem with my Eachine TX16S .It will bind a operate DSM2 and other multi protocol receivers, but when bound to Eachine models the servos no not move, unless range is selected . John Regester.
@ John Regester - Not really any ideas there other than confirming your frequency fine tune is set correctly (assuming your Eachine Models are running on Futaba's S-FHSS protocol). Procedure is explained in the Multi-Module.org web site.
Hello everyone, Eachine TX16S equipment is completely new, it turns on every other time, they say the problem is in the cable, it was wiped with alcohol, the base of the fixing bar was broken, maybe someone knows, is it possible to buy spare parts, a cable clamp, the cable itself?
Thanks for the good review. Is the sliders and little pot nobs really that bad on radio master tx16 s. Just want to say your videos sate exallant. Have a nice weekend regards Johan
@Johan Opperman - no not bad at all and some wouldn't even care; I just like a positive feeling detent and harder rotation force. Other's might hate that solid and stiffer feel - totally personal preference... 🙂
Nice review. When come to comparison, I believe mostly on the convince of frequent Eachine products flyers.. where saved times for searching for what protocol for which model and configuration. 😂 By the way, which version of OpenTx and multi-protocol firmware was loaded by factory? Cheers
Question: I just want to make sure, this transmitter can directly be linked to the receiver of spektrum, futaba, frsky, flysky and so on ? I mean, without any whatever addon devices, just this transmitter. thanks.
Yes it will (it has the full 4 chip multi-protocol RF module built in); but there are always exceptions. Futaba (which you specifically named) for example has S-FHSS & FASSTest protocols. Multi-module only supports S-FHSS. So... If you want the full listing of what protocols are supported to be 100% sure of protocol compatibility - visit Multi-Protocol's website and look at their ever growing supported protocol listing: www.multi-module.org/basics/supported-protocols This video I made on OpenTX frustrations may also help if you are new to OpenTX: ruclips.net/video/w33syhcWsHM/видео.html
Thank you for great video.. What would be your valuable advice on Radiomaster Tx16s vs Eachine Tx16s, which one should I go with.. Radio Master 199$ Eachine 179$
Pretty different radios separated by a big price difference as well so it's pretty hard to make any sort of comparison. For sheer value for the performance, the TX16S wins hands down. But having an upper display (for my needs anyway) is worth it and more. It comes down to features and feel, and the X12S simply has more of what I personally wanted in an OpenTX based radio, others of course hate the X12s's extra size and mass. Of course the X12S is no longer in production, so the choice isn't even available now.

John:
Have you found any fixes for the slop in the black roller? I've observed this in mine too.
Jim
I've just live with it - hasn't gotten any worse or caused any issues. Could likely put a spacer in if it really bothers you.

does this unit support DSM2 protocol as well?
Yes, in both 11ms & 22ms refresh rates. Visit Multi-Module.org's website for full details on the supported and growing list of supported protocols.

Hi there John would radiomaster gimbals work on the Eachine model?
Sorry, don't know. It's also a different front plate, so my hunch would be no.
Do I have to get new spectrum 2.4 gig receivers or is the radio compatible?
If you mean SpeKtrum DSM2/X, yes, the internal Multi-protocol module includes DSM2 & DSMX protocol: www.multi-module.org/
Thanks John 👍🏻 what are the side sliders for? I have them on my Align A10 🚁
On an OpenTX radio, anything you want them to control or activate.
Thank you for great video..
What would be your valuable advice on Radiomaster Tx16s vs Eachine Tx16s, which one should I go with..
Radio Master 199$
Eachine 179$
That's your choice. I showed the differences in the video, your call which one ticks off the most boxes for your specific needs.
Just got my Radiomaster TX16s in the mail :)
but no batteries for it looool :(
I bought a flashlight that takes 18650 batteries and I use those
Just use any 2s lipo
Nice video, thanks.
I'm wondering what the threaded inserts at the top of the Eachine are meant for; can anyone owning this radio tell us ?
Screen mounting. Future provision.
does the eachine work with crossfire right out of the box?
No, you would need a crossfire RF module as well. Since I don't fly with Crossfire, I can't offer any suggestions.
Which radio would you recommend the radio Master TX16s or the frsky X12s

Never seen or used one in person so I have no comment either way.

256MB SD card? Have they got a time machine or something, lol.
The plastic housing is so brittle, I've had standoff's split then snap off with no effort.
