Wildflower Fragrances - From Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream

- So this one is what it says really. There are number of flowers mentioned in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and it was Midsummer this week:
“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows.
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grow. Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine.
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine".
So it will just be fragrances related to them flowers, not necessarily the ones mentioned as obviously not all are used in fragrance but the nearest modern perfume version.
Anyways, what's your favourite wild flower? Have you got any featuring them? Have you got a Shakespeare play you love.

Thank you! So utterly amusing! Scenting Macbeth, I’m all for it! (Blood, madness, foul witchsoup, bravery, Scotsmen, what’s not to love!)
Ah yes the Scottish Play 😉 that would definitely be an idea for the future. There's a lot going on in that. Could have a really bad fragrance that is impossible to wash off for that blood on his hands 🤣
Your videos always make me giggle. 😂❤
Thank you 🙊 I do have a bit too much fun with them
Perfect lunch break video. Such love for your videos!👏🏽💗
Thank you 😊 I do appreciate that ❤️
BTW your Shakespeare recital was truly heartwarming, loved all the takes ❤😁😉
🤣 🤣 Yes it took me many tries, I blame my old age
A dear friend & former co-worker of mine, from 20 years ago, was always dragging me to her Shakespeare plays …this was so fun 🥀
Yes I do love this one, fairies and mischief 😊
Dog roses do indeed smell very unrosy. I remember feeling very disappointed 😂 it smelt a bit powdery verging on soapy to me, but light white floral. I had absolutely no idea what Woodbine was nor Eglantine. Eglantine is the witch in bedknobs and broomsticks, end of my knowledge 🤣
I think I'd have chosen Basilica for thyme, but your choice was probably more appropriate because it was more floral. I'd not really thought about the honeysuckle in vanilla Coco, but you're right, there is something stopping it being bog standard beachy coconut boredom. I really like that one. ☺️
Happy you got Siren and sailors in 🤣 I need more naughty parties in my life. And of course Alien. Foxgloves are gorgeous aren't they, they always make me think of digitoxin, something that really did partially save my life and that originally came from foxgloves. Loved hearing your midsummer quote too. Such a lovely video ❤
Yes I got very confused remembering what was what and what was like what 🤣.
Oh is Eglantine in that? It's sad but some of these must have gone extinct since the 17th Century. Yes Woodbine is a nice name for honeysuckle isn't it. Yea same I think it's what stops Vanilla Coco from being too much.
Haha yes I had to squeeze some favourites in 😜. That does make foxgloves very special ❤️ there are an insane amount of them about at the moment.
And thank you 😊 I eventually got the quote right 😂
Lovely choices for midsummer. This is the perfect opportunity to put a word in for Myrrhe Églantine by Hermès...love this stuff. A kind SA gave me a huge number of samples one day and I'm still going through them. ❤ I feel as though I have but slumbered here while these Jon Snow visions did appear.
Yey 😍 good play isn't it. And ooo I will have to go sniff it next time I'm out and about
Eglantine makes sense since the French make a jam out of the rosehips and its called Églantier. I bought some in the Polish shop recently but it wasn't anywhere as nice as the French stuff
I have a fragrance called Èglantier which does have rosehips. I should have figured that out 🤣. Well the French do things best. Tho I love Polish Sausage 😍
@@scentedsnowdrops I mean I cannot fault the Polish shop at all, the jams are amazing, just the rosehip one was low sugar, which is never a good idea
Absolutely not thst should be illegal jam is sugar and it did us no harm as youths. Better than "sweeteners"
Oh!!!! I was hoping you’d select something absolutely out of this world for honeysuckle as I seem to have some sort of unrealistic romance going with that flower 😂 …is the Kayali fragrance worthy??
Now I agree with you, I've done a disservice to Honeysuckle 🤣 I was staring at my fragrances a long time. But honestly I love that Kayali. If it didn't have the honeysuckle I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. It is a beachy one but it adds a whole other dimension to it
No, not much of a summer. Rainy and cold to brief sticky and unbearable heatwave and then back cold and rainy again. You know, the usual
🤣 Yes it's no wonder we're so sickly. I reckon by next week it will be 15 degrees lower
This was such a cute video idea! I have an app on my phone that can scan a plant, tree or flower and tell you the name.. I use it when I travel and don't recognize the foliage. Very handy (I suppose it's only handy if you're curious what the names of plants are) 😊
I do have a small sample of the original Alien formulation, haven't taken the time to compare it to the newer one, (mostly because I can't locate my sample) 🫣😆
I will look on the Play store 🤣 that app would be very useful as I'm always asking everyone. Oh the original, eyes rolling back 🙊 it's heavenly. The new one... 😬 I wish they'd just discontinued it
@@scentedsnowdrops the name of the app I use is Seek.. not sure if it’s available on android as well but there are a few different options out there I’m sure. Now you have me really curious to take the time to find my missing sample so I can compare! 😅
@tammyroxanne. They are night and day sadly. The old one is one of my favourites ever
