That line -- "Innovation with intention" got me!!
Mature users don't need really thin devices, they need better cooling and future upgradability!
thin and web browsing only =]]
The memory is upgradable check the ifixit video
this comment is rated M
No. All I want is a thin ans powerful device sir
@@pedroantonio5031 There's different designs available, i guess this is a workstation class laptop
The most upvoted comment on this video so far- with 71 upvotes right now- is asking for physical trackpoint buttons.
The difference in screen sizes is making me cry
I can't say that I'm a fan of removing the physical TrackPoint buttons or of flipping Fn and Ctrl to be like it is on other laptops. The latter won't be so bad if it can be reversed in Vantage or the BIOS, though.
Great features and upgrades! But..
The 3 physical trackpad buttons are very useful to work in Autodesk Maya when the mouse is not available. I wish that was optional
Also, I was expecting to get an Oculink connector like the Thinkbook. I guess I will hold to my X1 extreme Gen 4 for a little longer 😅
btw: Why don't have a RTX 4090 option? even if is a power limit issue, the extra VRAM is sometimes needed.
With my current 8GB I am always short of VRAM at work using UE5.
Anyway, In general, it is a great update. Just pointing stuff as a user, 😅
When I heard of this design change I finally bought the P1G6. The 4060 so far handles AI tasks relatively fine, even though the 8GB VRAM is the limiting factor.
I think there'lll be up to a 4070 available. That is, if you wanna pay like 4 grand in total...@@squarerocket
@@squarerocket its a thin laptop
oh geez.. I'm still deciding between P1 gen 6 vs P16 gen 2 (yeah.. stupid naming)
you guys already releasing a new one..
You are following the trends of Apple. Please focus on customers needs. Don't make your product a high price. Rather focus on customer satisfaction and quality. Please don't invest money for advertisements and marketing. Please build a high end professional grade laptop with reasonable price 🙏
lmao
😂 Company are build to make money you know
I'd rather choose good specs for a high price. The things they are offering isn't though.
A link to a specification would be useful...
exactly ♥
Hi there! You can learn more about ThinkPad P1 Gen 7, here: lnv.gy/4aQNtHk. Cheers!
P series supposed to be durable and properly cooled because it's a workstation. This one here doesn't fit the criteria, you already have bunch of models for incels who can't carry a 1 kg laptop. why do you have to downgrade the P series for serious users?
The world needs a workstation that has AMD ryzen 7945HX3D and RTX ada 5000 would be more inspiring, with that wrapped in that chassis
Ordered a "ThinkPad E14 Gen 6" for a college student.
Thought of ordering this "ThinkPad P1 Gen 7" for another college student. But i see that it breaks with GNU LINUX operating system.
Is ubuntu certification a marketing gimmick?
I would give it some time, it will likely be supported. The P1 series is one of the options Red Hat gives their employees.
I would like to see Linux preinstalled on this laptop.
This is the right track for this video 👍
Is there an option for to normal Thinkpad trackpad? I love my P1 G6, I need those buttons for the 1000 times a day I press them for work!
No, there isn't
@@ithinkabout4369 It doesnt say so in their press release but surely not! Even the next gen X1 carbon has the option of haptic or normal trackpad
@@ultimatepu5h well, this isn't the X1 Carbon. The haptic trackpad will be on all P1 G7 models, this has been confirmed by Lenovo.
@@ithinkabout4369 My point is if its an option on the next gen X1 why the hell isn't it on a workstation? The presser doesn't mention trackpad anywhere either way regarding the G7 from what I've read. Only the pics show haptic. They can be this stupid!
@@ultimatepu5h because the X1 Carbon is less expensive and the mechanical clickpad is cheaper to make. The P1 is more expensive and so they don't include the cheaper option and only have the haptic one.
I was waiting for this. let's see what will Lenovo do with P-series in 2025. Though I like space gray mac m3 max.
Whats the thermal design power of this thing? Id look to look at the temperatures at workloads as well
Speakers:
Should have considered quad speakers (2 tweeters and 2 woofers) and top firing direction.
Display:
Include HDR10 support.
Thermal solution:
Use vapor chamber.
We (Sensel) are thrilled to be the haptic touchpad supplier for the P1 Gen 7!
I want physical trackpoint buttons. I never use the touchpad.
@@sleeplessengineer1450 That's totally valid. So you know, we did put in a ton of effort, along with Lenovo, to make the haptic trackpoint buttons work quite well, and to feel quite similar to mechanical buttons - but of course, it's not exactly the same thing.
That being said, we would love to get your feedback on the UX of the haptic trackpoint buttons if and when you get a chance to test them out. You might be pleasantly surprised, and if you hate it, we'd love to know why. FYI, we're also in the ThinkPad Z13 Gen 2, Z16 Gen 2, X1 Carbon Gen 12, and X1 2-in-1 Gen 9. Thanks!
While it may be valid, it should be applied to a model for early adopters. That is not the P1 model I believe.
The P1 model is a mobile workstation for business, that should respect the ThinkPad philosophy.
is it the mistake in video? both side HDMI ports?
Graphics editor mistake 😅
Hi! The ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 comes with the below Connectivity Ports:
2 x Thunderbolt 4
1 x USB-C (10Gbps)
1 x USB-A (5Gbps)
SD Express 7.0 Card Reader
HDMI 2.1
Audio jack
For more details, please refer here: lnv.gy/44N3mw9. Thanks!
No physical trackpad buttons anymore? Pass.
Fr
And it looks like no user replaceable RAM either.
@@josephwhittaker2065 lol even worse... Especially for a portable workstation
And the battery life 😩
That trackpad is optional like in x1 carbon gen 12. The buttonless trackpad is a Sensel force trackpad.
You already tried that stupid trackpad with the T440p, have you forgotten already?
i have question lenovo. How you can call laptop a workstation without RJ45 ?
When will this be available in EU?
The trackpoint and 3 physical mouse buttons are the no1 reason why I bought a thinkpad over all the other laptops on the market. Now you got rid of those buttons on this laptop, so there's absolutely no reason to get this over the competition.
Who wants shallow keystrokes and no physical buttons for ThinkPad?🥺
Is this copilot+? Does it work with features just announced like Recall?
Hi! The ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 is an AI PC featuring Intel® Core® Ultra™ processors with Intel vPro® and NVIDIA RTX™ professional GPUs. It will not run Copilot+ with Recall. However, the new Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 are equipped with Snapdragon® X Elite and are the first next generation Copilot+ Lenovo PCs with Recall features.

Why cant we get 5g connectivity on p series workstations. 4g on only one model is ridiculous.
Please add oculink 🙏
was expecting the qualcomm x elite
That is not suitable for a workstation type device
What is the purpose with "This isn't just craftmanship, this is a statement of purpose" ?? Who are you trying to fool
Snapdragon Elite Version maybe?
Whats the use, it does not have force click / haptic feedback touchpad like macbooks.. same old junk touch pad..
no AMD version?
one issue with my thinkpad screen blink and during video edit .
Hi @Cloudyraman! Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble. When did the issue start? Please try checking updates from Lenovo Vantage and install all updates including BIOS update. You may click this link lnv.gy/3WgKi7m for guide on how to do it. Kindly check Windows Update and make sure it is also up to date. -Jomz_Lenovo
We love ThinkPad. Please don't chinamize it.
They did not. Thinkpads remain high price with only conservative performance, which is really not welcomed in China. It is the Thinkbook series that targets China markets, with lower price and better performance. Power budget is better in Thinkbook.
Hey i have ordered from the official website lenovo loq but after 24 hrs order number is not generated and still no confirmation is provided by lenovo via sms, mail, or any other means plz helpp

My new Lenovo X1 Carbon gets 90 minutes of battery life running Microsoft Office. Just saying…

Why not RTX 4090 ?
Over heating bad battery life
@@mario-qq7bq P1 gen 6 has RTX 4080 and 4090
I think it would be better with a 99Wh battery
Super ❤
Horrible downgrade to the P1 line, trackpad buttons are one of the great reasons to buy a thinkpad.
Please stop letting those monkey designers constantly try to make the thinkpad like its your only selling point.
Return the buttons, return the goddamned USB A, return the god damned mini ethernet that you took generations ago, and for fucks sake stop fucking around with it.
Come on lenovo where are the AMD Ryzen 7945HX3D workstations...
low carbon footprint... yes that matters the most
No more carbon fibre lid, no more touchpad buttons, no top firing speakers, using a RAM standard that no one is going to embrace making it super expensive… hard pass.
Great product, but i don't know how don't you get the fact that almost no one cares about AI shennanigans.
stop the AI bullshitt marketing hype!!!!!
Screw AI
More bullshit I'll just stick with my Macs.
Whats ai ready bro like it can browse ChatGPT? Stop bullshitting. Give us long battery life like mac is offering with m chips.
it is all about run AI model locally not on cloud, bro.

No pressure level pen, no convertible/detachable, no info of bottom plate (plastic or metal) ... no go for me. Sorry Lenovo.
I had P40 and bottom plate is made of plastic. I realized after a year of use, the exhaust grill was deformed because of the dissipated heat. Needed to fix it with heat gun but it kept on deforming after several months.
Never ever buy a plastic bottom plate again.

How surprising! While Framework is faster at embracing Ryzen 7040, other manufacturers are faster at embracing Lpcamm 2
No front facing speakers??
Does it comes with ubuntu?

ugh get rid of the camera notch!!
The composition in cover is very MacBook Pro

that AI ready sticker got me laughing 😅.. like some kettle manufacturers saying its AI ready
Ultra 9 is still slower and worse than Snapdragon X Elite
Lenovo should manufacture a separate line of 100% GNU+LINUX compatible laptops.
The real question here. Much many minutes the battery last?
Waiting for amd strix point/halo z16 version
The AI hype cringe with cringe music. Dear God, Lenovo, stop it.

RTX 3000? Isn't RTX 4000 mobile more efficient?
Lpcamm!? YESS! FINALLY!
this is a quadro card not RTX gaming
What about the release?
24th
Great updates but this whole industry thing about Ai powered laptops is a such a silly gimmicky marketing strat, it sucks that Apple is influencing this trend. Genuine question here, are there even any commercially avaliable Ai-desktop native applications even in existence as yet and I mean ML tools, not the mainstream version of "Ai"? Or this all the hype from ChatGPT and similar platforms. I would assume we are probably at-least another decade away from an Windows OS utilizing ML processes effectively enough to require powerful CPUs. Anyone using AI-Ready laptops who can chime in -- is it truly useful?
Up to 3000 Ada (8GB VRMA) and you call that "AI-Ready Mobile Workstation" laptop!? For an AI mobile workstation, a 5000 Ada with 16GB of VRAM should be an option ...
No numpad? very handy for cad etc..
the P1 never had a numpad
Would be ten times better with an AMD ryzen 7945HX3D and a Ada RTX 5000/5500 and 128GB of ram, pass cuz it's intel
there better not be a soldered in wifi card like the """"repairable""""" t14g5
