Slash is a excellent and exciting rock guitarist. Jeff Beck is a master musician, and is utterly unique in the pantheon of rock guitarists. His musicality, versatility, note choice, mastery of dynamics and incredible technique and bends make him a true legend, and absolutely incomparable. When I was younger I didn't "get" Jeff Beck. I didn't used to get Miles Davis. I also used to love Kool-Aid. Then I grew up.
2 different style guitar players blending together. Beck is one of the greats that can walk in a play , metal, fusion, rock, jazz , blues and it works. Slash is no slouch either.
Sorry that there's so many people out there with no ear or sense of true microtonal pitch. Bottom line is Jeff Beck is in the Ultimate Class of Multi generational players like Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Django Reinhardt, Mike Bloomfield, etc. No one left alive can do what he can do now in 2018. He can play anything at all with more verve, attack, sensitivity, and feeling than anyone. He also builds Hot Rods.
Beck rehearsed with Guns N' Roses for their concert in Paris in 1992, but did not play in the actual concert due to ear damage caused by a Matt Sorum cymbal crash, causing Beck to become temporarily deaf.
Too bad Jeff's tinnitus became an issue. This could have been an even more memorable show that it already was. Lenny Kravitz, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Jeff Beck. And GN'R rarely ever played Locomotive live. What could have been.
seriously. You can sure tell the Nigel character was taken from Jeff Beck.. gum chewing, stance, attitude, guitars.. lol Look on youtube for the Jeff Beck Guitar collection video and tell me it's not Spinal Tap :)
Some interesting arguments here in the comments?! Some for Beck, some for Slash. Personally I think it's great that they made the effort to get together & try it out!! Jeff Beck was a guitar legend in his day, the 60s & into the 70s. But by this point in time (1992) Slash was the guitar hero for a new generation! That's just the way things go, time moves along and things change with it!
its clear JB is so way beyond these guys, he just fits in wherever he is needed or wanted, or desired. Its also clear the hang-er-ons have seen, done this one or two times over, and just want another ride to 'freedom' on the coke-train.
As a life long guitar player, Slash is good but what's he's playing here is incredibly simple. Jeff is still the master. you don't see Slash sitting in on a Jeff Beck song unrehearsed ;) Slash made WAY more money though.

Slash is shit compared to Jeff. There's a million guitarists that can do what Slash does
All that talent on one stage and the audience is Aerosmith 👍👍👍
This is absolutely amazing footage! The immortal Jeff Beck, jamming with the great Slash and Gun and Roses! Musical Bliss!

Slash getting to rock with one of his heroes here
Jeff's little warm up reminds of Maradonna when he used to do his little private warm ups before a game - it was a spectacular ...

The Nigel Tufnell years!
Great rehearsal, I love this song...
In one minute and 30s we can see that Jeff is Jeff! If you know Locomotive song, of course.
Beck's side profile @ 0:37 looks like Nigel from Spinal Tap (chewing his gum).
I think Nigel studied Jeff Beck honestly.. (the Nigel character).. it's so spot on
2:36 glibly clark has a nice smile
this song is a killer one !!!
Proper grown up jam session there

really?
Kinda cool Tyler and Perry on the side of the stage at 5:58
renorocker64 certainly looks like Tyler/Perry.
Is this where Jeff goes deaf for 4 years from a Matt Sorum cymbal crash? ...
Just more footage of Uncle Jeffy moppin' the floor
Good Ole Baggy-pants Beck...
Cant imagine GNR songs played on a Strat
Too bad Jeff's tinnitus became an issue. This could have been an even more memorable show that it already was. Lenny Kravitz, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Jeff Beck. And GN'R rarely ever played Locomotive live. What could have been.
Verbal Kint They never did play Locomotive live. Damn shame.
James Lahey they did play it live - it's on here. They just didn't play it at this show
DoMw94 Shit. Forgot about that. I must've been thinking of Get in The Ring.
Slash awesome...certainly he has the beck,'s respect
8:32 kick drum's tune sounds perfect
Slash getting a lesson from the master craftsman
Thanks for the info.
Jeff CAN'T play in a conventional way.
(That's a compliment btw......)
6:00 Joe Perry n Steven Tyler!
Wow
Locomotion, in my view, appears to exit this vid unscather
I would hate to be matt there
Wow.. huge talent disparity.. Jeff is a beast
Yeahhhhh!!!!!!! Guns Fucking Roses!!!! For ever!
Is that Nigel Tufnel?
seriously. You can sure tell the Nigel character was taken from Jeff Beck.. gum chewing, stance, attitude, guitars.. lol
Look on youtube for the Jeff Beck Guitar collection video and tell me it's not Spinal Tap :)
AXL???
lol "duff get the fuck off my set man" thinks sorum at the end
Beck
:)
GNR doesn't know what to do .. What are they gonna do !? Lolol
Jeff knows how to play the Geeutar, and, chew gum. Unlike many Usanian Presidents, he can perform both activities at the same time!
I think Jeff needs some inspiration, he doesn't seem to be getting it from these two
because his ears were getting damaged during this
Some interesting arguments here in the comments?! Some for Beck, some for Slash.

Phil Noble
And Jeff is a bigger guitar idol today than anyone else.
Would agree like a fine wine seems to get better with age
Quite simple. Jeff is Slash's guitar hero.
Beck is synonymous with guitar, slash just a drugged bum who had one album he still lives off today.
slash HELLO!!! Give Jeff some smile or play back and fourth. NOTHING. So high and another lost moment
Richard Herzog It's a rehearsal, not the actual concert.
James Lahey They are recording it and it's a historic moment but slash is too stoned to notice it's significance
Richard Herzog It's obviously a member of the crew recording it on a handheld camera. It wasn't supposed to be an official recording.
'slash is too stoned to notice' you could say that about his whole 'rock career'
Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na STRATMAN, STRATMAN!
its clear JB is so way beyond these guys, he just fits in wherever he is needed or wanted, or desired. Its also clear the hang-er-ons have seen, done this one or two times over, and just want another ride to 'freedom' on the coke-train.
GNR= not a clue. C'mon trolls! Hahahaha
is this where duff or whatever his name was cymbal caused Becks hearing loss??
Say whatever u wan but here Jeff beck's sound is simply unnecessary I mean it doesn't sounds good when it's mixed with slash's solos and riffs.
and. through it. all THE GRRRAATEFULLLL. F...... DEAD
Your smoke has gone out muppet... go home kid... way out of your league here boy... I fail to see why Beck is involved with these amateurs...
no slash is the greatest
+Scott Sivyer Idiot... get off the internet! Stuff that stink opinion.
Slash has zero ideas.
Jeff Beck looks lost. Its hard to fit in when a band has its technique down and you just show up...
Beck is out of tune
What a ugly hearing! Jeff Beck playing the untuned guitar not noticeing it. Bleah!
what a mess. slash is a messy git player. no class. jeff the master.
jay siekierski It's a rehearsal, Shithead. They're only testing the gear and going through the song loosely, to keep it fresh in their heads.
ok jerk still sucks
Another non musician running his mouth... GTFO jackass

Slash made WAY more money though.
Strat Cat Locomotive is in no way a simple song to play.
