Maize for Life

CIMMYT, in collaboration with partners, is working to improve the livelihoods of the rural poor who depend on maize. In Nepal, the Hill Research Program lets farmers select traits they need to give them true food security. In Kenya, stree-tolerant maize varieties are changing lives. In Mexico, the center of genetic diversity of maize, CIMMYT scientists are looking for ways to enhance local varieties rather than replace them.
