Excellent review! Recently ordered SIM 2 Max OS 5-PW with MMT Flex "A" graphite shafts. 3 and 4 SIM 2 Max Rescues. Fitted by Taylormade represent ative at my Club.. Enjoyed the video... thanks!
Not a lover of Taylor made...one of the first companies to start the silly lofts... a big issue these days about getting fitted . Most Pros only get a 6 iron for fitting purposes, due to the cost . So you end up buying a full set based on how you hit a 6 iron Great video again 👏
Then you need to find a better fitter. There's more to fitting than determining what brand/model you hit well. Sounds like you're simply demoing them, not getting fitted. Are they checking lie angle? Are they checking gapping to adjust lofts? Do they try a couple different shaft weights? If not, it's not a fitting
@@RetroRepairs I have proper fittings , lofts and lie angles checked and adjusted .Grip size too, due to not all manufacturers standard grips being the same ( grips on cobra tend to be thicker) Try a range of shafts for launch angle and spin
@@waynedouglas256 so I'm not understanding the problem. Hitting the 6i can give you an idea of certain models to try, but for a full fitting you'll be going through the set. Off the rack sets aren't really ideal for most people.
Hit the MaxOS pretty well. My handicap is 12-14, but I’ve also had back surgery that has taken a tad of my mobility, but still fairly athletic. Would you say the MaxOS are smart for that extra oomph and edge, or should I go with the standard SIM2 Max? Currently hitting M2’s.
Nice review. TM SIM 2 MAX OS #4 iron is very interesting. Its loft is 18 degree. It is a very good alternative for hybrid replacement. I'm looking forward whether you will do comparison test on TM SIM2 MAX OS especially its #4 iron against other competitors which have same loft (18 degree), such as Callaway MAVRIK #4 iron, and Wilson D9 #4 iron
Agree with you about the need to consider loft intervals Ali. I wonder if the lofting profile of irons is helping the high handicap player. 26.5 degrees wash a 5 iron back in the day. Most 24 handicaps don’t have distance gaps between 6,5 & 4 iron, so why condense the lofts?
There is no better time for Taylormade or indeed any brand to bring out these kind of clubs, folk getting back to golf even the ones that didn't play it much will need all the help and they will have plenty of spare cash since the lockdown lol I don't think anyone that orders the 4 iron in beginner clubs ever use them from the fairway, they are a perfect club off the tee for someone that doesn't hit it very far on longer par 3s easier to hit than a hybrid for Sunday golfers.
Need to ball flight versus normal lofted irons. It’s significantly higher trajectory then lowering the lofts is fine ( granted gapping then probably becomes an issue) if it’s nearly the same than you just buy less clubs( probably starting at 7 or 8 iron)
Any thoughts on the Max vs Max OS? Going to order for my fiance. She is relatively new to golf, but her swing is coming around quickly. She will probably be kicking my butt in a year or two. She is fairly petite. Can't seem to decide, and struggling to find them in stock around me to have her test. She quickly gravitated towards a smaller blade style wedge when we bought her one last week. She is hitting her current 7 iron (cheap top flight) around 115 yards.
How do you compare against the 2021 pxg 0211? I am a beginner and looking for a good forgiving iron! Which one do you recommend it! Thank you the output!!!
I'd like to see someone with a slower swing speed like mine! I'd assume that the distance between clubs would not be 15 yards, perhaps closer to the 10 yards you stated.
Waiting on my set as I type. Love the feel of the Max out of 6 clubs I tested. Only wish it had a 3 iron. If I could get it with a 3 iron I'd dump my 5 wood in a heartbeat.
How reliable are these simulators? I hit the SIM2 Max really well. Consistently down the middle most of the time compared to others. Is that enough to be confident that it will translate to the course?
Burner Plus was 2008. lol I know...hard to believe. I have Burner 2.0 introduced in 2010, but I probably purchased them in 2012 or so. I just purchased the SIM II OS 6-SW (7 irons). I'm 55 with back issues and my swing speed is on the border of Reg and Stiff, so I went with the Reg., as my swing speed will only go down during the life of these irons. To answer your question, I feel the the regular SIM II are more similar to the Burners, but more forgiving and of course the SIM II OS are more forgiving still. Hit em' long and straight!
i would imagine these 4 irons are meant for better players looking for help at the top of teh bag that dont want to go hybrid. I dont see a lot of these sets being bought top to bottom wiht a 4 iron, at least not a proper fitted set
A "guest" hitter that would be the ideal person for this set would be a good test. You're too good for what these clubs were designed for.
especially for us hackers that have slower swing speeds and maybe not as consistent mechanics.
Coming from PING G2 from 20 years ago, I am super super pumped out about my new Sim MAX 2s. Technology really does hekp

The OS isnt really suppose to have more distance than the Max, just a larger sweet spot to help less consistent golfers
Well done commentary on the sim2 Max and OS.
While there is a drop off on off center strikes, it is less of a drop off than any other iron I have ever hit
Really informative and helpful video
Thanks

@@RetroRepairs like I stated MOST pros do a fitting with just a 6i... I didn't say that's how I get fitted. That's why the word " MOST" was used

High Handicap golfers like myself never use a 4 iron, I struggle to make distance and have to use hybrids, why the 4 iron?
4 Iron is my favorite club, I really can't get my hybrids straight so the 4 iron is my to go instead.
You can go online like eBay and get a 5- attack wedge

Bothers me that you lift your head up on every shot but still make solid contact.

Hi where do you see the max as in handicap is it for the better player 😀
Yes, I’m a 10 hcp

I ordered a set as well, is your shipping taking absolutely forever as well by chance?

I just ordered them on the 20th so I'm not jonesing to bad yet. Expecting them in 2 weeks.
@@livinaftermidnight9651 geez I ordered mine on the 15th and they aren’t gonna be here til the 23rd of April :/
@@OoCAPTAINCRACKERSoO
That bites. Now just because the pro that fitted me said 2 weeks doesn't guarantee they'll arrive by then.
so i just order mine max 2 os a week ago. so what do you think fellas now you have them.?
My 5i is 29*. The TM SIM2 OS 7i had been my 4i if I had one. Gaming the JPX 921(5-GW) Tour 2* weak lofted. Because I like traditional lofts.
Do you think the cobra speedzon are better.
Wonder if they addressed the poor chrome finish on the face from the previous model
Do these scuff up like last years model? I did not buy the last year because of the scuffing I saw on my friends clubs

sims are pretty accurate, the difference is that you're hitting off a perfect lie all the time obviously
I play with Burner Plus from a couple years ago.. Are those equivalent to the Max or Max OS??... Love the TM stuff regardless

I don't think this guy understands who these are marketed towards.
They're mis-stamped clubs 7 stamping was supposed to be a 5

I keep saying the lofts can’t get stronger then........
Sounds more the jacket....
pfffftt - my 7 iron is so good that it's a 5 iron.
😂😂
👍👍
Dude slow the swing down an hit it in the sweet spots
Hahahaha
Not sure how they can number these clubs in a traditional way given the loft.......don't see the point? R&A should rule on it
I think you need to re-calibrate your equipment.
