this lightning is the PRO which is the cheapest model. You have pro-xlt-lariat-platinum. this is basically the ''fleet'' model
👍
Hi Dave. . .I do enjoy your videos very much! Full discloser, I'm a life long Ford man (with 7 vehicles in over 40 years), like my parents before me (I learned to drive in a '64 Falcon!). I have a '22 ICE Lariat (my interior is a bit more plush then the Lightening you drove. When I was at the dealer for routine service, my sales consultant let me test drive a Lightening. We found a fairly step incline and I was pushed WAY back in the seat when I pushed the accelerator (think WARP speed). I agree, the interior is classic Ford (per trim level) with a Warp "engine" under he hood.
I would say it's a step above the Tesla Cybertruck ! 😂🤣
Buddy must have taken a bath on that Lightning
Silverado won't do any better. Good luck GM.
@@WBSoCal, my comment is based on the fact people a year to year and a half ago, when that truck would have been purchased, were paying over MSRP. A year old ICE wouldn’t get great trade in valve let alone a year old EV when Ford has new ones on the lots. As for the Silverado EV I’m sure there first few will sell but like Dave said (if I recall) he has Blazer EV’s available. My thoughts are those who wanted EV’s have bought and now others are on the fence.
Can you imagine? I always try to buy a vehicle with resale value in mind. I realize that today that is more difficult than ever.
@@dougbriggs4176yea I believe the Hummer EV is really the only one to retain any measurable sort of value as time has gone on to at least get out even, but hopefully Dave just leased the new Silverado EV and didn’t buy it, because it isn’t far fetched to see the same thing happen as most other electric cars right now and be down half the value in 2 years.
Yes, the Chevrolet will outperform it. It's also more than 2x the price too. Lightning pro is the best value on the market.
I just can’t buy into EV yet. As a dealer tech I’m just seeing the problem with them. I recently purchased a Silverado ZR2 with the Duramax very impressed with it. Great fuel economy even with our roof top tent.
Thanks for the video. Can wait until you your Silverado EV. I know you will a straight review on the truck.
Hey my friend. Awesome show Thanks for your update.
I sold new Chevrolets from 2001-2008. I've owned nothing but GM products my whole life until August when I bought my Lightning. Hands down the best truck I've ever owned. It's stupid fast, costs 1/3 what the Silverado it replaced cost to operate and has a ton of technology. I have a Lariat with the extended battery. The reviews of the Silverado EV came out shortly after I bought my truck and I'm still happy that I bought the Ford. The Silverado EV WT is about $80k and looks uber cheap (like the Pro model you're driving). At least the cheap Ford is only $50k new...
Great Vid!!
They had a Chevy Silverado EV at National rental at DFW.
I’m not a pickup truck kind of guy. A small or midrange SUV is plenty for me. I did borrow a relatives Silverado when I last moved.
I’ve seen several Equinox EV reviews so it looks like they are starting to reach some dealers and reviewers. When will you get one in and review it for us? My Blazer lease ends in February and I may be interested if I can get a decent lease deal. Also considering a Blazer EV or a Tesla Model 3 or Y.
Who saw the Amazon EV while on the test drive?
The Ford looks to be the base work. Truck probably has a smaller battery.
True..
Any idea when they’ll start building the regular Silverado EV reservations?
The Silverado ev battery size is larger then the 200 kw!
Only one PROBLEM WITH what you are doing to to the truck that I don't want you to do is leave the truck as is with all as is when it is with the plastic and white protective on the trick and don't want it washed. 😮😅 I rather do it myself. 😂
The Silverado outperforms the Lightning in just about every category. It simply is a later generation. Of course you pay for it and its thirstier
Can’t wait for video on the Silverado EV you have on order. Any idea of MSRP on it when it comes in. Do you have any price ranges on them
96k for the launch edition RST
It will be very very hard for you to find one at MSRP when they come out, dealerships will probably be marking them up 15-30k in the very beginning just like hummer EV and ford lightning truck when it first came out
when are we getting the new equinox? Looking forward to the RS
The Silverado electric is going to be ❤❤❤
As always, a great video, Dave. But if EVs are so hot, what’s with those incentive lease deals?
People who will trade in a car in one year .. really take a financial hit...I bet it can be 25% less from the MSRP price . I have a 2023 pickup and will never think of trading it in for a while.
Are you keeping the bolt when you get the Silverado EV
Yup
If EVs can get 1000 miles towing a large fifth wheel and RV parks have infrastructure to charge them and plug the trailer in, I think they would be nice for me. But I don't see that happening any time soon. I live in my RV.
Silverado EV RST is $100K. Is that even the highest trim level? Definitely out of my price range. I want to retire some day.
Yes, it is the launch edition RST with every option offered... 96k
Any idea if the brake lights come on as you're stopping in one pedal mode?
I have a Chevy Bolt EUV and always use one pedal driving - the brake lights come on normally. Once you get used to one pedal driving you won’t want to go back.
completely agree... One pedal is great!
Dave B come on Dave you know they had different models of the Ford lighting. Don’t beat us in the head. You got great videos but that 400 mile EV is not gonna get 400 miles after you put on heat and everything else.
EVs lose up to 50% of their range in the winter cold. Any battery does.
It is actually rated to get 440... My 2022 Bolt EUV is rated at 247 and I consistently get 279 (give or take) out of it. My AC is pretty much always on.
@@deepthinker999 all depends on how cold it is... NJ winters I usually see about a 40 to 50 mile reduction... less than 20%
@@DaveBsellsChevy In Chicago last winter we had days where it was too cold to recharge the TESLA battery. Recharge stations were loaded with TESLAs that had been there (12) hours and the battery would not recharge. TESLA C/S offered no help. Turns out that the battery had to be "preconditioned" before it would take a charge. Cars that sat outside were more likely to have the problem than those that had been garaged.
I will be interested to see a real world mileage test of the truck and then a real world towing test as well, if it can get 400 miles out of it empty then that will be great…. towing I imagine would be around 200 miles max as about half the range has been pretty standard on these electric trucks in towing situations
Dave, I’ve seen a few Blazer EV’s & it’s a fantastic looking SUV. IMO, that Ford lightning is an ugly looking truck.
I wonder if it will catch on fire…
Nah, more likely that the gas F150 would catch fire.
Rename this video "I sell Chevys and the Chevy Silverado EV is better than the Ford F-150 Lightning". Dave, love your videos, but you are not in the best position to review a competitor's truck.
It was more of my personal first look and impressions
Typical sales pitch for EVs. Uninformed buyers think they are saving the planet but in reality they are not. Most buyers do not have a clue how electricity is produced? Has anyone figured where the used up batteries with dangerous metals are going to go? No, didn't think so. Plus, terrible resale value. Buy an EV? No thanks!!!!!
When did my "sales pitch" mention the planet?
@@DaveBsellsChevy You don't need to mention it... most buyers of EVs think they are doing a good thing for the planet. Where are the used up batteries with dangerous metals going to go Dave? Instead of your irrelevant reply above why don't you answer a question that actually matters.
@@rockford8915 In my experience a very high percentage of EV buyers do it for the savings. Everyone is always talking about the "deal"
FUD
@@rockford8915 You do not seem to know about EV's And you totally misuse the terms "most" and "dangerous", but you are spot on with your use of "irrelevant" on your points about EV's. As a customer for any vehicle, only two things are relevant. 1) Does this work for me? 2) Is this a good deal for me?
Tbh this would make a great monthly (if not weekly) series. One thing that interests me the most about dealerships is the trade ins and I’d love to see what y’all get in every week and/or month in a video format like this one.
Wow, that 14k mile Lexus for $12.6K is a creampuff. Unless it has New Jersey rust, you should have a line of people willing to pay your asking price.
Yea, I didnt even know we traded it in. Going to take a better look at it tomorrow
@@DaveBsellsChevy I might be interested. Let me know if it's still available
Exactly what I was thinking. Recently my dealership took in a 2008 Lexus ES. Amazing condition, only 30k miles, one owner (who no longer drove so family just sold the car to us via KBB)
It was marketed for barely 10K. The first few people who looked at it were like 'nah it's a boring lexus', but the minute the 'actually understands the value here' buyer showed up, they snatched it up without even a test drive.
@@GrandMoffJosephyea probably the most reliable car on the entire lot at the moment and for a steal of a price
I would love your thoughts on the sister evs to the Chevrolets like the gmc and Cadillac evs
I would be shocked if that Lexus isn't sold by COB tomorrow. That's a steal! Those ES350s will go 1/2 million miles pretty easily with regular fluid changes.
Agreed most people aren't going to tow but it's not fair to those who do and have a government telling them they have to buy electric
Can’t wait to see electric Silverado tim
I look forward to hearing your videos.
And you missed the electric Amazon truck at the traffic light. Electric is the future.
He's not familiar with the F150 at all but knows the Silverado will overperform it in every way 😂
Yup, I've seen videos online from other RUclipsrs
Only a poseur will buy electric truck 🤷♂️
You’re not biased against this truck at all. Lol
Why does it still have license plate if it was traded?
That is our dealer plate
He put the dealer plate on to take it for a ride. Did you watch the video?
@@DaveBsellsChevy Thanks Dave. My bad.
Dave, did you notice the Rivian Amazon truck at 13:54 in the video?
Great, honest review of the Lightning. Cool to see in real time how driving this is getting you amped up for your Silverado EV. It may be a plain Jane F-150 in many ways, but that electric driving experience is fantastic regardless.
I think GM made the right choice by building a ground up EV rather than retrofitting their existing truck as Ford did, but glad Ford put this out there so people have options.
Congrats to your Blazer EV customer who traded this in. That's the leading candidate to eventually replace my Volt!
Oh no, my friend. Don’t take the plastic out. Why do they dealers always take the plastic out.? I will not buy or lease a new vehicle at the plastic is out of it. My current lease is a 23 grand Cherokee L. And it still has almost all the plastic still in it. I just love the feeling of a brand new car. And I don’t know when or if I will ever take the plastic out of it. I may end up trading it in with the plastic in it.
My point, I believe the customer should take the plastic out of their new car when they are ready to do so.
My mom sold her 2008 Chevy Impala with 21K miles earlier this year and I thought that car had crazy low miles. That Lexus is a fantastic deal if it all checks out.
Impressed how quicky you found info on the Lightning. Take her back out and put her in Sport mode. That will light up your life.
Just so you know Dave, that trim is the lowest trim which is the pro (work truck) so it doesn’t have anywhere near the features that hat the other trims have nor the battery.
If that Lexus isnt sold within 48 hours after this video was posted I would be shocked...
My mom drives a regular 2023 F-150 that she bought brand new
People seem to prefer the Silverado EV over the Ford offering.
forget about ford vs ferrari. Its ford vs chevy
First
212 kh battery on silverado fyi
Great review Dave
With the one pedal drive engaged do the brake lights come on when you take your foot off the pedal and slow to a stop?
They usually do
that seems like a waist. why not keep the truck longer
What does his waist have to do with it?!
Why do work trucks have to be white for?!!!!
They don't, but most are because they will be lettered or wrapped anyway.
What’s the MSRP on that new Silverado EV truck? Approaching 6 figures? Just wondering, some F-150 Lightning’s can cost $130,000.00 or more.
RST will be just over $96,000
@@DaveBsellsChevy …..Thanks Dave, never thought I’d see a price of $96,000 for a pickup.
Tell us how much you love those electric power trains in 5 years. Imagine having to constantly drive these things with a hyper-mileing mindset while suffering from range anxiety
What happens in 5 years?
@@DaveBsellsChevy battery degradation and depreciation
Dave, please. EVs are not cheaper when considering TCO
total cost of ownership after the first few years yes yes they are cheaper.
I was referring to my personal experience. Waaaaaaay cheaper than comparable gas vehicles I have owned especially considering TCO.
I think that they can be cheaper or break even with ICE vehicles, I think what people need to remember and where people are disillusioned is that EV’s will still need repairs, batteries don’t last forever so when 120k-150k miles are on the battery and you have to replace it out of warranty when at current prices you have to shell out $20k for a new battery pack on average you almost Negate all savings over an ICE vehicle at that time, now I do think battery replacement prices will come down in the next 3-5 years but people need to keep that in mind if they plan to keep it long term to plan for that inevitability. I love the convenience and driving characteristics of EV and I have owned and will own them but at the same time I am not naive to the fact there are major costs down the line related to the components of an EV
I guess they traded in the Lightning cause it failed as a truck
