The seat that they lost was a marginal one.
In the previous election they got below 50% but still won the ward.
In the by-election the PA got below 50% but won the ward.
The DA actually increased the number of votes compared to the previous election but lost by about 30 votes to the PA.
How do you explain 6 years back the EFF would bus fighters from all over South Africa to fill a stadium now EFF don't need to bus in fighters to fill it's,it get fill now with fighters from the serounding so how can it be that the EFF is declining ???

The point wasn't about language. I asked Wayne about the appeal of Chris Pappas in the context of the KZN vote and Wayne switched to analysing the effect on the DA drawing a lot of Indian voters as the parties that attracted Indian votes in the past are not doing so anymore. I understand that we started talking about his isiZulu skills, but switched to Indian voters without clearly explaining why.

This is an interesting interview but I do think Wayne is missing a point. I have serious doubts about any ancestral democracy in the ANC. The most die-hard guys have turned on them and this didn't ever happen previously.. I spoke to one of the great icons of the movement and he told me it only seems guys who have got tenders and jobs are supporting them. Many former questioned CR's bona fides in terms of Black Consciousness previously but remained loyal. Now they're totally gatvol of him and this has given Zuma types credence. It's a Catch 22. Most white people like CR and most black people cant stand him and he is called a sellout openly. This is a fact and we ignore this at our peril. It seems black pride is at stake here and this is going to show in the elections.. Remember how Hillary was punted as a clear winner in almost every poll in 2016 and it all backfired. I think what all pollsters are ignoring this scenario on purpose.. Maybe someone should explore this as it could be a reality..
THe DA is the Renaissance ...respect for all that they have done... think and dont just speak your mind.... think about the Renaissance...

The DA must put their pride in their pocket and work with other parties to to get the ANC out of government the way the DA is going on people are thinking that this multi party coalition will not work
So we will go through the next five years experiencing a bun fight like Gauteng with the likes of the PA, Al Jamaa etc etc fighting for senior positons in the W.Cape.

ANC only gets back its grounding not fairly Gauteng because of the squatter camps it creates, for instance in Vereeniging Arconpark Bi-Elections it took DA's wards due to those camp. Infact is EFF that encourage people to create this camps but ANC...
The DA and Rise Mzansi should be focusing on the Eastern Cape. Gauteng and KZN are too steamy! If they could get W and E Cape it would be a win!
They could then turn things around down there over the next 5 years and prove the difference!

A bit sad that there was no discussion on expected voter turnout. Please include questions on this in your interview with Wayne Sussman or any other pollster
I am not sure that anyone can predict the voter turnout. This is a number which can be effected by a wide range of factors that nobody can predict. Most of the polls will have allowance for large, medium and small turnouts.
@mikesham3204 thanks for the response. Perhaps ask Wayne next time, how by-election turnout compares to 2021 voter turnout? It may show whether there is greater or lesser voter enthusiasm. Normally by-elections have very low turnout but if turnout is somewhat up, it may indicate something

You are confusing national issues. Poverty due to national governance. This does not fall within manicupality responsibility. Any party can only do so much without national goverment funding and support. A lack of jobs and poverty purely lies on ANC shoulders.

Hedging a bit
Identity Politics only came about because of the failure of the DA to provide good governance to all in the Western Cape. They will have even less support in 2029, if they carry on with the tale of two cities.
I expect the anc on the day will get 52% and that's going to be sad for many in SA.
No chance, the Anc will be lucky to get 42 to 44%
If the ANC don’t get 50+% the rand will tank, inflation will skyrocket and we will all feel the pain

@@bernardwelff8089 agreed, I estimate the MK taking maybe 5-10% votes away from ANC, and PA taking also maybe 5-10% votes from ANC, let's not forget about the EFF maybe also taking another 2-5%. And then there are the other smaller parties like those in the MPC that will collectively take away maybe another 2-5%. Either way, ANC will definitely lose at least 10-15% compared to previous election, bringing them under 50% for sure. Im also estimating around 40-42% ANC (45% max)..
My estimation are based on watching about a million political videos and reading their comments😅.. And also from speaking to people from all walks of life about the upcoming election.. so still not really accurate, but it gives an idea of what might happen.
