Here I am in 2024, sitting listening to this in the wake of Epic Mickey Reburshed being announced waiting for peak to hit once again. God this was such a good game
Im about 8 years late on this video, but i just felt like really making the comment that Epic Mickey is such an underrated video game. It has it's gameplay flaws and stuff, but it's the atmosphere, creative story and MUSIC that make the game a memorable one for me.
@@cliff1634 Me too! This game was such an important part of my childhood; the amazingly dark atmosphere, the music, the characters, and of course the great story. Epic Mickey created such a terrifying world for me as a kid, but I kept coming back to it no matter how much it scared me. Also, its reapply nice to see that people still come back to it now and again. It's not often that I hear people talking about this game.
Yes, I agree. They could have collaborated with another company to help make EM3 or waited until they had enough money. Warren Spector said that the third game would have left Wasteland, so I wonder what it would have been. Maybe another company will make EM3 in the near or distant future.
@@thenerdoflife4302 it would have taken place with the Pete's because at the end of em2 they Petes kidnap a gremlin just don't know where also they were going to make ed which would have been epic donald
This song gives you emotions. It makes you feel sorry for all the toons in Wasteland and for what happened-forgetting those characters and the effects of Mickey creating the Phantom Blot that ruined Wasteland, especially the first part of the song. The battle music gives you hope for Wasteland, because of how heroic it sounds. This song makes you think of Wasteland as a whole, with its characters and places, as well as how they got there and their history. This is one of my favorite songs from the game.
0:21 that part alone makes James Dooley one of my all time favorite composers. There’s just something dark yet beautiful about this track as the title implies.
"Beauty in its glory days always has its happier charms--it's warm...enchanting...bright...but....once it becomes nothing but a forgotten memory, that's just it. once you discover it in its forgotten place, it's melody still plays the same, but....there's no warmth. it's nothing but sadness, a forgotten Beauty that can play its enchantment...but can only bring you sadness the more you listen." ...don't ask why I wrote that. ^^; I was thinking of a character of mine who might say the same thing.
Same here.but I'm still developing a New character for the new mlp epic mickey movie in 10 15 possibly 20 years could sooner could be later still not sure. But one thing I do know. Is that it's gonna take a pretty long time.
That's awesome! It's great to see some other people that appreciate creative expression! I'm a writer, and make characters too! :P, and this game was when my creative kick kinda started.
This is one of the more unique Disney game, heck one of the more unique Wii games. Shame it and its sequel didn't get the love they deserved. The Epic Mickey we have is a shadow of the original concept they had for the title. The game was meant to be A LOT darker than it is, and I think the music is one of the leftovers from that darker game and it works so well
I actually really liked EM. Yes, the gameplay had its flaws, but the story and characters were its saving grace. EM 2 had sort of the reverse flaws. There were more options in gameplay so I was a lot less bored with it, but the story was weaker, compared to what was, essentially, Toy Story but with cartoon characters. Also, Gus is up there with Navi from Zelda as a very annoyingly talkative character. So, I have a love-hate relationship with EM 2.
I was very excited about the soundtrack of this video game. It brings back memories every time I played it day after day, but I felt some fear without any apparent reaction.
We cannot compare this game to anything, its unique in it's style and that dark atmosphere.... wow.. it leaves me speechless, I had so much nostalgia coming back in this game
@MidnightWonko The theme of the music in the different worlds change depending on how much paint or thinner you use. It tends to sound more eerie in thinner, and more cheerful in paint. This track also shows the dramatic music changes when fighting enemies.
I’mJustAlex I miss good action platformers with good music like this. This is the game that made me fall in love with the genre and I come back to either the game or soundtrack every couple years. I wish Disney went dark like this more often.
My favourite area. The music alone makes you feel like this place was once beautiful but now a shell of its former glory.... Reminds me of a certain other castle in a certain Disney movie.🥀
I agree, dark beauty castle was a once awe inspiring castle and was left in a state of disrepair for years to come until Mickey and Oswald restored wasteland
I think I would've like epic mickey 2 a lot more if they didn't go the steampunk route, if they made it just as creepy and mysterious as the first one I would have loved it. There were moments where I was legitly scared in the first one, but 2 kinda disappointed me
I agree. And besides the theme, the story was totally underdeveloped. Having the Mad Doctor come back was good, because I liked him in the first one, but I was expecting a better villain. He's good, but not the best.
Yeah, and it's kind of hard to take a villain seriously when all they do is sing, then show up for a boss battle at the end. For me, a good boss makes me hate them, like the Blot, or even the Mad Doctor in the first game.
This is to me the perfect video game. It has its flaws, but I love everything about it: the aesthetic, the gameplay, the story and the music. Too bad the second game doesn't really stand out. Still hoping for a third game one day...

Imagine how amazing it would be if somebody made a restored wasteland mod
@dialntone Unfortunately you HAVE to solve the mural puzzle the bad way to find the last reel. There are some hidden gears that hold some chandeliers in the castle. If you knock them all, they will smash the Throne Room to pieces, and reveal a different film reel than the one where you paint the murals in. But that will really piss Oswald off.
It's so hard to think straight when you're playing this game, 'specially if you're a Disney fan and grew up with this animations/shows/movies. 'Cause... this Wasteland that Mickey totally accidentally created is such a sad, and well...lonely place. And all of the characters, even Oswald are all correct. Nobody watches them anymore.
@365ral I'll have to try running that one up the flagpole on the second playthrough and see if the game salutes it, but damn, it's like 80% of the song sounds completely unrecognizable!
you know, everything can be forgotten in the past and no one watches anymore right? but in the future it can be brought back everything, everyone even oswald could come back right? so here a saying "once forgotten in the past and the past return to future to be remember 4-ever"
Well, the reason the second game did badly was because Disney rushed them. Funny, Disney never rushed Square Enix, did they? And Spiderman?! Bad idea. Marvel is too realistic (other than the magic, superpowers, Sci-Fi, Deadpool's Fourth Wall Breaking, and the unrealistic proportions and outfits of the female characters)
"Epic Mickey" had more things to do in each segment of the game. The segments are separated based on boss battles. So the first segment is the part of the game up to the Blotworx Dragon fight, the second segment is the part of the game up to the boss fight with Prescott's machine (I don't know what it's called XD.) The third segment is the part of the game up to the Mad Doctor boss fight. I also don't like how they barely mentioned the events of the first game. Yes, there were the Dioramas, Blot Alley, and other things, but I feel like it's good for new and old fans: to tell new fans what happened in the old game and to remind old fans what happened, as well as making a nostalgic connection. Going back to the segments in "Epic Mickey 2", there were side quests that had you to go back and forth between places and side quests you had to do along with the main mission in each segment. The second game lacked much of that, but I think the frustrating going-back-and-forth in the first game contributed to its success in a way. In the first game, there was a pre-segment, which is the Dark Beauty Castle part to the Clock Tower fight. It would have been cool if the second game had sort of a pre-segment instead of cramming all of the training into the Dark Beauty Castle part. Some people like to warm up a little in a game before getting into the actual action. Despite all of these, the second game was really awesome and I personally enjoyed the musical parts.

If Mickey is in the next Smash Bros I hope this music makes it in
