This is Part 2 of our run on Sunday out to Lidsdale to have a look at the Baal Bone Gap Trail and the infamous Bicentennial Trail which is very rutted and rather steep.
Admittedly they have graded through a lot of this area since the recent fires however there’s still some awesome tracks up here for exploring.
Years ago we found the huge steep rock section along the Bicentennial Trail however it has eluded as for some time as I couldn’t remember how we found it.
That all changed last weekend.
Anyway, check out Part 2.
This is a great area to explore and camp and is a spot I’m thinking of utilising as a tag along area soon once all this corona stuff is over 👍
Thanks for all the support folks, greatly appreciated.
A special thanks also to patrons

As always love your type of 4 wheel driving Grant, Nice places and no stress on the vehicle. Great job mate.
jack turtle oh thanks champ, cheers for the kind words 😉👍
I'll be down that way in September camping at Newnes campground I can't wait
Oh sweet, yeah there’s some nice spots around Newnes 👍
The Aussie bush is incredible the way it comes back from devastation. Cheers grant great clip 🍻👍🏻
Darren McPherson yeah the old Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me either. Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍🇦🇺
Shame that camp site at Blackfellows is blocked off, we've camped there several times over the last few years, magnificent spot to spend the night. Always left the site spotless and never saw a mud hole in there. Same old story, a few ruin it for the rest.
Yeah sadly they had to block it off due to camp fires being lit inside the cave which with the smoke and all, could potentially damage the paintings in there. And yes sadly a minority of idiots wreck it for all those who respect the bush and do the right thing.
Another fantastic video Grant. Baal bone gap is nothin for the mighty grey mountain goat! lol cheers and looking forward to the next vid!
Antoni Ants thanks champ....you can officially vouch for the little mountain goat 😆😉👍
Was there last week in the rain. The guys before us turned around couldn't get up, but we went up no problem, didn't even stop or spin wheels. The ultra hard part used to be the huge rock step into the valley but that has been bulldozed away to nothing. The valley is totally rutted out and boggy, we rescued 2 cars down there.
Nice 👌 yeah that bottom bit towards the end has got rutted to buggery due to idiots with 35’s and the wrong attitude. We saw a heap in the wrecking it last time we were there. Going to head back up there soon for a look around. 👍 cheers mate
@@4WheelingInNSW I'm just in a Pajero with 32's. There's plenty of chicken tracks, personally I can't stand mud holes. We got through all the way to Ben Bullen.
@@mikehzz9848 nice one ... yeah I’m not a fan of mud either - too damaging to your vehicle mate
It good track that one when you can get all the way through
Nice one mate
Shad Donaghue thanks mate 😉👍
The gap is much friendlier than it used to be! Was tough getting through there last year.
Yeah it was insane there for a while....
I reckon I need to get down there and do that trip with you Grant. Cheers Steve
Mudduck's 4wd Touring yeah it’s not a bad day trip / camping weekend mate.
Couple more weeks of the rain we’re getting at the moment mate and it’ll be rutted to buggery again 🤔👍 for sure mate, anytime champ
It's amazing that the trail you went on was rated as "Very Difficult - 4WD Only" on the 6th edition of 4WD Treks Close To Sydney. Yet the Zook made it up there. 😊
Normann Aguilar mate it’s a little mountain 🐐 😆😉👍
Nah in fairness the ruts were a lot milder due to the fact they’d graded for the fire fighting vehicles but still steep’ish. It’s one of those tracks like Big Red in the Simpson Desert, when you’re out there, you just have to do it. I’ve wanted to drive it for years however the track was always insane before - lift kit, lockers and winch material.
So to be able to drive through there now, in a stock as a rock Zook, I was stoked - like a fat kid in a cake shop 😆👍
@@4WheelingInNSW Went for a drive here today and ✅ done it as well and in under snowy and rainy conditions. I have to say that the steep entry at the Wolgan side is starting to get a lot of wash outs in comparison to when you when you did this track on this video. Had some wheel lifts on the way down so not sure if the Zook can make it back up there again.
Normann Aguilar great spot eh 👍 would be awesome seeing in it with some snow through there.
We went out to Sunny Corner yesterday too and the snow was fantastic!
Great to hear you got out there and hit some tracks, good stuff 😉👍 what’s your vehicle ?
And sounds like a challenge has been set now for the mighty #Zook eh 😆.
We did the Pinnacle track through Blackbutt Mountain a couple of weekends back and that was certainly a challenging track, especially without lockers 😬
@@4WheelingInNSW it was an amazing track. The view from the lookout was awesome. Going though that valley was sublime. We only turned around when we we encountered a heavily rutted mud pit at the bottom of the valley. We watched 2 Patrols just making it through. Like you, we only have a stock as a rock Pajero Sport and the only change (I wouldn't call it 'modification') are the tyres to All Terrain. Sunny Corner are one of the places that's on my radar that I'd like to hit one day (or even a weekend).
We are situated in Penrith. Mate I'd love to hit some track with you and see what that little Mountain Goat 'Zook' of yours can do. 😉 🐐
@@Triple-N the Pajero Sport are a great 4x4 - we had one a couple of Christmas's back and took it out to Turon - absolutely loved it. Great features and that rear factory diff lock made a huge difference. Really nice vehicle indeed. I have a video somewhere on file featuring that X-mas camp trip and car - will have to dig it out and throw it on here.
Saw one up at Lithgow last weekend with some mild mods, lift kit, bar work and roof racks - looked freakin' awesome !!!
It’s pretty dug out at the moment
What a bugger ... been looking forward to getting back up there now lockdown is over, will have to go and check it out ... I think all the rain we’ve had too wouldn’t have helped
Cheers mate 👍
Nice vid, better to be safe then sorry. Betcha ole mate in the commodore made it thru tho, typical...
Tony 😆 yeah we didn’t see him come back through at any point so maybe 😆👍
was decently hard to get through there on a bike 2 year ago
Yeah it’s certainly a good track, it’s probably already washed out again since we drove it.
Once lockdown is over, I want to go back there 😉👍
It's not just that the zook made it up, it made it up without the noise and soot, wheel spinning and destruction some vehicles leave behind.
Benny true mate, thanks champ. That’s what it’s all about mate, leave no trace 👍👍
Haha, who's the maniac in the white commodore?
No idea mate, but he was smashing through it 😆😆
