Hard to say what the right call was for mom. She poisoned her kittens, but at the same time showed them where they were. It was all instinctual and emotional, not truly logical, decion making do what's best love at that point. At the same time she's a cat, so she did what she felt was best for all of them at the time.
Life is so hard for stray cats. So many people leave or dump there cats its sad but happens all the time. I feed 4 fearal cats. Had them all fixed. Vet was not happy when told they were feral so didnt trust them after that and went to another. Vet to get them fixed. I worry for them all the time. I am currently sale my house and hopes of buying a house in the country so I can save them. With god blessing this will be possible. I have faith it will happen.
She couldn't do anything but stay with them, she was dead for 2 days. Thinking about them being in all that rubbish, is really, really upsetting. It could have been that their Mother was trying to eat from all that rubbish, she might have eaten something that poisoned her.............it's too horrible to think about. It's crazy how not even 1 kitten even made a peep while getting rescued. The first kitten looked like it was debating just going to the rescuer. They were abnormally calm for the situation. It almost seems like mommy kitty was still there protecting them while guiding them to the rescuers at the same time. If you all don't agree with me u at least have to admit that their behavior wasn't normal, like at all. Even when fear took over slightly they didn't bolt anywhere. They slowly made their way to just get under some debre to some what hide. The love that momma had for her babies was and is incredible.

Yes, tough to watch but it's so good to hear that they were saved. Life is precious, very precious and should be saved at all costs. Most people could give a hoot and a holler about this, but my wife and myself have rescued probably close to 50 critters. Between going through around 90 to 120 pounds of "critter" food, that's for everything we feed so we call it "critter" food. Before we lost our doggie you could see dogs, cats, guineas, peacocks, possums, raccoons, we never saw an armadillo or a skunk eating but I'm sure they were also chowing down since we've seen skunks and only seen where armadillo's dig up where we end up watering our trees since we're in drought conditions all the time. Yes we live in the country and since we're both animal lovers we feed whatever gets hungry. Recently we saw deer prints so we put out food for them also, nothing to fatten them up to be shot of course just food for them to eat. We have 2 stock tanks so they have water for drinking. My thanks for rescuing these poor babies that have lost their mommy. We've raised kittens with really small baby bottles so they would have a better chance at life. We've also raised 3 baby skunks that didn't even have their eyes open. They were also given a better chance at life themselves. So we're real familiar with raising critters. Our Veterinarian has a 3 ring binder that's about 3 inch wide. So yes, life is precious, very precious and should be saved at all costs if possible, so we do our part for sure...
God, this is just heartbreaking. The mother may have been hit by a car but made it back to her babies before dying in the trash. How I wish they'd have found her earlier so she could have been saved as well. They gave her a beautiful name,, Mercy. I'm so grateful to PAWS. Mother cat gave life as protection. But we feel sorriw for her. May she in some way be together with little kitties again. Its her kids and The bound should never break. We Believe every human and animal need their parents whole life. But sure hero that saved kitties make them heavenly happy. They comparable soul with god and worthy.
Thank you with all of my heart for rescuing these babies. It breaks my heart that the mom didn't make it and that the kittens were trying to nurse off of her. The mom had so much heart that in her last moment she came back to try to care for her babies and give herself to them so that they might survive. Words cannot describe how that makes me feel. Those empty bottles and cans are worth money in California so it doesn't make sense to throw them out like that. Someone should gather them up into a bag and take them to the recycling center and get paid.

It's so upsetting to see how often your rescues are made more difficult by people not being responsible about the area around their homes. Everyone has to keep their property clean for their safety (so many fire hazards!) and the safety of little furry people who might seek shelter with you. 💕

What a tricky rescue. It’s amazing they were all healthy. If you hadn’t got them when you did, that wouldn’t have been the case. Bless you all for the amazing work you do. Please take care of yourselves. You should be using the disposable gloves that protect against needle sticks. There easily could have been worse than beer bottles in that space.

So utterly sad that Mercy passed away.. but thankfully her kittens were rescued in time! Glad for the Good Samaritan that contacted Hope for Paws - otherwise they could have all perished.

Cats are such amazing mothers, not only do they look after their kittens so well, they are often happy to foster other kittens.

Those empty bottles and cans are worth money in California so it doesn't make sense to throw them out like that. Someone should gather them up into a bag and take them to the recycling center and get paid.

Rescues can be very difficult & just heartbreaking - thank you, the entire team, for your selfless efforts in saving as many innocent lives as possible. Thank you for not treating Mercy like trash - as many would because of the crawling maggots & the foul odor. So very happy that the kit-kats are now safe - cared for and protected. It's so upsetting to see how often your rescues are made more difficult by people not being responsible about the area around their homes. Everyone has to keep their property clean for their safety (so many fire hazards!) and the safety of little furry people who might seek shelter with you. 💕

What a tricky rescue. It’s amazing they were all healthy. If you hadn’t got them when you did, that wouldn’t have been the case. Bless you all for the amazing work you do. Please take care of yourselves. You should be using the disposable gloves that protect against needle sticks. There easily could have been worse than beer bottles in that space.

this was a great save and I'm always so impressed by the lengths that you are willing to go to to rescue animals ❤️ no squeamishness but diving right into the trash next to a decomposing body to find each and every kitten to rescue. This type of behaviour is what moved me to start donating and I am honoured to share my name with on of the five you rescued today 🥰
