    When a Person has JJ’s Level of Knowledge and Organization mixed with VERY Blunt & also Organized Communication Skills not to Mention his iQ of the Game itself
    That makes for a Great NBA Coach in this Era of Basketball
    I really hope JJ does well, I can tell he wants everything that comes with being the Lakers Head Coach and more and he’ll Embrace that💯

    I like JJ, he's got a great mind for the game. He was never a super athlete but he competed really hard, didn't make tons of mistakes and played the game the right way. Spolstra started in the video department and he's become an awesome coach.

      @@nbassasin8092 strictly speaking, anyone who makes it to the league is a great athlete. The usual connotation of the word super athlete would be attributed to a LeBron or Jordan.
      What I was getting at was that he never RELIED on his athleticism to get to the league but instead had to be mentally stronger than most of the league to make his place. Which is a good sign when considering what makes a good coach.
      Typically, super athletes tend to struggle teaching the game because it's hard to do what a super athlete can do if you're not one. Not all of course.

      I do agree with most of what you said, and you are right about him not relying on his athleticism, and generally him being below average NBA player when it comes to just physicality and being athletic
      but "super athlete" IMO is anyone who spends decent amount as part of the main rotation in the NBA, not just those who are among greatest players of all time
      from 6th man on team upwards, everyone is super atlete, sometimes even 7th and 8th man, because that is essentially only the 1% of 1% of 1% of all basketball players, no need to make it even more narrow

    He's so happy, you can see him constantly trying to hold back from smiling the whole time. This is the best thing to happen to Lakers fans in a long time whether he ends up being a good coach or not. Hes just so happy to be doing it.

      Says nothing to me. I mean it's a great position to have and I wish him all the best. I was pleasantly surprised of how he handled the whole press conference and the questions. I believe he can do some decent work, however the largest obstacle is the lack of resources with the Lakers. They cannot improve as a team and their best two players cannot drive the team for 82 regular season games.

    The underrated part of this signing is JJ’s support system which includes Coach K. Coach Redick have him at his disposal kinda like what Kobe was to other players. A mentor.
    He can ask him questions, for advice, schemes, managing minutes, managing star players and personalities, literally anything. Not to mention, he has LeBron and AD’s support and soon, his coaching staff.
    A great mind and a great communicator rarely goes hand in hand. Coach Redick has both of these gifts and will definitely help him in his coaching career.

      @@Roadrunnerz45 agreed. But he could go as Steve Kerr, or Ty Lue. Nash didn’t have the same circumstances as coach Redick has right now. And that goes both ways as well. Nash started as a player development coach. Coach Redick has yet to coach at any level up until now.

All Im saying is that experience may help managing PERSONALITIES and EGOS alone. Experience is invaluable. And Coach Redick has someone who has that experience. That’s all I’m saying.

    I hate to say this but Jason Kidd was a hell of a player back in the day and it took a while and getting fired to get to where he is right now as a successful head coach with the mavs. I think there is going to be a bit of a learning curve for him.

      Reddick will most likely struggle quite a bit and/or fail completely, as almost everyone does, but comparing him to Kidd is silly. Kidd was miles better as a player, but he's also clearly quite a bit less intelligent than Reddick. Kerr was also a role player and look what he's done. That's a much better comparison.

      I agree. It will either work out well, or it will not work out well. We will have to see. Like everything in life, we don't know exactly how something will play out until that thing actually happens. We can make all the predictions we want--and those predictions can be optimistic or pessimistic--but we actually have to wait until the thing happens to find out how the thing happens. To cite an example, I might say, "It is going to rain tomorrow", but in actuality, I have to **WAIT** until the next day to see if my initial statement was correct. So, yes, I agree with you, let's see how this works out for the Lakers.

    My favorite background quality of JJ is that he was the most hated guy in his NCAA days, yet he continued to cook. Had to transition into a role guy on the pro level, but he made the most of it without letting his ego get the best of him. He's head strong and won't let noise distract him. Now how good of a coach he is will have to be seen, but he has the character to stand up to the pressures.

    When JJ was at Duke for 4 years he ended as one of the best college basketball players of all time. When he retired after 15 years in the NBA, he ended as one of the best shooters of all time.
