    I used to work in a building next door to what eventually turned out to be a rather notorious megachurch in the Seattle area. I was in a 10th floor office, and could see behind the building, where on occasion I would see an Aston Martin parked in back, presumably parked in a location where the "flock" wouldn't see it. A couple of years later the whole thing imploded, and ultimately resulted in a racketeering lawsuit against the pastor.

    The most wild thing that happened when I was doing Repo, there was a "doctor" outside Cleveland with a BMW wagon, who'd decided to stop paying for everything, it took almost 3 years to get the car & he'd even gotten a brown dash with it's vin plate from a junkyard, thinking he'd be able to keep the car.
    The car was red with red interior. But BMW was pissed & they always provide replacement keys.

    The thing about any large bank is that if one of their branches suffers a catastrophe, everything is still there. They likely have multiple copies of all their customer data and plenty of backup copies. You won't lose your money because of a catastrophe affecting the bank, they are insured (so you would hope). Contacting insurance in normal circumstances would seem very weird but this was just to make sure the car was OK.

    If an individual were to buy a car such as a Ford GT that has a 2yr resell agreement attached. What happens if the car is repo’d in a year. Does Ford try to buy back or does ford just go all out the individual that bought it.

    • @tspawn35
      @tspawn35 2 года назад

      I think in the case of the GT Ford won't even let you buy it unless it's paid in full. Ford has already sued someone for selling a GT before the agreement was up. So, if repo'd Ford would most likely just buy the car back from the repo company.

    • @OneOut1
      @OneOut1 2 года назад

      Ford is paid in full even when the buyer finances the GT through his bank or other lender. When the lender repos the car Ford has no right to just buy the car back. As the man said in the video they have to get at least 3 bids and have to sell to the highest bidder. That law is to protect the original numerous from shady lenders selling the repo cheap to a friend and then going after the original buyer for a higher amount than the actual loss. Also if the car sells for more than is owed against it, which sometimes happens, the lender is required to refund the original buyer the difference.

    • @yagesz
      @yagesz 2 года назад

      @@OneOut1 Right. All of that makes sense. BUT the GT you sign a contract that forbids you from selling it within the first few years. Im curious how that plays in. Since the financer is selling it repo do they have to deal with Ford or does the original owner get it.

    • @MicraHakkinen
      @MicraHakkinen 2 года назад

      @@yagesz Could be that Ford itself (or a company on their behalf) is doing the financing. That way Ford has full control over the terms of the agreement and can do whatever they want with the vehicle after repo. Or maybe the GT is 'sold' with a form of lease rather than financing the sale, in which case Ford retains legal ownership of the vehicle.

    Over here it's easier to repo a car, many years ago when I was at university I was paid as a car hunter for a financial institution, it was a great way to make a few bucks, Rj in Oz

    Why isn't it customary or put in the contract the customer signs that as soon as the first payment is late on a purchase this large that the vehicle has to be brought in to have a GPS installed? Then have a clause that tampering with the GPS will lead to prosecution and immediate repossession immediately? Then if they miss anymore payments finding it might be alot easier? Just wondering.

    • @stuartd9741
      @stuartd9741 2 года назад +1

      I guess its the same as having a mortgage.
      There's some leeway in payments.
      Otherwise finance companies would be instigating repossession on a single late payment...?
      I would have thought 90 days late is more than courteous in that respect.

    • @kurtjohnson5412
      @kurtjohnson5412 2 года назад +1

      No need to sue because any loss on the repo will be passed onto the delinquent debtor with a judgement. Now that doesn’t mean the debtor will pay but no need to sue for the top because the cost of the replacement is added to the 70,000 loss they took on the car which the debtor is responsible for.

      It's a common mistake*
      lot of people try to do.
      They *want* the lifestyle *without* the means to pay for it.
      When it should be the other way round.
      ...
      Build/create the means *then* have the lifestyle..
      Applies to everyone...
      (Including me).
      ...
      I always remember what my auntie used to say.
      Live within your means...
      *If that's the right word.
