I apologise to everyone for blocking the camera, and I also apologise in advance for my further discretions you will witness. However amazing holiday and big thanks to Luke for inviting me out with him to play some amazing courses.
Commiserations fella and very brave of you to publish. Usual high quality production. Painful yet still entertaining to watch your bad day of the office.
Luke you are really brave for showing us your golf wounds from a tough round. You perseverance and maintaining your composure under very stressful circumstances is admirable. Fents looked like he was playing pretty good out there. I just got an idea, have Woody overnight you a Chipper.🤣
The golden rule of golf and possibly one of the main reasons the sport is so damn frustrating, is that the harder one tries, the worse the results. It never fails and for that reason I try to imagine that I am hitting into a practice net when I am making my shots on the golf course. It's the only way I seem to relax and keep minimal tension in my body. But the SECOND that I any effort sneaks into my swing and I'm chunking and topping and hacking my way around the course lol. Great video as always and thanks for sharing your ups and downs.
Except for the fact I'm older than you, our swings look very similar, which is one reason I enjoy your channel so much! Try the intermediate targeting thing, that helped me a lot! Cheers.@@UpDownGolf
Oh man, I felt your pain on hole 9 when all those shots were chunking! Props to you for just keeping on 'cause that's all we can do. Keep going and keep the content coming. It's refreshing to know that we are all labouring in this together and it's not just me! Also, is it weird that every time you have a par look, I get on edge and start urging that ball to go, go, go??
Ahh when that feeling comes over you where you have literally no confidence you're even going to make contact, you know you are in trouble! Haha appreciate that! 👊
Golf is amazing. In no other game do you suddenly forget how to play halfway through a game. I don’t forget how to kick a football or pass a rugby ball, but sometimes I stand over a golf ball and honestly have no idea what to do! I really enjoy the honesty of your videos. I have an incredibly inconsistent game and can relate to your round here (this week I shot +9 on the front 9, including 1 birdie, 2 pars, 2 double bogies and a triple bogey. All my wasted shots were from within 60y. God golf is hard!! 😂)
Yep we’ve been there mate….we all know golf is hard and when it’s just not your day…it’s not your day! Move on now pal and get back out there and smash it! Love that your honest enough to show us the bad aswel as the great golf you’ve also been playing! 🙌🏻 chin up mucka
Gutted Luke. The only way is up from here, and I'm sure the chipping vibes will return. Hitting 127 at Faldo last August actually spurred me on to dedicate myself to learning the game. Looking forward to getting my revenge this year. Love the vids man. Such a down to earth and honest depiction of aspirational golf. Keep it up!
Just recently found your channel and absolute love this episode, not that you struggled with the golf but the honesty and really showing the struggle that we 15hcp golfers sometimes ends up in. Beautiful course and nice footage, will be a lot of fun to watch more of your videos. Keep grinding and good luck!
I would say you should try other options when the chipping goes south instead of forcing something that’s just not there for the day. Look to chip and run with 7 iron, bump and run a hybrid, or putt if possible. Keep ball on the ground for the day. Regardless golfing at a beautiful course on a day like that will help ease the pain of a bad round. And a few 🍻 always help 😜
Dude kudos to you for putting this on the internet, warts and all. That takes incredible courage. Thank you for sharing both your successes and your tough times with us!
We have all been there, my friend. Tough round but you were out there in the sunshine at a beautiful course. And it looked like you and your pal were having a good time. Enjoyed the video.
Like your videos. Keep them coming. We are both 15 handicap players but come at differently. You don’t hit it extremely long but most of the time the ball is in play and you avoid the big number (today’s video notwithstanding). I on the other hand hit it further but I tend to lose 2 or 3 balls a round. Hard to bring down my overall score doing that. Learning a lesson from you about how important it is to keep the ball in play.
Thanks for sharing. It can be such a frustrating game.I can never understand how I can play steady one day and the next like a complete beginner. Oh to be consistent
Fair play for uploading this. I always take a week or 2 off after a few bad rounds or when im not hitting or swinging it well, clear the head and go back to the basics grip, setup, takeaway or focus just on the chipping and putting. Keep it simple and keep grinding.
Tough round Luke, we all have some off days but you stay committed regardless of the outcome. You know what happens after a round like that, a great next round is awaiting you. Hope you have an awesome vacation and trip. Cheers mate
Thanks for sharing this with us Luke! It's ok. Your honesty is great. I can certainly relate 🤣. You're a much better player than I am, but if I may offer an observation, I noticed that when you putt, your head lifts up to look at your ball roll away (sometimes even before the putter contacts the ball!). Keeping the head down "forever" when putting was something I recently learned from my coach and it seems to have helped my consistency in terms of direction. Hopefully it might be a helpful thing for you too! Looking forward to more of your content. Cheers!
Hi Luke, great video mate. Your driving and longer-distance golf game seems to be improving significantly becoming a much better standard. I think your short game is lacking a bit of tempo leading to the inconsistency of shots. If you are able to find a tempo that works for you, especially putting, this could help you drop quite a few shots. I hope this is useful for you and can't wait to see if improvements are made.
Huge difference going from winter play to warmer, faster conditions. You did well, all things considered 😊 Have a check of the exception to Rule 11.1a (for hole 11 on this vid) - easier to just always get playing partners to mark their ball on the green😊⛳️
I’m playing in the Canary Islands at the moment - 3 putting is very common, especially coming from Winter golf in the U.K. this is a massive step up in difficulty - that round is no disgrace to be honest
Hi here is a tip for you , when your struggling on a green roll it to the hole past the actual hole , WHAT I mean is imagine there is a hole behind the actual hole, this makes you hit it further . OTHER THAN THAT SET BALL LEVEL WITH FRONT FOOT , MAKES YOU SWING PUTTER FURTHER.
Love watching your videos. Around the same Handicap as you (I'm a 16) but with a completely different play style. I drive the ball better than the 6 handicap I play with but my short game is tragic. Goal for the season is to get to a 9. I think I can do it and I think you could get to a single digit also!
This will help my game. Whenever I'm starting to have a bad round. I'll watch this and know that my crap is not as bad this crap LOL. Just a bad eh?. That course looks expensive. Takes a bit of dosh to build a golf course on rubbish land and maintain it to that standard. Still I'm jealous I'd love to play bad golf on trip to there so we'll done mate rgd Wayne Robinson (NZ)
Luke tough day but you should also have a two shot pen for hitting Fents ball on the green and the out of bounds is either one shot pen replayed from the original point of hitting the ball or a two shot penalty from the entry of oob
@@UpDownGolf Fents letting you off for hitting his ball means he also incurred a 2 stroke penalty as it is against the rules for a competitor to agree to waive the rules. haha.....But that is really ONLY for those who want to take the rules serious. When I am playing a round just for fun I really don't pay attention to the rules all that much.
Hole 9 😂 been there. Soon as I top the hybrid or wood go straight to iron, then give the hybrid another crack later, 3 strike policy applies before not coming out again 😂. Driver was on it to be fair, get some solid practice green work in, and you will have it nailed
Don't feel bad about your 11. I had a 12 Saturday on a 210 yard par 4. Hit 2nd from a covered mole hole, so it went a foot, bump and run shot into the creek we have to carry to get to the green, and 2 lost into the creek. I don't even know if it was a 12...felt like 20.
couldnt help but notice you turn your head with your swing(especially driver) and hit the ball blind…..I do exactly the same..😂😂 Honestly iv tried to train myself to look at the ball but it just doesn’t work…if i do i lose my back swing …😁😂👍👍

Where is this course at? In Mexico? Btw, hitting another ball that is on the green with your putt is a 2 stroke penalty. So you actually scored a 7 instead of a bogey 5 on that hole. heh heh heh....
Well that maybe because for you like me your playing the wrong ball , as I understand it your h/c and mine are one stroke different , and the ball we should use are 3 or 4 piece for us it's distance not spin , I use wilson duo or callaway yellow without lines for me ,. Or TITLEIST yellow or Bridgestone, best ball though was wilson duo 20 concetative rounds same ball and a further 18 after that , PAUL GOLFER.
