  • In this video I pickup a 76 TS400 Suzuki for a good friend. He has given permission to do a will it run video, so thats what we do. I check over the bike pretty much end to end and check every thing thats need to see if it will run. It runs pretty good, will need a carburetor cleaning for sure, but all in all it is a solid bike.

      @montana2strokeracer  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey man, It's not just your locale. It's everywhere these days, prices are through the roof. You have to find a rougher bike just so you can afford it, then the parts eat you alive, double edge sword so to speak.
      Nice area you're from, I lived in the Weatherford area for several years, spent a lot of time in the piney woods between Ft Worth and Shreveport. Friends tell me the DFW area is just nuts these days.
      This bike I picked up locally for a friend in upstate NY. Believe me he got a great deal on this bike, even with over a thousand in shipping back to him. They are out there.

      @@montana2strokeracer I suspect it was related to the UK learner laws at the time which said that until you had passed your m'cycle test you couldn't ride anything over 250cc, making sub-250s very popular back in the day ... until the UK govt. dropped the learner capacity limit to 125cc! Yamaha brought in their DT400 which was a rare sight compared to the 125-250cc TS/DT/KE/XL trail bikes of the day. I've had my current '78 TS185 for over 10 years and it's still a lot of fun. The low power of the 185 means it's best kept off fast roads (a 400 would score there) but around the back lanes it's great fun and still attracts a lot of interest,

      @@montana2strokeracer a few years ago I saw a 250 Maico SB narrow frame , it had the Wheelsmith style forward mount rear Shock conversion done bitd , but even more interesting had a center port TS 400 engine . I bet it worked great for Mx, trail or even street . Thx for your channel .

    Hi Dale, I have always been under the impression that the TS 400 is a 12 volt system, check it out ?? They have a reputation of running really smokey, don't know why ! I love the bike, don't know why you let this beauty slip through your fingers, Great video !! Malc U.K.

      Hey Malc, I don't really know, I looked at the battery box and thought 12 volts. But the flasher said 6 volt on it. The taillight and brake lights seamed bright on the 6 volt battery. Oh, I know, I would love to keep them all, but I really am more of a dirt bike guy. I wish I had never sold my RM400, so I guess I'm really just looking for another one of those. I have a friend out east of me, that has been on the prowl for one of these, when I found it, I thought he would snap it right up. He thought about it for a while and asked if it was still available. Low and behold it was and at a better price, so he ask me to go pick it up for him. Thanks for stopping by Malc.

      Hey Malc, just looked the voltage up on the Suzuki parts breakdown. TS400A which this one is. Is 6 volt. The L and K models are 12 volt. Kinda makes you wonder don't it. Head light really seams bright on this one. Could be it is running on 12 volt from the mag. But the parts breakdown does list a 6 volt battery for this model. Thanks buddy
