I was pretty confident that they would sign at least 2 impact players this offseason, but I didn't factor in how stupid this front office is. And like Mike Wilner (who should know the team pretty good) Shatkins has NO real motivation to make this team better.
Good Lads. I took My Family to 3 games last year. It wasn't pretty. With inflation going through the roof, and the cost of groceries here in Ontario, I think my priorities will be spent on groceries. Not being smart, but it's becoming a Reality. Does anyone else feel the same? Thanks for sharing.
We went to a rays series last year. First game they didn’t have a baserunner until the 8th inning, and unfortunately that set the tone for the rest of the series. We did get to see Daniel Vogelbach almost hit for the cycle so that kinda saved the weekend😂 Everything is so expensive nowadays, it’s getting harder and harder to keep fun things in the budget. Definitely a fun experience going to the Rogers Center, but it’s a lot more fun if the jays play competitive baseball especially if you’re watching live. Either way, major respect for doing what’s best for your family. Appreciate the comments!
The offer has been there for almost two weeks now He doesn’t want to come to Toronto , waiting for another team to give him the same or close . Players are leaving money on table not to come here . Sad team and front office
Imagine being able to find a guy to hit 25hr, 71 RBI, 92 runs and have a 20-0 SB effectiveness. Those are the stats missing from Bo's production last year (compared to his best year). I doubt he gets back to those heights, but it's reasonable to expect that Bo and Gimenez can add more than we realize to this offense. Santander means nothing to us if we don't get back to average production from Bo. Its amazimg to me that all the offense that this team has been short over the past 3 seasons is directly linked to either Vlad or Bo playing well below their standard. Now the fanbase begs to extend these guys while insisting we open the wallets in order to pay other guys to come in a replace their missing production. If this season fails, were probably looking at one or both of those guys under producing. If they put up above average seasons, then it's up to the pitching.
That’s what some people fail to see. Even if they signed Joc Pederson and Tommy Pham last season, with both of them having very productive years, this team still would not have went anywhere with the lack of production from springer, Bo, etc. The big dogs have to produce like big dogs if this team wants to be competitive. I’m all in on Bo bouncing back, but not as sold on Giminez yet. Love seeing the perspective you provide on the podcasts! I’ll be interesting to see what your take is on the next episodes topics!
@LockedOnBlueJays just trying to find way this may work haha. It feels like a few years now of riding the same horses and It's starting to feel stale, especially now We love these guys and regardless of what's coming, all we want is to see them all do well. If pushing everything to the brink (in terms of Vlad/Bo and the 'window') is what it takes to get it done, then let's go. Lol
Over paying in term could be smart. But as management you need to be real with yourself, bite the bullet and cut the player while eating the contract in order to improve the team. The fact that this didn't happen with Springer sheds light on if this could be done with Santander. It might be more prudent to sign Santander for a single season where collectively he could join Bichette and Guerrero to be a real threat in the middle of the lineup and then wait for the fire sale. For Santander, he could be picking up a long contract after one season with Toronto but the four year contract puts him in a position players don't seem to want to be ; that is being a 34year old free agent. With only one guaranteed year with quality offensive support, Santander could feel very lonely for three years
A one year deal could be intriguing for both sides, minimal risk for both parties. Ross Atkins does love to do his one year deals, this just comes down to if Santander wants to get PAID after a career year. Chances are, last year was the best season he’ll ever have, so he may want to cash in now!
Not happening. He’s no longer a need for O’s. He’s a very good power hitter even with on-base flaws. At Rogers Centre, he could hit 45-50 HRs. As an O’s fan, I hope he signs with an NL team. Don’t want to face Anthony 13 games next season.
@LockedOnBlueJays that's why I see a higher upside with Santander but who knows if they will sign either. Here's what I think is really happening Atkins is just a glorified secretary he has no say it's all up to mark shapiro. Mark Shapiro is a micro manager he needs peeps he can have control over. Why do you think the Jays never get a Bruce Bochy or Terry Francona as their manager? Because those guys run the team their way. Hence the reason why Atkins still has his job. The real ques is why Edward Rogers still keeping them? Oh I know why they were 4th in attendance last season with a losing team.
If 6 or 7 teams are bidding on Santnder the chances of a declining team like the Jays getting him are slim and none They had 2 good pieces and underpay both Lourdes Guriel Jr and Teoscar Hernandez for multiple years And then when those 2 players were up for big contract raises in a years time but still in their prime ,they trade both players . And then end up overpaying for aging fast Kevin Kiermair and then getting risky but cheap Varsho for a few years who only had one good year hitting for Arizona. Varsho ends up hitting way worse than they thought he would. And Ed Rogers and the ownership group are still in love with Mark Shapiro . And Mark Shapiro is best fiends with Ross Atkins so no one is fired even whe the teams record was less than .500 last year. The only way Shapiro And Atkins get fired is a low attendace at the Rogers Centre People have to stop going to the games or nothing good will ever happen to improve this rapid declining team
The Jays are low balling dudes cuz they are all show with no intention of winning any player over. I doubt any agent and player respects Atkins and Shitpiro. My bet is they aren't going to be extended and don't have a true mandate to spend for real. If missing all these players means those two grifters will be gone then so be it.
Why are you blaming the management for. Rogers is one of the top 4 of the wealthiest owners in MLB and could out bid any team for any player if they wanted to. So it's up to Rogers and no one else.
If he’s looking for 5/100 that’s to much term for his age. Give him 4/90. If luxury tax is the issue, if this team fails this year they will sell off anyways so they won’t hit the tax threshold
Low ball my arse. The J's offer is fair. $18 mil per year is more like it. Just because other teams over pay on players doesn't mean you should. That's bad business
@@TheTraderGuy draft and develop. Spend wisely. Trade off assets like Vlady when they become expensive. You're a big market that has to have the mentality of a small market. Not only will they be over paying they will lose a draft pick as well.
Excellent podcast gents
Boy I can't wait to see some 4-3 putouts this coming season. Wooo! Defense!
You wanta see defense? Sign pitcher Trevor bauer he'll put on a show!

God knows the J's are starved for a bat, but Santander's low BA and OBP makes me think long term we have Kendrys Morales 2.0
You don't seem to remember the flawless inning Morales threw for the Jays. He was the original Othani.
@@danleblanc2321 Morales at least was signed to help ease Vlad into the Majors.
Will be interesting to see if Santander wants to play in Toronto. I like him.
At the beginning of the off season I was thinking he was the last option they had in mind (low hanging fruit).
Now he feels like a guy we must get.
@@eshep71 Rowdy Tellez might be their last option. Vogelbach 2.0
It’s a terrible offer at this stage after you already lost everyone else
@@MikeRowe-h8h He probably won't take the deal, anyway, so we won't have to worry about it.

Also fans are complaining about George Springers contract. That's what the Jays have to pay to get a free agent to play in Toronto
Opening offer, apparently he wants 5 years 100 mil. The Jay's offer of 4 years 82 mil might make them runners up again.
The Jays love to finish on the podium this free agency… Ross might be addicted to the rush of almost getting every free agent😬
