Watch out the spicer 6800-1 on the craftsman has a pin driven in the hole by the pulley. You have to drill it out or risk breaking the houseing .
Plus mine had a rubber grease cap on the top you could add grease in.
Hey im working on the same transaxle. Have it cleaned up and ready to put back together. What grease do you use in it??? Do you pack the grease around everything like it was when I took it apart or is it supposed to be gear lube , like 90weight???? Help!!!!
If you use gear lube, apply silicone all around the outside of the rubber axle seals and replace pinion o-ring with a oil seal style seal

Whoo...time for a grease fitting on the housing for the input shaft, at least in the future :)
It's an easy mod with the bearings pressed out.

Is there a Peerless or Tecumseh shaft that will work in my Spicer 4360-140 transaxle? Bearings went bad and scored the shaft.
Does anyone know where I can get replacement parts for this trans I need the 2 spring steel fingers that slide into cluster of gears and engages the selected gear

The gearbox (playing safe) may be fixable if your into pain, i would imagine a 1/2 inch steel or brass tube fitted in the hole with epoxy would hold, but it would have to be the only top case you have left in the world to want to do that.
The pliers i would call ....... all the names under the sun when they slip off the circlip lol, circlip pliers.
i have this trans in a lt133 it will only go in reverse just grinding in every other gear what could this be?

I think you should have cleaned it before you took anything off of it.
If i ever need to do this its gonna be pressure washer on low.

Murray Mayhem Country Living mine is a peerless and I can't get the pulley off I am taking it apart so I can change the input shaft cause I can't get the pulley off I tried pulley puller everything
