The extra $50 is coming from the battery life. They are proud of that. Which, I mean it is amazing. But like you said, just throw them on the charger every now and then and 30 hours of battery is still really good.

Battery life, DTS stamp and the audio is better on the Alpha's from a purely technical standpoint but sound is subjective so it may or may not be worth it to you. Techne for example said he didn't like the warmer and more detailed sound.

I was a bit torn between these two. Coming from the Cloud II wired I wanted something that sounded the same, and felt the same on my head. I bought both, and I'm quite glad I did because I did go into testing both expecting to prefer the Cloud II Wireless, especially after this review. However, not only does the Cloud II Wireless sound significantly worse (just emptier, flatter) than the Cloud II wired, it also isn't as comfortable - they've changed the size of the earcups (which can easily be tested by trying to put a Cloud II earpad on the Cloud II wireless, they slide around freely because they're larger. This means for me personally, my ear end up being squashed up a little and it's not as comfortable. Everything else would be fine, feature wise the Cloud II Wireless and Cloud Alpha Wireless are basically the same anyway.
Onto the Cloud Alpha Wireless though, that thing feels identical to the Cloud II wired on my head honestly. Same level of padding, same size of earpads, more adjustability but I can get it in the same place as my Cloud II wired so I have the same fit basically. It also sounds WAY better to me, better than both the wired and wireless Cloud II variants, so hearing them both I'm surprised that to you the one that's more fun to listen to is the Cloud II Wireless, because I think it's totally the opposite haha. Out of the box with no EQ, everything is just so clear, bass has more impact, but it doesn't drown out the mids or highs, and they're all quite distinct where they just feels to blend together more on the Cloud II wireless. In terms of sound from best to worst I'd say Cloud Alpha Wireless > Cloud II > Cloud II Wireless.
Cloud Alpha of course has it's share of issues with software, but it seems like they can be avoided by not installing the HyperX drivers (still install Ngenuity so that battery % works though). There are other options for the features you miss out on without installing the HyperX drivers, so just use some other software for spatial audio or an EQ if you want them.
So to me, the Cloud Alpha has better sound, way better battery life, is more comfortable, and I actually think it looks better too haha, but I realise that 3 of those 4 points are subjective so YMMV.

Oh, the only thing I do really wish they'd do, is add bluetooth (just so it's easier to use with my Mac honestly, as well as my PC), and add the option of using a 3.5mm cable too. Plenty other headsets support both now.

I'm slightly hard of hearing I rewatched the mic test and my opinion is that the 2's are a little more louder but sounds more like a Zoom call and loudness doesn't help when you have a hard time hearing certain syllables. had the wired cloud 2 then got cloud alpha wireless. biggest thing i noticed was the increase in bass especially sub bass. also a boost to the highs and i wwas fine with it for footsteps in gaming but i mostly have the reduce treble EQ set from the NGENUITY software. i mostly play fps games and dont notice much of a delay when using an EQ through the software. So if you arent actively trying to look for the latency you wont notice it. comfort wise its less comfy because its brand new so the clamping force is greater but the headband is larger which is good for me as i have a bigger head and the cloud 2 never quite fit me just right. also the ear cushions are a little softer. i really like listening to music with these. im not a "basshead" and mostly like a flatter EQ but these make listening to song i frequently listen to sound "fresh" again and fun in a way. if you turn the volume up to like 70 it feels like a mini personal disco party lol. thats the only way i can really describe it. mic sounds great too especially if you tune it with voicemeeter to drop the pitch a little and boost the volume since hyperx m mics are quiter by default (even at max) than some other brands. so using software to boost it i find is quite important for comms in fps games to be heard well. battery life is amazing. bought it a week ago and charged it to 70% its still about 60% after a week of daily 6-8 hr use

But no...third one also has white noise (whooshing sound when silent). So apparently 3/3 Cloud 2 Wireless had this issue. Its a major dealbreaker for me. Sound is subjective but imo its not even close. Alphas are far better tuned as far as base accuracy, imaging and treble clarity. Cloud 2 wins in the mid range, which should make them better suited for some music.
