- According to Mark Fleming, the chief economist at First American, a Fortune 500 company, home price appreciation is a thing of the past. In First American Data & Analytics Home Price index report, home prices reached a new peak for the 10th month in a row in January. The report shows Home prices in January 2024 were 7.2% higher than the same time last year-but it also shows that peak appreciation may be behind us

Of course this is true but all real estate is local, and there are areas where home price appreciation is still appreciable. More and more buyers are hesitant because they're unsure of the economy's strength--a realtor I'm working with told me that buyers are getting cold feet because they're not sure their jobs are stable.
Everyone is talking about this topic ... but no one knows for sure what the future holds.

Listing prices and multiple offers over listing are going crazy in my area . Just saw one sell over list after 11 offers!
I just viewed homes in SC, some of the cheapest in the country. They aren't even worth buying. There are price drops but many go quickly under contract. I decided to build my own on land I already have.
I'm starting to see people in ohio panic sell and list their homes 3 br 1 bath for average of 350k and I think I wouldn't pay 200k for most, people are about to find out this is going to play out like the stock market, if you get to greedy you can lose big time overnight
Your dreaming. Let me know when rents start dropping by 40%. Never gonna happen. If rents are high ...home prices will stay high. Broke people ranting all over about how real estate to eggs just has to come down. Up your self worth and you cant stop hoping the world will react to your personal situation.
@garrydye2394 a guy asked me, do you think I overpaid for my pick up truck 80 thousand for a half ton pick up, I just laughed and thought another stupid person. My home, pick up and cars are paid for. Momma didn't raise no fools over here and when I buy something I'm smart enough to know final price is what matters not the payment, stupid people everywhere fell into the low payment trap by greedy corporations
That must be why we are up 5% year over year. 🤣
