I've not heard of that book, but I have heard of some of the jokes. People have lost their sense of humour. Their common sense too. I hadn't realized until I read the Bible that the writing on the wall is in the book of Daniel. So many sayings in our vernacular are older than we realize.
You are right about the Bible and that often ideas and sayings are older than we realise. I think I read that Hemingway used to look for titles for his books in the Bible as they were better than he could come up with himself. Happy reading!
