  • Six Flags just announced their new for 2023 additions, and since this is the first time we've seen CEO Selim Bassoul add rides, this has got me looking toward the future. I think Selim will take a different approach than past CEO, and I'm very interested to see what he comes up with. Today, I try to predict what kinds of coasters Six Flags may buy in future years for their parks.

    Six Flags America could definitely use an STC especially since Mind Eraser is probably on its way out.

    A compact coaster would go great where grizzly run currently stands. I think it would really draw people to the back of the park, and if you look at that area on a map, it’s rather large.

      I’m not sure what they’ve been working on there, but I’d like to see that area incorporated into the park

    The one take I disagree with is not cloning Aquaman. I think it makes all the sense in the world to clone. Many parks in the chain have aging water rides, or have recently removed some, causing massive lines at the remaining ones on hot days. Aquaman combines elements of a launch coaster and a shoot the chute, is big enough for thrill seekers to enjoy, but small enough to still be appealing to families. The size of the splash is also adjustable, so the ride can operate in colder weather. I think it has Six Flags written all over it. The only impediment is that they need long skinny plots, which not all parks have.

    • @amusementscape
      @amusementscape  Год назад

      Yeah I can see that, it just depends on how it goes for

    Six Flags Darien Lake could use a Super Flumez and family coaster combo like the Flying Viking and Draken Falls combo opening up at Adventureland in Iowa. An S&S Freespin for Six Flags Darien Lake would also make sense since there's none in-between Chicago and the East Coast.

    Beautification is NOT that expensive. He can easily add a series of smaller family orientated attractions while still working to improve the overall experience.

    I’m not saying Salim’s plan is wrong, but could’ve been handled so much better if he didn’t just go “We have enough rides, we need to strive for Disney quality” because that’s not what Six Flags has ever been and it surely doesn’t work.
    A year of family attractions and general park improvements is fine every now and then, but ultimately Six Flags thrives off the thrill seekers, so he can’t just push them to the side either.
    As for America, Darien Lake, & La Ronde, I don’t have high hopes anymore. The former two have their water parks, and I think Six Flags will capitalize on them, but the dry parks are likely going to be scarce in terms of worthwhile additions.

    • @amusementscape
      @amusementscape  Год назад

      Selim has changed a lot in the past year and he’s not trying to go crazy with quality anymore. However, I agree that the lower tier parks are in trouble

      I agree! Six Flags St Louis is my home park and it is in such sad shape. I keep hoping for an exciting new addition, but no. Other Six Flags parks get the cooler stuff while we get what's leftover. Even the dueling family coaster looks more fun than the one we're getting! Just plain BORING!!!

    The smaller parks should take more gap years to focus on beautification, food/bev overhauls, and retracking their woodies if it means a larger park can get a dive or tilt coaster and a concurrent area overhaul

    If Six Flags has an awesome relationship with RMC, why can't they go back to their conversions of their wooden coasters? Lookin' at you, The Boss, Le Monstre. I think there's still wooden coasters in the Six Flags chain that the company may recognize they need RMC.

    My home park is Six Flags America; and this is what I'd like to see there:
    Roar get Titan Tracked and have MF trains.
    Penguin's Blizzard River removed (it only operates during the 'summer' season) in favor of a Sky Rocket II.
