Badminton changed to rally scoring long ago, 21 by 2 instead of 15. How many times have you worked your butt off, made a wonderful series of shots for no reward - YEA you get to serve!

Thank you very much. Great game. Not a fan of the scoring.

I love rally scoring! It seems more fair/deserved...if your opponent misses you score, if you miss they score..that’s fair.. just like tennis..it’s also easier to keep track of. I like the simplicity of it!

Maybe talk about scoring during time-outs. Your commentary should be about the live game! Michelle E. is amazing with her exciting commentary, which gets people pumped and watching pickleball!

I'm not a fan of the rally scoring. It takes away from the spirit of the game. I kept track and by my count the match scores at the time they finished would have been: Ben 7 - Tyson 2, Ben 9 - Tyson 7. Ben would have been serving the next following point in both matches at those scores. I think it takes away too much of the game and, in this case, time for Tyson to fight back.

It's definitely different. I used to be strongly against it, but after playing it for the first time recently I actually liked it quite a bit. -Webby

I agree I don't like it, personally, I make a lot of mistakes trying to win points. If I play rally scoring I'm not going to want to take those chances. and for example in my open play area most people I can out dink them so they're making mistakes by hitting the ball into the net, I don't like to play that way, I want to make them make mistakes by playing a little risky shot. getting the ball closer to the net make them pop the ball up so I can smash it.
same thing in singles when I'm serving I try to push my opponent out of the court and my third shot I try to drive it down the line or cross-court. being the one serving is already pretty hard and playing rally scoring is, in my opinion, making it nearly impossible to get a foot up on you're opponent.
the only good thing that rally scoring has is time management. if you have 100 people you have to have play rally scoring is great the weaker players will be weeded out quickly but quarter, simi and finals should be regular scoring.

BS, nobody wants to watch boring sideouts, pickleball will never be big time sport with side outs takes too long to broadcast game . No other pro sports has sideout.

I wonder what would happen ... if you are going to have rally scoring, why not do like in table tennis where one server keeps serving five in a row, then the next server serves five in a row? This way it's more equal. There must be a reason why they made it that way. ps I may be out of touch. Don't know if that's how they still score in table tennis but that was how I learned many years ago.

they do it that way in table tennis but instead, it's every 2 and played to 11. That would probably work better for pickleball singles as well than this format.

I think the commentators should be more entertaining they’re so boring for such an explosive sport it’s like watching golf

In reviewing the pros to switch to rally scoring, one of the reasoning factors was to speed up the game. In addition, it was recommended to increase the number of points to win a game. Then how would the rally scoring really speed up the game???? If the developer of Pickleball wanted the rally system then he would have made it part of the original game. Just saying.

This pro level, not some dink game at local converted tennis court or in gym. No other pro sports has sideouts. Takes too long for television, plus it’s boring at pro level.

it's the fastest growing sport in America and many of these younger pros such as Ben Johns are in college so it's not a career for a lot of them.

We actually had a discussion about that during one of our podcasts. Everyone that lives there pronounces it PUNTa as opposed to POONTa. We didn't want to go against how the locals pronounce it. -Webby
