Many of the folks who were living in Washington, D.C., Anacostia area, were pushed out to P.G. County, during the Williams administration. I used to treat many of them at D.C.General Hospital in the 90s. It was torn down and, is now the site of luxury townhomes. This is shooting is very sad. I’m in tears bc I was a teen mom and I totally accepted the fact my child’s father ain’t want to be involved and I didn’t even want anything from him or his family I just was going to move on with my life but they harass me !! The fact that the car was just parked on the sidewalk tells you everything. Under the broken window model of policing, the cops would pull up, order them to move that car. If they refused, ticket issued or car impounded, maybe even make an arrest for the weapon. A senseless murder avoided, but currently we act as if theses minor offenses don’t lead to bigger things, so cops are forced to ignore them. Enjoy the summer.

The fact that the car was just parked on the sidewalk tells you everything. Under the broken window model of policing, the cops would pull up, order them to move that car. If they refused, ticket issued or car impounded, maybe even make an arrest for the weapon.
