I was in the same boat, had the wired cloud II’s and went for the wireless ones and I have no had no complaints switching to the wireless ones. The battery life is hardly an issue and the comfort and freedom of no wires is great. PC if that matters.

Agreed, my cloud 2 still works after 5 years of use even tho the earcups are now pretty well worn. Its the most comfortable headset I have even worn. I just can't believe it came out 7 years ago and still one of the best inexpensive gaming headset.
had the wired cloud 2 then got cloud alpha wireless. biggest thing i noticed was the increase in bass especially sub bass. also a boost to the highs and i wwas fine with it for footsteps in gaming but i mostly have the reduce treble EQ set from the NGENUITY software. i mostly play fps games and dont notice much of a delay when using an EQ through the software. So if you arent actively trying to look for the latency you wont notice it. comfort wise its less comfy because its brand new so the clamping force is greater but the headband is larger which is good for me as i have a bigger head and the cloud 2 never quite fit me just right. also the ear cushions are a little softer. i really like listening to music with these. im not a "basshead" and mostly like a flatter EQ but these make listening to song i frequently listen to sound "fresh" again and fun in a way. if you turn the volume up to like 70 it feels like a mini personal disco party lol. thats the only way i can really describe it. mic sounds great too especially if you tune it with voicemeeter to drop the pitch a little and boost the volume since hyperx m mics are quiter by default (even at max) than some other brands. so using software to boost it i find is quite important for comms in fps games to be heard well. battery life is amazing. bought it a week ago and charged it to 70% its still about 60% after a week of daily 6-8 hr use
Warning to everybody who wants to buy Cloud 2's had 2 of them from amazon and the both had WHITE NOISE, when there's no sound playing you hear it for me it was the worst in tense moments in Valorant , I would have loved to keep it but it's such a big thing that messed it up and of course I returned them.
I moved from wired Cloud II to the wireless ones and I'm very pleased with them, It's exactly the same but wireless. One thing that needs to be said is that no official EQ and the sound is VERY flat, so I used Equalizer APO for that and now the sound is really great! The mic is the same as on the wired version, my friends online didn't even notice the difference.
I have/had many gaming headsets. I recently picked this one up and was not happy with it, at first, but after downloading equalizer apo I tuned them and they sound great, night and day difference. Just be aware that they will need a little software tuning to sound how they should sound. Great battery life on both. Long game sessions can hurt my ears with these, but you can buy large ear pads to help.
I actually am wearing the wireless cloud alphas right now! (just got them for Christmas) and I can say they certainly are good and I consider myself extremely picky on headset feel and earcups etc etc I love the wireless feel and honestly feel like these are a steal with holiday prices (although I agree the branding and tiers of headsets at these companies and the connection to price make no sense). I wanted to also ask what settings you went for in EQ (I'm not super familiar and would love some direction on changes or what you feel the headset naturally lacks/too much as stock AND what ear cups did you buy bc I prefer larger ones as well and would love to know if you got a good find somewhere!!!! Thanks!
Doesn't seem that there is a big enough change to justify the huge price between the Cloud 2's. I use the Cloud 2's for both work and play, so thats pretty much 11 hours a day its is constant use, and I have had no issues of it running out of juice during the day cause every night I simply just plug it in till the morning, and doing that I haven't seen any degradation in the performance of the battery either
Bought Could Alpha 3 weeks ago. Using the headset for work and gaming (8-14h a day). Yesterday was the first time charging since buying. Also, the sound is amazing and the price was somewhat similar.
I have the cloud 2 wired and the only bad thing is the 7.1 dongle that comes with it. Hook it up to a good sound device and they're amazing!. Although I used to have Cloud 2's with the virtual dongle and they I'm sure sounded better. On windows 11 maybe it degrades the dongle.
Hello Techne! Hope you're well!! I've been drowning in nursing school but I'm looking forward to binge watching your recent vids during the summer break🥳
I originally returned my Cloud 2 wireless because I felt they weren't loud enough like the Flight S. In your opinion is the cloud 2 as loud as the alpha?
@@TheTechne Thanks Yechne! I'm I long time subscriber and like the same sounds as you but prefer a little more bass for thumping effect. I really am trying to run down that perfect headset for my new PS5. Still using my Flight S and having a hard time finding that next gen headset that compares to this one. Any thoughts on anything you recommend? My friend recommended the Lenovo Legion H600 wireless. You haven't done a review for this but don't know if you would be willing to. Thanks again for the advice and great content! Soo helpful as always
Hey Techne loved the review. I'm torn between the cloud II wireless and Blackshark V2 pro since you recommended both often and I saw your comparison video. Which one would you say is better for FPS games like valorant where footsteps are my priority? I actually had the cloud alpha wireless and I did like the sound but they were really uncomfortable for me. Thanks!
The alpha takes the win. I had to return the hyperx cloud 2 wireless twice. The connection feels poor with PS5 with a noticable white noise and every 3-5min there was a electric pop sound. With the alpha's however they have better sound quality (better bass) and no sound artifacts or white noise
Hey first of all very cool review thanks :D can it be that the Cloud 2 Wireless are still from Kingston and the Cloud Alphas are from HP? In your video it looked like that, at least from the branding inside the frame? Many people don't like the HP products, I personally can't judge that, but for me it would definitely be a reason to buy the Cloud 2 Wireless if they were really still made by Kingston, because I love the old original Cloud 2 from them :D
What's your go-to headset recommendation right now for wireless in the 150-300 range prioritizing both comfort for big heads (xl hat size) and sound quality.
Why can't HyperX spend a dollar to put a 3.5mm jack on these for wired use or making them Bluetooth compatible with a 3.5mm Bluetooth receiver adapter.
Ya, I don't understand why The Techne is talking dumb, it's obvious the 300 battery life make them worth the purchase. I bought them for that very reason. after awhile you get use to the sound, but, battery life. I hate having to charge them every couple of days. So with 300 hours it will be once a month. No worries and checking to see if I have enough battery life to play the game. very upsetting to have headset go dead during an intense battle.
The cloud 2 wireless might sound good but they have a bad connection issue with small electrical studders every minute and a constant white noise in the background. Too bad
I had the wired Cloud Alphas and broke them, bought the Steelseries Arctis 7 (cause I wanted to go wireless), then I saw the Alpha wireless and kinda made me regret my purchase to the Arctis 7, but after seeing your review, man! I'm glad I chose the Arctis 7, great sound and the comfort is almost unmatched.
Is the wireless range the same on both? I bought the hyperx cloud 2 wireless for it's range because it actually reaches downstairs in my house compared to my razer wireless back shark V2 pro.
I had to go out and get another pair of Cloud 2 Wireless since so many seem happy with them, and also to A/B test with Alphas. Maybe the first two Cloud II I tried were faulty? But no...third one also has white noise (whooshing sound when silent). So apparently 3/3 Cloud 2 Wireless had this issue. Its a major dealbreaker for me. Sound is subjective but imo its not even close. Alphas are far better tuned as far as base accuracy, imaging and treble clarity. Cloud 2 wins in the mid range, which should make them better suited for some music.
I have been using Hyperx for years now and am currently using the Cloud 2 wireless.I’m thinking about getting an “upgrade” but I’m scared to get the wrong headset. What headset would you recommend that is considered an upgrade from the Cloud 2 wireless
What do you think about the sound? Aren't the Alphas better on sound than cloud 2. I had cloud 2 wired and they were ok in gaming, but when listening to music they were flat.
Wich ones are larger? I've been struggling to find a confi pair of headphones. I've tried: Corsair hs80 (Best sounding overall but the headband is a bit small and the elastic band is useless) G Pro (Small on the headband) Arctis 7 (almost perfect the largest ive tried and very confi but smacs the ears) Barracuda x (Small on the headband) Still trying to find a set that is big enough for my head and has airy ear cups. Next I'm gonna try are the razer nary ultimate and black shark v2, might also consider the corsair virtuoso but I think its a bit expensive... Can you give me a help on this topic? Consider doing a video comparing the largest wireless headphones for big heads... Thanks for sharing
@@Cbas619 they were awesome sounding and quality wise, if you have a big head you should avoid, if you have a medium, you will be fine... They are awesome but not for my head... I ended up buying the "cheap" Razer Kaira and am very satisfied, they are very light and comfortable with large cups, great sound and features (you can have your own sound equalization set in the app and saved over the headset, ready to be used in whatever device you connect it.) Give them a try if you can ;)
Would it be possible to do a comparison between all hyper x wireless headsets. Hyper x stinger wireless, hyper x cloud flight, hyper x clpud alpha wireless, hyperx cloud 2 wireless. That woulda be awesome!
i'd pay 50 bucks extra for the battery life. sure you can charge every night, but i forget all the time and its a pain in the ass. alpha for the win for me. ... and to be fair after a couple of years of solid use the the plastic covering off the padded sections chipping off is gunna be the reason you wannt upgrade. happened the last two sets for me. I could put up with it but I like to buy stuff :)
Great review as always, I am torn between the hyper x cloud 2 wireless and the logitech g733, I have the hyper x cloud alpha and to me it has a great sound stage and is excellent for competitive gaming but I have had it for a few years now and I am looking to upgrade , which one would you go with for competitive gaming and over quality & comfort ?
idk about cloud 2 tho but i owned a cloud alpha and cloud revolver, they both have a very irratating problem, the leather slowly breaks into peices so im guessing cloud 2 will be the same
I can only tell you my experience with Logitech, i used to have various Logitech headsets, and i am not kidding here, after 2 Years the USB connector on the logitech headsets always broke, rn i am using a hyperX cloud 2 (wired), and i am using it since 2015 and it is still working perfectly fine while having a rly satisfying build quality and fit. Other than most logitech headsets, to me theyr plastic always feels cheap...
Logitech zone wired are the best I’ve had so far. Amazing sound and comfort, But I have to get new ones every year or so, audio goes bad over time due to poor build. Which is why I’m here lol
Logitechs are sadly the worst sounding of the ones I tried in store. Hyperx pretty much sweep the floor with all other brands in that pricerange. Just a really punchy cool sound that is pleasing to the ears with comfy earcups. No need to look any further tbh besides maybe G4me One from Epos/Sennheizer with velour pads but not much else.
Sorry this might be a little late to ask, which one is the better wired headset to pinpoint footsteps and gun shots in FPS game, is it cloud 2 or cloud alpha? Most review said cloud 2 is better, but is it much different?
these are both pretty good headsets for that kind of gameplay, and if you're talking wired, then i would say at that point it doesn't even matter. wired is almost always higher quality to their wireless counterparts anyway. i would go for the more comfortable one since they are both going to sound pretty high quality. best thing to do is go to a store and try them out yourself. if you don't have that opportunity like me, you gotta watch reviews like this.
just got my cloud alphas a few days back installed the software but I'm having issues with popping randomly I can replicate the issue when playing a song on youtube then closing the tab it makes a crackle pop noise that is quite awful. anyone else having this problem and should I possibly exchange these because they might be defective.
Actually I heard different I can't compliment on the sound so I'm gonna have to go with what you said but on the mic sound. The alpha sounded more louder and clearer than cloud 2 to be honest they both have horrible mic audio they both sound like you are talking on the mic from across the room and they both sound muffled but the alpha just sounded more louder as if you're still talking from across the room but closer lol. I'm curious though cause both mics are detachable if you are able to switch mics to customize it better.
Hey Techne, I have now tried 3 sets of hyper x cloud II wireless thoroughly, they all suffer from white noise, do you have this issue with either the Alpha or Cloud II wireless? I'd really appreciate your feedback!
Is the cloud 2 working on ps5? Heard that the mic sometimes wont work in chat party on ps5? So sometimes your mates dont hear what you say. Thats true??
Thx. i have the cloud 2 wireless and was considering to get the alpha wireless because it looked better on paper but thx to you i know that my headset is equal so i dont have to.
I do not think they play differently, something you heard wrong :) both of these models do not play for their price, this manufacturer has not yet had a good wireless headphones :(
30 hours will definitely get you through gaming but yeah that 300 is pretty sick. I'm with you though I mostly just throw em on the charger and I'm good. I like what hyper x is putting out there.
Just to add to how subjective sound is…as someone who agrees with you that the Penrose take the cake for phenomenal audio and loves his LCD-1s and the such….I tried the cloud 2 once and hated it so much I never thought of buying Hyper X again. I just bought the alphas and while they’re no Penrose? I actually like them. As someone who wanted 300 hour battery life due to wanting 1 pair to bring with my laptop daily and come home and hook them up to the desktop,
I ended up snapping the band of the Cloud 2 by just pulling one of the ear cups away from my ear when I wanted to hear someone talking to me. I have had them for like 2 years now, was very sad that they just up and snapped on me T_T
And which is better but wired, the alpha or the cloud II, I want them for gaming, I want the one that is best for gaming (not the wireless ones but the wired ones)
fun thing, i am looking for a gaming headset and today, hypers alpha wireless is same price vs cloud 2 wireless. but even with same price, everybody says : take cloud 2
Great video! Hey I have a question; I just got the. Mh5630s thanks to a video of yours, but my buddy says there’s a really bad echo. Any idea on how to fix? I’m on ps5; he’s on ps4.
Just try yourself, sound is a very personal subject, only trust yourself. My opinion is alpha wireless is way much better than cloud 2 wireless mic, driver and software sides. If you were getting bored of wires like me, you can prefer alpha wireless. There is no other product can come close to +300 hours battery life.
Just watched and seen 200 vs 150. It's now 150 vs 120. Been checking. Been that for a month on Amazon. Wonder what wins at those prices?. Edited for misspellings.
Literally just bought the Cloud 2 today, they are charging as I type this now. The "extra" you get with the Alpha is worth maybe $5 if that lol. Hands down better in every way is the Cloud II, have a pair of corded Hyper X's that still work great but I want a cordless option and you can't beat em! Not a paid advertisement by any means but the headphone pads that come with it are good, but they do wear down after time like anything does . Wicked Cushions (google a promo code) make bad ass replacement ear pads, I can't speak on other companies but I've loved them and ordered another pair for these Cloud II's because I like the cloth on my head not the leather stuff (personal preference) pads that come with it.
Interesting I liked the wired hyper x cloud because of the ear pads made of leather it feels more comfy to me, but not hate it's just ironic to me haha I do use cloth sometimes it doesn't seem to be a huge difference but maybe it's more breathable
The extra $50 is coming from the battery life. They are proud of that. Which, I mean it is amazing. But like you said, just throw them on the charger every now and then and 30 hours of battery is still really good.

the sound on the alphas for music/gaming is much better. cloud 2 has a flat sound when it comes to movies/music. I want some bass.
@@Ricketts17 the bass makes it worse for gaming and music that isn't hip hop or edm. with a flatter sound you have the opportunity to EQ it through equalizer APO. i highly prefer the more balanced sound of the cloud 2.
So glad I found this review! I have the wired clouds and been wanting a wireless between these two so thanks for this review
same as you, yet i want it for ps4 or ps5 in the future but it's not perfect for ps. i really love my wired hyper cloud 2, hope the wireless be better.
@@mysterion5312 I use the wired clouds on ps5 it sounds amazing to me.. but I'm also using the 7.1 surround sound connector that comes with it. I doubt they'd be better than the wired tho but I'd take that hit just to have it wireless.
I was in the same boat, had the wired cloud II’s and went for the wireless ones and I have no had no complaints switching to the wireless ones. The battery life is hardly an issue and the comfort and freedom of no wires is great. PC if that matters.

Is the alpha better than the cloud 3?
Loved my Alphas wired when they were main headset and became my backup pair that I leave at my ladies place. Unfortunately the mic port went out but if I ever need a back up after my backups now (TB Stealth 700 gen 2)I'd definitely do alphas again or clouds I always tell people they're my favorite mid tier headset for a balance of sound and Durability but that's just me
Thinking of getting the TB 700 what is your opinion for the price? I’ve tried them at best buy and they feel really good and sound good but i would like to know from someone that has had them for a while
@@Mrhandyhitman so I'd say they're definitely mid tier on PC you can adjust more for console kinda straight forward but still solid pair, right now (4/18/22) they're on sale $30 off so worth it at that price definitely
@@Ty2595 thanks for the fast response. So I guess ill trade in my wireless cloud II for the stealth 700 headset then lol hopefully they have them all black to fit my theme
No white noise on the alphas?
@@Ricketts17 I went with wired alphas, couldn't be bothered to try.
APO?
@@MrJenssen yah "equalizer apo" is the full name of the free eq program for windows.
Is it flatter than on the wired Clouds?
what setting did u use on the equalizer? or did u just apply the apo
@@Jens9807
By default, I'd say yes. But you can adjust it if it bothers you
I have/had many gaming headsets.
(just got them for Christmas) and I can say they certainly are good and I consider myself extremely picky on headset feel and earcups etc etc
I love the wireless feel and honestly feel like these are a steal with holiday prices (although I agree the branding and tiers of headsets at these companies and the connection to price make no sense).
I wanted to also ask what settings you went for in EQ (I'm not super familiar and would love some direction on changes or what you feel the headset naturally lacks/too much as stock AND what ear cups did you buy bc I prefer larger ones as well and would love to know if you got a good find somewhere!!!!
Thanks!
@@Koan__ just play with it or look up a tune online
Doesn't seem that there is a big enough change to justify the huge price between the Cloud 2's. I use the Cloud 2's for both work and play, so thats pretty much 11 hours a day its is constant use, and I have had no issues of it running out of juice during the day cause every night I simply just plug it in till the morning, and doing that I haven't seen any degradation in the performance of the battery either
well if somebody needed more battery life, for some weird reason, and needed 300 hours, 50$ is a small price differance for over 250 hours extra usage
Bought Could Alpha 3 weeks ago. Using the headset for work and gaming (8-14h a day). Yesterday was the first time charging since buying.
Also, the sound is amazing and the price was somewhat similar.
Cool.
Thanks, I need some new headsets for work also. I usually buy Logitech zone wired but they don’t work for my Xbox
Thanks good review, I'd go with the Cloud 2 I'm looking for another headset so might be on my list.

I originally returned my Cloud 2 wireless because I felt they weren't loud enough like the Flight S. In your opinion is the cloud 2 as loud as the alpha?
About the same. They had enough, but not more
@@TheTechne Thanks Yechne! I'm I long time subscriber and like the same sounds as you but prefer a little more bass for thumping effect. Which one would you say is better for FPS games like valorant where footsteps are my priority? Thanks for the support
The alpha takes the win. I had to return the hyperx cloud 2 wireless twice. The connection feels poor with PS5 with a noticable white noise and every 3-5min there was a electric pop sound. With the alpha's however they have better sound quality (better bass) and no sound artifacts or white noise
thats because the cloud 2 wireless came out when ps5 wasnt out and it doesnt say on the box that they can connect with ps5 either
So are you saying that the sound is better on the alphas?
Any difference from the cloud alpha wired and wireless ?
Hey first of all very cool review thanks :D can it be that the Cloud 2 Wireless are still from Kingston and the Cloud Alphas are from HP? In your video it looked like that, at least from the branding inside the frame?
Many people don't like the HP products, I personally can't judge that, but for me it would definitely be a reason to buy the Cloud 2 Wireless if they were really still made by Kingston, because I love the old original Cloud 2 from them :D
What's your go-to headset recommendation right now for wireless in the 150-300 range prioritizing both comfort for big heads (xl hat size) and sound quality.
audeze penrose hands down
Why can't HyperX spend a dollar to put a 3.5mm jack on these for wired use or making them Bluetooth compatible with a 3.5mm Bluetooth receiver adapter.
right, lol
I want to buy the cloud II, but im worried if it has any whitenoise?
Heads up. As of writing this 4/19/22 at 1200 est, Amazon has the Cloud 2 Wireless for 99$.

What are the major differences between the Alpha and Cloud Flight?
I have the hyperx cloud 2 for 3 years now and I am not disappointed
Ya, I don't understand why The Techne is talking dumb, it's obvious the 300 battery life make them worth the purchase. I bought them for that very reason. after awhile you get use to the sound, but, battery life. I hate having to charge them every couple of days. So with 300 hours it will be once a month. No worries and checking to see if I have enough battery life to play the game. very upsetting to have headset go dead during an intense battle.
However I returned them and got the cloud 3, good battery life, I like them better
The cloud 2 wireless might sound good but they have a bad connection issue with small electrical studders every minute and a constant white noise in the background. Too bad
Yep had 3 pairs to see if one of them would not have the white noise. All the hyper x cloud II wireless had the static sound
can they release the gunmetal versions already? really looking to go wirelees from my cloud 2s but I can't stand the red accents.
Argh, same
You're paid to put down the cloud alpha wireless, aren't you?
On a side note. This is just an ad to push people to try the cloud 2s. Cause the mic for sure sounded better on alphas.
the extra $50 comes from battery and what most forget the dts-x license thats shown on the box!
I had the wired Cloud Alphas and broke them, bought the Steelseries Arctis 7 (cause I wanted to go wireless), then I saw the Alpha wireless and kinda made me regret my purchase to the Arctis 7, but after seeing your review, man!

Corsair hs80 (Best sounding overall but the headband is a bit small and the elastic band is useless)
G Pro (Small on the headband)
Arctis 7 (almost perfect the largest ive tried and very confi but smacs the ears)
Barracuda x (Small on the headband)

Logitech zone wired are the best I’ve had so far. Amazing sound and comfort, But I have to get new ones every year or so, audio goes bad over time due to poor build. Which is why I’m here lol
Logitechs are sadly the worst sounding of the ones I tried in store. Hyperx pretty much sweep the floor with all other brands in that pricerange. Just a really punchy cool sound that is pleasing to the ears with comfy earcups. No need to look any further tbh besides maybe G4me One from Epos/Sennheizer with velour pads but not much else.
The cloud 2 are over ear?

Cloud 2’s or cloud alpha s?

The sound on the alphas is better by a mile plus the battery life its not even close
The major difference among two is the battery life, alpha is up to 300 hrs while cloud II is up to 30 hours. I have picked alpha over cloud II.
