Imran is such a well of knowledge...would be interesting spending even a day with this man to learn about inner details of BMW engines...Nice one gents!
My 1M N54 spun its hub. Hybrids and 26psi on e85 will do it. Mine was only a slight spin, no internal damage but timing was out enough that the engine wouldn't run.
I was one of the early adopters of this, by MaximumPSI/Bimmerclinic here in the States back in 2018. They are the pioneers of the original 2 pin design, and it has evolved to the 4 pin design you have here. Unfortunately they stopped selling them as numerous improper installs done by outside shops lead to failures, all traced back to drilling the crank. Mine was solid for the 3 years I had the car, I just couldn't love it. Even with 100whp over stock. The 2nd owner totalled it, I can only assume doing the no-hesi garbage, as it was a massive front end lick.
Nice touch there Hash👊 Great work as always by the guys at Evolve👌 Worth every penny I’d say if your running big BHP on these engines, better to be safe than sorry I’d say👍
Yes so we can only fit one every 2 days, rather than say our paddles which take 30 mins. Unfortunately to fix this properly it takes a lot of time, but then it’s fixed for good.
Hi Evolve team, I've just purchased a DCT OG N55 M2 with 95k kms. I'm looking at doing bolt ons and a tune for 400whp. Will this power level, alongside daily driving and occasional spirited B road driving necessitate this crank hub solution? Could a crank hub capture bolt alone be sufficient at this power level for an N55? Would enormously appreciate any insight. Thanks, Al

If I have an M4 F82 with stage 2 remap, downpipes, and intake, Mi gonna have that crank hub problem? or is it just when you go hybrid turbos... because I want to drive pacefully and not thinkinh i´m gonna blow the motor for driving hard.
If you’re worried about it and it’s going to ruin the enjoyment of the car, get it done. We try to lay out the facts as unbiased as we can in this video.
Looking for your advice if that’s ok. In the states. Daily driver. Eyes set on m2. N55 or s55 variant for roughly 6-8k more? Which would you suggest. Idk if I’ll ever track it but I may, who knows? I’m a huge Motorsport fan so there is always a possibility. Thanks.
We personally love the OG M2 with the N55, purely for sound the S55 will never sound as good to us - Plus it is hard to argue with the cost savings. I'd rather spend that 6-8k more on a CSF Intercooler, exhaust and our remap/CS software for the N55. Maybe see if you can get some M4 seats too, as the N55 ones are a bit basic.
@@EvolveAutomotivethank you for your opinion. I was actually leaning this way also just bc of sound. It’s such a huge factor for me and I didn’t want to get too crazy with power anyways. Really🤔…. Why’s that then🤔 These cars if maintained correctly last for thousands & thousands miles. This is a preventative measure to ensure this esp when running big BHP!👌
Yeah I get that. I have an f80 myself which I plan on having for a very long time… Just thought someone like yourselves would of made this back when the problem first became a thing. Not 9 years after the f80s release.
Wow! You guys are no joke. Really wished I lived in the UK to be able to have your team take care of my (F87) M2 Comp
Order it and get it fitted by a local garage?
We ship worldwide and are happy to try and recommend a local workshop we know where possible ✌🏻

What is the risk of the pins sheering? Does it still use any sort of friction disc from the original oem implementation?
