Imagine how many people only heard music like this a few times in their lives and today it is at our fingertips. Thank you so much for posting this and to Mr. Feeley... I can only hope my endless gratitude is enough.
Incredible, isn't it -how much we take for granted? I believe that Chopin only gave 30 recitals during his short lifetime and most of them were to small audiences. Now anyone can listen to the complete works of Chopin and any of the Masters for free.
Bravo!! Bravo!!!!
Bach maestro!! Sublime is the only word for the performances every time one has the opportunity to hear the best Bach interpreter on a classical guitar in the world - Mr. John Feeley!
I can't help thinking Bach would have been delighted with this arrangement and performance. To my ears it's sublime and other-worldly. I do hope John Feeley will arrange and perform the rest of the Cello suites for guitar. I'd especially love to hear the 6th suite.
Now this is fantastic playing and the best arrangement I have ever seen. Almost all ornamentation in the left hand is a very welcome departure from the over abundant right hand ornaments that are so common (and not always so musical) nowadays.
Capo on 2nd fret. Don’t often see that on classical guitar. Whatever works, I say. Love the beautiful diamond markers on the top of the neck edge. I’ll have to get some. “White Out” is a thing of the past. John, your arrangements & playing are treasures & inspirations for us old folks. All The best to you and yours.
BRAVO!
These suite bvw1008 is starting too gain popularity for guitar, I played it many yrs back from the Yamashita edition's, thankyou as always John and sicass guitars
I’m about to bust a capillary trying to see if that’s Jack Duarte’s name in the edition! lol smh… Pretty sure it is. I need to get that one. I just started in the Stanley Yates book and when I played through this one my soul was ecstatic about it. Great piece! I’m very impressed with Yates’ book for now though. I almost didn’t buy it because it wasn’t like a Bream or John Williams transcriptions. lol
Bach, from what I understand favored an instrument similar to the harpsichord, but not the same. This was a keyed, and stringed instrument, the blueprint of which is not known absolutely. This instrument might have produced a similar plucked sound with shorter note duration (thinking aloud)
What an interesting question. As you may know J.S. Bach was a very religious man. On each of his compositions he inscribed the words, "Soli Deo Gloria" ("To God alone, the glory”). I believe that his devotion to God shows even in his few secular works. I don't know if Maestro Feeley is a priest but it wouldn't surprise me. I doubt that he needs to read the music. That looks like a book of his transcriptions of classical works for guitar which he would like to promote, and who can blame him? There are some pianists who always bring the sheet music onstage, such as Ivo Pogorelich and Richard Goode. Although Maestro Goode is an all-around great pianist, I must add that of all the great recordings of the Beethoven's concertos made by legendary pianists, the one that I think beats them all is the recording made by Richard Goode. Just one man's opinion.
its easy to learn what a capo is for, every guitar student should learn quite soon about that, and that would be why feeley uses it in this performance.
I don't think that Maestro Feeley needs to read the music. That looks like a copy of his book of Bach works which he has transcribed for guitar. If he is hoping to promote the book, who can blame him?
@Curtis T yes they are, and i think its so cool seeing him playing it as he transcribed it, it looks funny but in a good way, i think hopefully for many years into the future, people will see these videos- and notice that .. "wow is he on the cover?" lol
This is the guy that plays the chaconne so well.
His playing of the Chaconne almost brought me to tears. I probably wouldn't admit that to my mates, but I can say it anonymously.
This is the GENTLEMAN who plays the Chaconne so well! I would say.
Imagine how many people only heard music like this a few times in their lives and today it is at our fingertips. Thank you so much for posting this and to Mr. Feeley... I can only hope my endless gratitude is enough.

this music, and these recordings have positively affected my life, i hope to hear all 6 one day
Bach maestro!! Sublime is the only word for the performances every time one has the opportunity to hear the best Bach interpreter on a classical guitar in the world - Mr. John Feeley!
If he is not number one, which i feel he is, John Feeley must certainly be among the top best guitar players in the world at playing Bach.
I have heard many of them in performance and I agree.
For Bach and Robert de Visee he IS number one, don't forget John Feeley, you hear were he got it from.
What a treat. People used to have to travel many miles to see a masterful performance of great music such as this. Thank you Siccas Guitars!!
So fine playing. Expression + ornamentation All good !
Brillant guitarist, I discovered him playing the Chaconne this was gorgeous. This arrangement and rendition is gorgeous too !
Gorgeous. Superb performance of Mr. Feeley.
what else, ha ha, some vino, still alive at 84, and Bach, by Mr, Feeley!
What a great comment! I hope reach my 80's and get to enjoy the cello suites with a sup! :)))

Love listening to this man playing. He is so talented!! Thank you for great quality recording. Everything is pure gold!

Great John! Beautiful perfornance!

I don't post often, but your playing motivated me to do it. Thank you for sharing your music with us.

Oh love the prelude, magic.

Glorious, especially the sensitive ornamentation!
This guy knows how to play bach perfectly
Absolutely beautiful.
A superb Courante, John !
These suite bvw1008 is starting too gain popularity for guitar, I played it many yrs back from the Yamashita edition's, thankyou as always John and sicass guitars
Astounding
Brilliant Artist!!!! Had heard him play BWV 1004...and now BWV 1008
His version of 1006 is quite good as well
🇧🇷🇧🇷 J. S. Bach is my favorite composer

“Really Great Musician “
This man also plays the BEST version of Chaconne also. He is my favorite as of late.
Superb!
Incredible work on the prelude. I am going to try to find the sheet music for that
Iooowww here we go again ......😊

What a hansom man ..oewwmmmmm
Superbe
He certainly belongs to the band of Julian Bream and John Williams…….Bach started it all
Bach was unieke...and still he is ...
❤❤❤❤
the maestro has fingers like segovia...
whatever instrument bach composed for, the work sounds best on guitar...strange

Even though he is reading his performance is impeccable. Is John a priest?

Not sure why he uses the capo here -- as a guitar student myself I'm just curious. Beautiful performance!
its easy to learn what a capo is for, every guitar student should learn quite soon about that,

Somebody knows where to find this particular transcriptions?
❤❤❤👍🌹🌹🌹
👏👏👏👍🇬🇧
🇮🇪
Is Mr. Feeley also on the cover of the sheet music book he's playing from?
I don't think that Maestro Feeley needs to read the music. That looks like a copy of his book of Bach works which he has transcribed for guitar. If he is hoping to promote the book, who can blame him?
@Curtis T yes they are, and i think its so cool seeing him playing it as he transcribed it, it looks funny but in a good way, i think

There is so much music in this first movement - left unplayed - thrown off like a little gigue.
Anyone know where/how to purchase his sheet music? Seems his website is down
No joke ...i mean it ...
👌
Mr FEELEY studied with Dave RUSSEL ? But, it seems to me that they are both of the same generation, have almost the same ages. (?).
I bet he’s been playing guitar for over 20 years
more like over 40 years...
Does he own this church ?
Bobby Charlton plays Bach
What does it mean by bwv 1008?
All of Bach's compositions are numbered, with BWV in front of them. Mozart has K for example and so on. It's just a naming convention.
he is bach
not bad but for my to many emotions coming out of his soul
Zajímal by mne výrobce nástroje.
Seems to be the opposite in every aspect of what bach has written.
Did you try to follow the melody ? (Must be know very very well the original for cello). :)
Very boring performance.
Oh my God he is amazing
Beautiful
Bravo!
