When I finished the Darker Side of the Moon and Cappy was telling me what an adventure this has been and how amazing it was, I started tearing up, because he's absolutely right. It WAS an adventure and I enjoyed every second of it. 10/10. Will play it over and over for years to come. Fingers crossed for an Odyssey 2 teaser soon!
Think it’s about time I leave a comment here. When I was 9, I remember that this game looked like the coolest thing ever. I didn’t have a switch at the time, and I didn’t want to ask for one for Christmas because they’re $300 and I knew that was a lot of money. Fast forward to Christmas of 2017, and my parents surprise me with a Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart, and a copy of this game. I was so hyped to play it, and basically spent the rest of Christmas break blitzing through it. Turns out, it was the coolest game ever. Now I’m 14 years old, coming up on 15. I’m in freshman year of high school instead of 4th grade. Now I’m into the gaming world, and I couldn’t be happier. Honestly, almost all of my friends today are because of that. And it all started with my favorite game of all time, Super Mario Odyssey.
it's amazing how mario games always deliver no matter what generation! i felt the same exact way when mario galaxy was announced in 2009 and i was just 12 years old, it looked like the coolest game ever each new entry still excites me, can't wait to see how nintendo will manage to top odyssey

I remember on Christmas, my step dad pulled one of those box in a box pranks, but finally, I got surprised with a Switch. It was actually bundled with this game. Both joy-cons are red and it came with a case. Man, what a Christmas. 2017 was really rough on me since my grandpa passed away, and I only had an NES mini. I was only 10 too. I'm 14 now, and I still have both the Switch and NES. I'll never forget that year.

Replaying it again after a couple of years, this game makes me so happy. Beautiful graphics, incredibly fun gameplay, and a wonderful soundtrack. Every time I play it, it puts me in such a good place. It's a type of fun that isn't seen enough in today's video games, and in 2022, i still feel the same way about this game. I really, really hope we will get a sequel soon. Absolutely phenomenal game!

Man I’m watching this seven years later. I’m an adult now and I was a middle schooler when this game came out. I remember growing up with the old Mario games due to my family having old consoles but when this game came out it was insane. I remember looking at the trailer (this was around the time I first started watching RUclips) and telling my parents about it and them now believing me and the game later coming out and me playing it and them watching me like non stop for two years. Revisiting it all these years later as a soon to be college freshmen, it still holds that magic that middle school me had. That era of hype will always live rent free in my mind.

I know about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) and it would be a breath of fresh air to see a returning flying powerup other than the super leaf. So far, this game is looking great.

It’s truly astonishing how little this trailer actually shows off in retrospect. Only 4 levels and doesn’t even show the main gimmick of the game. Yet it blew everyone away.
Jump barrels, climb ladders at an excruciating slow speed, avoid the springs, end up realizing you wasted about 15 quarters just to beat a game... Good ol' times

Nintendo needs strong sales to convince third party devs that porting to the Switch is worth it. More consoles sold = more people that want games. That is what killed third party interest with the Wii U, which in turn killed the Wii U.

You ever notice how when a new open world game with a city comes out people automatically start making GTA jokes? It seems as if over the years people began looking for the smallest similarities so they can compare it to GTA. Sure it was funny with Saints Row, but it got old with AC Syndicate, now it's come to the point to where it isn't even a real joke anymore, it's just sad. actually it was a coincidence because a year after the gaming crash millions of new gamers came wanting video games and nintendo just happened to be at the right time and created the NES and childhood games which just basically speed up the healing process

IT'S GONNA BLAST INTO OBLIVION, THAT'S WHAT! No, seriously. This game is overrated more than the Undertale and FNAF fan bases. The execution for this game is not handled well, and I feel like it's going to be a Sonic 06 clone that was actually finished, but sucks regardless. It's too open world, and makes me think there are going to be side quests and missions like Sonic 06. When I first saw this trailer, we were all teased by a potential Sonic Adventure remake, and got something worse. It's like the trainer in Pokemon Gen 4 that you can trade a Medicham for a Haunter that has an Everstone. They try to lure you in giving you high expectations, and troll you.

Blue Toad gameplay and graphics wise, mario odyssey is better in every aspect than mario galaxy games. but mario galaxy games will always be my favorite games of all time simply because it gave a huge impact on my childhood, and i’ll never forget :D

***** Who knows? It could be necessary to the gameplay. By your logic, the Luma in Mario's hat in Mario Galaxy was unnecessary too. They could've made mario just spin on his own. It's because they do it for added detail. So there's no difference here.
I think it's more that Minish Cap was handled better, and that they easily could've just used Luma again for the whole hat thing. Link's cap still looked the same as before, but when it did show itself had some design, being a bird and stuff. This is just Mario's hat with eyes, and tbh having Luma back would've been cooler. I think it's similar to the way they kept Starlow in the Mario RPG games, people like the good games so just keep the good stuff from them.
I actually only got Mario 3D world yesterday, even though I've had a Wii U for years, and I gotta say, the game is amazing. Picked it up 'cause of Nintendo Selects, but should have gotten it way sooner. Regardless, Odyssey looks even better. A lot better ......than a game that's already amazing.

Can't believe six years passed from this trailer. When there were only handful of games to purchase on the Nintendo switch the game's trailer utterly excited me for the game's own release and for upcoming games. After playing through the whole game collecting the entire moons hidden (999 moons) I can confirm it was worth it. Every stage throughout the game included a different atmosphere, characters and mechanics which were fun to explore. Nowadays I don't play much of any video games and whenever I'm being reminded of them it feels as I forgot an enjoyable part of my childhood that can't be restored.
majority of games that come out are rushed and just obvious cash grabs. But games like Oddesey will always give me that feeling like when I played as a child. If they make a sequel to this I could be 40 years old and still get lost in the game and have an amazing time.

In fact, I personally want to see the Cape Feather. It's been forever since it was in a mainstream Mario platformer (emphasis on mainstream. I know about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) and it would be a breath of fresh air to see a returning flying powerup other than the super leaf.
So far, this game is looking great.
I know Toads are annoying but they are part of the Mario universe 🌌 and they are here to stay.. I agree with everything else though..

No, seriously. This game is overrated more than the Undertale and FNAF fan bases. The execution for this game is not handled well, and I feel like it's going to be a Sonic 06 clone that was actually finished, but sucks regardless. It's too open world, and makes me think there are going to be side quests and missions like Sonic 06. When I first saw this trailer, we were all teased by a potential Sonic Adventure remake, and got something worse. It's like the trainer in Pokemon Gen 4 that you can trade a Medicham for a Haunter that has an Everstone. They try to lure you in giving you high expectations, and troll you.

I think it's more that Minish Cap was handled better, and that they easily could've just used Luma again for the whole hat thing. Link's cap still looked the same as before, but when it did show itself had some design, being a bird and stuff. This is just Mario's hat with eyes, and tbh having Luma back would've been cooler. I think it's similar to the way they kept Starlow in the Mario RPG games, people like the good games so just keep the good stuff from them.

Can't believe six years passed from this trailer. When there were only handful of games to purchase on the Nintendo switch the game's trailer utterly excited me for the game's own release and for upcoming games. After playing through the whole game collecting the entire moons hidden (999 moons) I can confirm it was worth it. Every stage throughout the game included a different atmosphere, characters and mechanics which were fun to explore. Nowadays I don't play much of any video games and whenever I'm being reminded of them it feels as I forgot an enjoyable part of my childhood that can't be restored.
majority of games that come out are rushed and just obvious cash grabs. But games like Oddesey will always give me that feeling like when I played as a child. If they make a sequel to this I could be 40 years old and still get lost in the game and have an amazing time.
