Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Soundtrack: Finale and End Credits - Original Movie Score

  • This is a fan edit (made with Audacity) in which I merged and modified three tracks from the original soundtrack of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - composed and orchestrated by Maestro John Williams in 1984 - in order to recreate the score of the finale & end credits as we find it in the movie.
This is probably my favourite score ever, as it’s so powerful and galvanising, and I was so disappointed not to find it when IJ soundtrack came out back in 2008. I hope that all you Indy fans out there enjoy this!
The first part is “Return To The Village/Raiders March” (from the 2008 bonus disk: Interviews and More Music from IJ), followed by “Finale & End Credits” (from the Expanded Original Motion Picture Score), which is then merged with “End Credits” (from the 2008 soundtrack of ToD).

Why would anyone call you weird just because Temple of Doom was your favorite Indy movie??? Temple of Doom is every bit the legendary film that both Raiders & Last Crusade both are. Heck, Temple of Doom was the first Indy movie that my brother & I ever watched back when it aired on HBO for the very first time after its original theatrical run and to this day, Temple of Doom remains our #1 Indiana Jones film ever.

Thank you for sharing this! It must have been such an experience! Pity that critics were so harsh when they reviewed it. I love that Spielberg inserted the cheer moment at the end, before the credits roll (in Raiders he inserted it when Indy gets on the UBoat). The score is so elating and heroic. What a rollercoaster ride of a film this is.

This is the first IJ movie that I watched in the cinema. I missed RotLA 'coz I was only 11 when it was screened. After I watched this for the first time, I came out of the theatre and got myself another ticket and went in again. I watched in 7 times in the cinema. Everything about this movie captured me, the plot, the music, the action, everything. Then I kept looking for a chance to watch RotLA in cinema and I had to wait till 2 years later when it was screened again briefly in a nearby cinema.

My favorite Indiana Jones movie is Temple of Doom. In Japan, it was given the subtitle "Legend of Evil Palace."🇯🇵
TOD is one of the best entertainment movies that America released in the 1980s, the final period of the Cold War, with a world view that was created freely and openly, as if mocking the Eastern Bloc countries. I live in Japan, and at that time, the movies that boldly competed with these Hollywood movies in the Japanese market were "Hong Kong movies from the British colonial period, before freedom had died out."😢
TOD begins in "Shanghai during the concession period, when freedom and chaos coexisted," before the war, and goes to "India during the British colonial period," where the story is about liberating Indian children who are under the control of an evil cult. There is a love romance with a beautiful heroine, and an Asian boy plays a major role as an assistant. The beauty of the young Indian sultan who is liberated from the control of the evil cult also leaves a strong impression. Just listening to each part of this theme brings to mind the famous scenes of TOD.😍
These elements have been almost lost in the current American movies that are bound by political correctness.😢
That is why I want the younger generation to watch American movies from the 1980s, starting with TOD. They are full of fun and excitement that need no explanation.😌

Edit: What Hollywood and Hong Kong movies of the 1980s had in common was that they were free and large-scale works with a worldview that was shot with a film camera without using CG. There were also great entertainment works in Japanese movies at that time, but they did not reach the scale of Hollywood or the grandeur of Hong Kong. Hollywood and Hong Kong movies at that time were the aspirations and goals of Japanese creators.😍
At the same time, it also meant that Japan chose to stay in the chaotic but free Western countries, rather than the dogmatic Eastern countries.😌
In today's Japan, there are some aspects where media such as manga, anime, and games have caught up with the former Hollywood and Hong Kong territories. However, Hollywood today is dominated by PCs, and freedom has been lost from Hong Kong.😇
Not only are both of them no longer the aspirations of current Japanese creators, but on the contrary, they are even beginning to fear that the domination by PCs and the death of freedom will spread to Japan.😱
When that happens, there is no doubt that sharpness and brilliance will be lost forever from Japanese subculture.😭
I believe that people in Western countries who were there at the time should take this seriously and realize how serious this is.😢

The tone comes from how both Spielberg and Lucas were in their personal lives at the time ie they were both going through divorces and were very cynical about things and it translated to the screen in many ways. Spielberg even stated this is his least favorite film of the series now thanks to it's tone but did state the best thing that came out of it was meeting Kate Capshaw and marrying her.
