Mike, I have a great deal of respect for you. Not only do you use your PPE the way you should and all the time, you also pay attention to which way the sparks are going when using a grinder to cut metal. I have to wonder about all the guys that one can see on videos that have holes burnt in their shirts or pants. Keep up the good work and putting out the GREAT videos! THANK YOU!
I use the totes for yard cleanup also. Strap one to the carry all. I cut the plastic container into a small bowl so when I dump all the leaves and limbs out, the bowl dumps out with them. Easy clean up.
I have been watching your videos for a few years now and enjoy them a lot. I live in Phoenix, AZ. But every time I pass a Burger King I think of Mike and Hunter. I was born and raised on a small farm in Michigan so I can relate to a lot of the fun things you get into. Ken
And Hunter throws Mike a curve ball again! I'm glad Ty is finally showing Mike some love. I've said it before, you are super lucky to get those totes so cheap. Here the dozen I would need for a winter's burning would cost at least $720, more likely $960
Hi Mike, Just a tip from an old sawmill hand, be sure you use only hard wood stickers when stacking your boards. Hardwood won't create staining like a softwood stick will. If you were already told this, please disregard. Keep up the good work and videos. Have a great 2021.
Good morning Morgan’s. I have 2 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. The boys are 15 and 12. I started a tradition 16 years ago, to buy the boys the Seasonal Hess Truck Collection. As younger boys, they always looked forward to Papa’s gift. Now they are saving them as a collectors item. A great tradition that I hope they pass on to their children.
Good video. I like the repurposing idea. I also like that you helped your mom. That’s always good. That was a good feeling video. Just kind of laid back getting it done. The small things count too. Have a great day.
Those narrow boards work great for making cabinet face frames and door frames. You can also edge glue a bunch of them to make wide panels...alternate the end grain direction to reduce cupping.
My son has one of those tiny toy excavators, only thing is he likes the color blue instead of orange. He had my father-in-law running in every store looking for one in blue for him for Christmas!!😁 Thanks Kubota! One toy excavator=$12, driving my father-in-law nuts=PRICELESS!!!
Hi Mike, Love your videos. When I pull the tank out of my tote I cut it in half. The top half I cut slits up the corners and slide it back on top the loaded tote as a cover. The bottom halves I keep. I always have one next to my splitter to put all the odd pieces that come off when spitting. This gives me kindling and wood for my smaller stove in the garage and it all can be move easy and loaded as you split! Stay Safe
Mike - Another winner. Thanks again for taking us along with you. Blessings to you, Melissa, and your family. Hi to Hunter (gonna have to try those things you ordered at Burger King). Hannah, & Eva.
Hi happy new year! I just discovered your channel and have been watching every video for beginning. I am raising my two grandsons who are 9 and 3 , it’s just us three. My 3 year old is non verbal autistic. I’m learning so much about how amazing my little guy is. He is so smart and loving. He just started his everyday therapy and loves it. Anyway love your videos. We are Texas hunters but live in Louisiana.
We put a old truck tire at the end of tubes. Putting tube through the center of tire right at the end, then backfilling. It stops erosion at ends of tubes, sticks up a few inches acting as a tube marker along the drive.
That is the neatest machine ever. Id love to do that. Not a big thing here in fl. Had never heard of one till now. You and stoney ridge are the only people I've heard of having one
Mike I love my IBC totes also. Been using them for 3 years now. Like you said less handling. Bring one in the shop, when empty take it out and grab a full one. I take the tanks and cut them I half on a dingle and make peek roofs for them. Use ratchet straps to hold them down. Love them, gonna buy some more when I get a chance.
Hunter...... always keeps things interesting in his BK choices! Is there any way to use the plastic cube that comes with the IBC tote? Maybe cut a few large holes in it.... maybe like 6 foot-square holes on 3 sides, and then a huge hole on the 4th side to load it? Put some smaller holes in the bottom for drainage, and leave the top in tact for the "Roof" ?
Again me about 25 years ago, I had portable sawmill made in Oregon, not a Band saw but Circular Vertical and 2 smaller circular horizontal which could be set up to edge bottom and top.
In the video, you mentioned that Hunter was going to start helping with bundled firewood. I am in Apex, NC and went to Home Depot this afternoon - they had bundled firewood in mesh bags ranging in price from 7.50 to 12.99 per bag (small & large respectively). The large bag had 12 pieces of wood - 12” long. The wood was labeled as “European” - really looked strange! It was enough to make me want to start selling bundled firewood! I was wondering what bundled firewood sells for in your area. Best of luck to Hunter in his new business adventure!
If your interested, I know how to save your 4x4 pith wood. Take the skinniest blade you can find, then cut directly in the center of one face down to the pith and the length of your post. It allows the post to dry and shrink. Then you can hide the cut against an outside wall ! I learned this from Mr Chickadee on his last build...
On the crates I have hinged the cut out piece at bottom to act as a flip down door. Makes it help contain wood when transporting but still easy to load.
Hi Mike, little jobs make the day go faster, that’s what I found out when I was a farm hand thirty odd years ago now, but as long as you’ve had a good day, that’s all that matters.
Good job! The LX 150 is nice and handle it well, your boards are really straight. One thing I would like to add to my arsenal is a good table plainer and router. That way I can trim the edges with out loosing so much material.
Mike great to see Hunter out with you! Glad to hear Ty is coming along. Before you know it, you will be teaching him to cut lumber! I am looking locally for Dot's pretzels that you mention in your previous video. Looking forward too see your bundling videos with Hunter!
Thanks Mike, great video! Nice to see the Huntman go to BK. I’m handicapped now so I live through your videos. I remember when you were stacking firewood, it was fun to watch. Great idea to cut the totes lower, easier for Hunter to get the wood to bundle. More videos of Hunter and Toddler Ty please.
Good morning everyone, overslept again this morning. 24º in Kansas City now. Need to do laundry today, Hunter is welcome to help. Stay safe, be humble & kind and Have a day.
Give Ty a few years, let him get to know you. My dad was a business man. His energy, time and mind were dedicated to the company. It was my mom's dad, pa-paw, that I spent so much time with. I grew to love him dearly. At 5 years old, we moved into a development and a year later they bought the house directly across the street. Behind their house was my playground, the forest. He worked for Duke Power, the area's power company. He retired there. He had 2 strokes and 2 heart attacks, the 2nd one took him. He was pushing his lawnmower. I really felt a loss. With the activities you have Mike, my bet is he will one day be on your heels everywhere you go. I have 5 grandchildren and try to spend as much time as possible with them. I've lost my oldest grandson now, he's a man, in the US Navy, just deployed to Japan. My oldest granddaughter, Maddie, a professional dancer with her goal set on Juilliard in NY. I have picture of her standing at the entrance at age 12. She's 15 now, 16 this year. Covid-19 may change her goals, but I've lost her anyway as she is very popular and is too busy to spend weekends with pa-paw Keith. We had a good run though. God gave me such wonderful, precious gifts in my children and grandchildren. The best times in my life involved my children and theirs. I've still got 3 that like spending time with me, I am so blessed. I was hoping to see what you do with the plastic container of the IBC totes. So how did you get the camera to follow you on mom's driveway? I've seen that gizmo, it's a chip linked to camera. You are just gonna have to stop saying you're not a professional, cause I think you are! Thanks Mike, another great video! 👍❤🚜🤗
Awesome comment! It’s good to hear that you instilled family values in your life. I’m 30 years old and I try to see my papa at least every other day as long as I’m not out of town working. He’ll be 89 next month and still kicking! I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old. And my two year old is all about my papa it’s awesome to see my son interacting with him as much as he does. I named him after my papa since he was such an inspiration to me. He lived on a 100 acre farm and it was my favorite place to go when I was a kid. Hunting, fishing, and playing on tractors got me hooked to my career as a operating engineer!
My grandpa on dad's side, owned a radiator shop and was always in and out every time we visited, maybe twice a month. Didn't get to know him at all. Mom's dad, when he lived across street from sub station, we were there almost every day until we moved, then almost a year later they moved across street from us. Papaw took me hunting, bird trials, he trained bird dogs, he is the man who told me to be a man and stand my ground. Dad was a great dad, his life was dedicated to the company though. Didn't have time for outdoors. Parent's are different today. Children grow up different. Video game diseases, drugs, disobedience, schools are a sad joke. I miss my parents and grandparents. The world was a better place when they were in their prime. No one cares anymore.
Good morning all! Misty/foggy/rainy here in NC today. Being kind of lazy here, probably the most useful thing I’ll do is order a cell signal booster for the farmhouse, and maybe a set of logging chaps. Y’all have a good day!
I never have had totes but built pallets of the same design. I put a pallet in the forks and took the splitter into the woods with me and split it where I cut it leaving the debris from splitting in the woods to break down. That always seemed to be the most efficient way for me. But I only processed around 12 to 15 cords a season.
Nice job, Mike! We're loving using the IBC totes for firewood. We have a video coming out later this week about trying it for the first time, and how much wood can be in it for our tractor to still lift it.
You were wanting to find out when people started watching your channel, because of this COVID I started watching around April, but came across your channel about 2 months ago. You was splitting fire wood, and laying down pallets to stack your lumber on. I find your channel entertaining and informative. I like to thank you about DOT'S PRETZELS, I found them at the KROGER here in Mesquite, TX your right their really good. Have a great New Year and stay safe.
Hey Mike, know what would be REALLY interesting? Meeting “Mum” and hearing a little bit from her about Mike! If she was up to it, of course. Think we’ve met everyone else in the family. Totally understand her/your privacy though.
those whte oak that are dying would make fantastic 6x6 posts for your next pole barn building.wont rot,qnd alot stronger than any pressure treated.those center cores work great to stack lumber on,no waste
Great video Mike and good job with your moms driveway and the lumber looks really nice great color on that cherry boards. Hope Hunter enjoyed i believe with spicy nuggets and glad you and ty bonding with heavy equipment
One of my grandsons was the same way. He loved outside, and since I was the only one willing to put on his cold weather gear and go outside with him, he finally started coming my way. He seemed to make up a lot quicker to people with long hair. By the time he was 2, he was everyone's friend. Btw, you could utilize the slabs for kindling, loose, boxed, bagged or bundled. - Have you looked into the PEG1000 for keeping the lumber from cracking?
Here’s something to consider for the water running down the driveway if you have it crown right , take a 8 “ ; 10” or 12” PVC pipe and put it on your sawmill cut it in half , then put it alongside the driveway for the rainwater to run down without washing out the driveway , that should make a good gutter system for excess water 💦 to run
I came across a channel who milled his own lumber, After he sticked and stack the lumber about 5 feet, he wrap weed fabric around the stack so air could circulate. Then he put a roof on top of the stack using plastic roofing, a couple of logs to hold the roof down. He told the viewers that it worked better than what he did in the past, which was putting a tarp over the stack. Could not find the vlog to point that to you.
You can always find a place for a shovel holder on a tractor, Mike. On the side of bucket lift arm is a good spot. Get a tin roof for the lumber you can lift on forks.
Hey Mike, glad your grandson has finally come to his senses. 😀 BTW: I got another dusting of snow overnight. So far 2 dustings is all we got here in Troy, MO. Haven't used snowblower yet. 😀
the centers of those logs would make great firewood for hunters bark free bundles. hope you all had a nice new years, stay well and have a day. - richard incognito :-}
Hi Mike, I hope your all well! I’m from Scotland, I picked up 4 ibc last night from a place just down the road from me before we went into another full lockdown from this morning, the ibc were £15 each which will be around $19. Have you ever tried cutting the plastic container diagonally over to make a pitched roof to sit on top of the ibc to help keep the wood dry? Cheers Russell
Have you ever done any Quarter Sawn oak or cherry? We were furniture shopping yesterday and they were promoting the furniture being made with quarter sawn wood rather than plain sawn. Might make a good video content idea to explain the difference.
You seem to run the grader scraper in reverse a quite a bit. Ever think about the optional rear cutting edges? Wife and Kids got me one for Christmas and I'm thinking about adding the rear edges.
Mike, are you willing to share what you do with the IBC bladder, one eliminated from the cage? I have some that had mulch dye, and figuring what to do with them? Thanks for all the great videos!
This. What to do with those plastic liner jugs. I’ve bought 4 and am trying a side hole cutout through the metal AND the plastic, leaving a 3’ square hole. So far it’s just pooling the water inside at the bottom when it rains. A cap is certainly good. Just seems like a waste of the rest of it
I don't know what you have in mind for shelving in your new workshop, but I would save those bars you remove from the top of the totes and use them for braces on the back.
Now Mike, check out a Offroad Pallet Jack. That way you could load up several totes or pallets in the back of the trailer, then offload them with a pallet jack.
I use the totes for bundles to. I buy a new peace of sprayer hose from the farm store. I cut it done the middle zipp tie around the tote opening. That way people grabbing bundles can cut there hands. It works great just take the hole tote and it is self contained sales bin.
THANK YOU!
what a good son helping mom out. very cool.
Mike, thanks for always sharing what hunter gets from BK. My wife doesn't really like going there so I get to live vicariously through him.
I use the totes for yard cleanup also. Strap one to the carry all. I cut the plastic container into a small bowl so when I dump all the leaves and limbs out, the bowl dumps out with them. Easy clean up.

Always makes me feel good to see how you are always there for your Mom. Good to see Huntman on a BK run.
I love the IBC totes. They have many purposes. I built a camp shower out of two of them. Works perfect for us “not so short” people.
Mike you have a natural eye it seems for the grade of things when your working things out!
Mike - Another winner. Thanks again for taking us along with you. Blessings to you, Melissa, and your family. Hi to Hunter (gonna have to try those things you ordered at Burger King). Hannah, & Eva.

Oak and Cherry Fireplace Mantels, you will make a killin’ and less cuts!

Great video. We really enjoyed it. So Hunter went with spicy jalapeño bites. Good choice. Enjoy Hunter. 👍👍👍❤️
Looks like a normal day around our place, always a bunch of little projects to knock out.
LOL Hunter, the last time that I was at BK, I ordered the same thing !!!! Atta boy !
Thanks Mike, great video! Nice to see the Huntman go to BK. I’m handicapped now so I live through your videos. I remember when you were stacking firewood, it was fun to watch. I agree Mike. Some days when you get a lot of little projects done can be the most rewarding.
Happy New Year
Bruce from Mason Michigan
Good morning all! Misty/foggy/rainy here in NC today. Being kind of lazy here, probably the most useful thing I’ll do is order a cell signal booster for the farmhouse, and maybe a set of logging chaps. Y’all have a good day!
I never have had totes but built pallets of the same design. In our family, when we do a lot of things and they turn out right, that is a John Wayne day. Thanks Marion.
I love watching your videos. I miss selling cordwood.
Those jalapeno cheddar bites are awesome! Good choice Hunter!
For what it’s worth, I like these types of videos especially when u split wood. It is relaxing to me.
Hi Hunter!!
Its nice to hear Ty is warming up to ya. No better feeling. Enjoyed the vid. Have a great day. 🇺🇸
#66 was my first video. Never missed one since
Congratulations to Ty for getting a free Mini Excavator from Kubota before Grandpa... Happy New Year to all
Nice job, Mike! We're loving using the IBC totes for firewood. We have a video coming out later this week about trying it for the first time, and how much wood can be in it for our tractor to still lift it.
I am happy that Ty has completely come around to the finer things/people in life! A clip of papa and Ty watching tractor vids might be in order. 😁
Good Morning Everyone!
Good Morning Wyatt!
Morning Sir.
Hunter is spicing it up a bit for 2021 🔥
Mike I noticed a toy Mini Excavator on the deck rail !! 🤔👍👊
Thanks Mike
always nice to knock out some loose ends.
Central California Watching
Nice video Mike. I like your videos that are all over the place. That seems to be the way I do things...not always efficient but fun. Have day.
Happy New Year with your family and loved ones. I love you. love greetings from Turkey
Hello from New Hampshire, Mike I found the pretzels and yes these are my new favorite!!!! Thank you!!!
Mike, I like.... videos that are “all over the place”. It’s a representation of LIFE.
Same here, it kinda gives a brake from normal the day to day stuff too..
As someone mentioned -Making lil roofs for the wood baskets out of the plastic tanks, is a good idea
You missed one thing you accomplished at 20:00.... you made another great video for RUclips. Thanks Mike!
You were wanting to find out when people started watching your channel, because of this COVID I started watching around April, but came across your channel about 2 months ago. You was splitting fire wood, and laying down pallets to stack your lumber on. I find your channel entertaining and informative. Hey Mike, know what would be REALLY interesting? Meeting “Mum” and hearing a little bit from her about Mike! If she was up to it, of course. Think we’ve met everyone else in the family. Totally understand her/your privacy though.
What a great idea - then that would complete the circle ⭕ !!
those whte oak that are dying would make fantastic 6x6 posts for your next pole barn building.wont rot,qnd alot stronger than any pressure treated.those center cores work great to stack lumber on,no waste
Great video Mike and good job with your moms driveway and the lumber looks really nice great color on that cherry boards. Hope Hunter enjoyed i believe with spicy nuggets and glad you and ty bonding with heavy equipment
Good morning Hunter and the rest of the family
Good morning Hunter. I hope you have great success with your bundled firewood business. Happy New Year!

Good job Mike... You handle machinery very well... Melissa hang in there covid will be beat!... ***keep calm carry on*** thanks 4 video. be kind.

Good times with the Hunt Man! I wouldn’t have expected him to choose the heat over the chicken. Nice quick job on the driveway edge.
Happy New Year from Central Texas.
You can always find a place for a shovel holder on a tractor, Mike. On the side of bucket lift arm is a good spot. Get a tin roof for the lumber you can lift on forks.
Mike I like those short videos all over your home place, very interesting. Have a good year 2021.
Those plastic totes would make great rain barrels. Just hook up a banjo fitting and ball valve with a reducer to a garden hose.
Not being critical just looked like a good job for little ole Sherman!!
Doing a great job. I know you needed a good jag of stone to fix the hole !
Hey Hunter (AKA "Hunt Man") Thumbs up on your choice of Jalapeño Poppers! You're The Man!!
Hey Mike, glad your grandson has finally come to his senses. 😀 BTW: I got another dusting of snow overnight. So far 2 dustings is all we got here in Troy, MO. Haven't used snowblower yet. 😀
great video, nice work at your mom's drive.. talk about your band saw blade issues, please..
IAM from cleveland tennessee I have a kubota 🚜 like your videos
the centers of those logs would make great firewood for hunters bark free bundles. hope you all had a nice new years, stay well and have a day. - richard incognito :-}
Cheers
Russell
Good morning & I forgot to say yesterday - Happy New Year! Stay well and enjoy every moment❣️ Marcus from Chesapeake VA.
Have you ever done any Quarter Sawn oak or cherry? We were furniture shopping yesterday and they were promoting the furniture being made with quarter sawn wood rather than plain sawn. Might make a good video content idea to explain the difference.
Finally found some Dot's pretzels here in SC and you were right there really good.
Cut and save the top 6 inches of the liner for protective caps on the piles.
This. What to do with those plastic liner jugs. I’ve bought 4 and am trying a side hole cutout through the metal AND the plastic, leaving a 3’ square hole. So far it’s just pooling the water inside at the bottom when it rains. A cap is certainly good. Just seems like a waste of the rest of it
Feels good to get a bunch of those small odd jobs completed!
Have a day Mike .
I don't know what you have in mind for shelving in your new workshop, but I would save those bars you remove from the top of the totes and use them for braces on the back.
Another great video Mike!👍
Now Mike, check out a Offroad Pallet Jack.
That way you could load up several totes or pallets in the back of the trailer, then offload them with a pallet jack.
I use the totes for bundles to. I buy a new peace of sprayer hose from the farm store. I cut it done the middle zipp tie around the tote opening. That way people grabbing bundles can cut there hands. It works great just take the hole tote and it is self contained sales bin.
