I get the same perverse pleasure when everything dies in fall/winter. 🤣 Nice to know I'm not the only one!

I bet it's common and part of the human condition :-)

@@MarksHouseandGardenUK Part of it is the pleasure in knowing I don't have to care about any plants for the next few months, or do anything for them. I love plants and gardens, but it's nice to have a break too.

Hi there, Mark, Not sure if it was the same storm, but here in France, the storm Cataeno passed through, and left us around 10 cm in one day... Plus, super early.. It's rare for our region to get much so, as we are just about 100 km south east of Paris.. However, everthing was VERY covered in snow, and when it all started to melt back, I was super suprised to see that all lot of things did not freeze, annual flowers that were seeded very late in autumn, and even my cannas that I had cut the budding stem off were not even totally blackened, a lot of the leaves are still fine.. The only things that really took the damage were my super tall sunflowers, but hey, those were planted super late, and no worries for that.. I tied up my redstar cordy, and also my rainbow phormium and wrapped with several layers of fleece, when I checked the other day, they samed totally fine.. Going to unwrap today, as the snow is all gone, after 3 days, and it will be a whopping 18C today, it's already 12C here at almost 7 am .. Cheers..

Such a beautiful area! I love doing garden rooms/theme gardens. While I do love hibiscus and overwinter several that’s my extent of tropical. But all those big leaves are speaking to me. So disappointing but such is gardening, now we have winter to plan and dream.

Absolutely. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Then my dreams will turn to spring. Thank you Malinda. Mark

Is sad to have to winterize the plant or let them get damage on winter but is part of it , here in California is just raining no stop for weeks now , i left 1 kind of plant outdoor that is it ! the rest is inside my house , is a jungle here now lol
