Such a great video! Really one of your best, most descriptive tutorials!!! Thank you SO much for all your hard work and FREE tutorials! You have seriously got me so obsessed with this whole giant crochet/knitting thing!!!!
WOW, great video and a real talented lady who is artistic in this area & obviously has been doing this a long time since it's so nice. I've never even tried this. I make things out of wood and totally different things but would like to learn maybe at least how to make something basic from these nice videos. Thanks for the upload of the video.
I watched just to see them ginormous needles actually being used!😂 Your hands look tiny in comparison to those needles! Enjoyef the video ❤Big up sis!!❤
Linda, We have been told they are non museled. The Merino wool is from Australia. In 2004, the Australian wool industry agreed to phase out the practice of mulesing. We cannot physically verify this but it is what we have been told. Harvey Koedyker
If I want to make a larger blanket. Howdo I figure out how many stitches to cast on and how many pounds of yarn do I need. I would like to make a full size blanket
Hi. I have two questions. I bought the wool and needles from your website. It says to make a 40 by 60 blanket to use 26 stitches. Is this too much? I also have 5 balls of the Merino wool for this blanket. Will that be enough? Oh! I have a third question! How do you join the balls of Merino as you go along? Thank you.
Lisa, for 40x60 inches super chunky Merino wool blanket you need 18 stitches, not 26. 7 lbs needed for making this size with giant needles, 6 lbs - Arm or Hand knitting. Here is a video showing how to connect the balls: ruclips.net/video/4VxGbhhH9iM/видео.html
Do you have a suggestion for straight needles I want to make a blanket with them but I would like it big enough to use for an adult while laying on the couch??? Basically asking what straight needle sizes would you suggest for this???
When you flip the blanket to do the purl side, do you slip the first stitch purlwise as well? SLip the knit stitch purlwise and slip the purl stitch purlwise? thanks in advance!
how many stitches do I need to make the XXL blanket that's on your video the very last throw as I want one for my bed and to carry round the house to keep warm. thank you x
Could you give me advice? My friend knitted 12 blocks like this big thrown and she's asked me to join them for her because she doesn't know how. Now, I'm an advanced crocheter, but I've never worked with such thick yarn before. So, I would like to know how YOU would go about it. I would think that I should crochet them together instead of sowing them together for a better finish??
I noticed the first row of knit you slid off the stitch. Do you do this for every row both knit and purl or only the knit row? Also the remaining yarn on the cast on row, do I need to do a knot before I weave it in or just weave it in? Wasn't sure if it would start unraveling. Thanks.
I always slid off first stitch in every row: this way there is a beautiful chain on both sizes. The remain stitches are knitted regularly, no need to do a knot.
Hello, is it more regular to do a blanket with arm knitting or with needles? With needles I cannot see the result before the end and I found it very difficult to have regular stitches. What do you think? Thank you very much for your videos
There is a big difference between hand knitting and knitting with giant needles or arm knitting. Hand knitting - the knitting project is in front of you and it is so much easier!
Your video is great, I watched so many tutorials but yours is the only one I need and follow. I have one question. I have 4 kg, that's apx. 9 lbs, of jumbo merino wool. Total length should be around 200 meters, that's apx. 650 feet. How big my blanket could be? How many stitches is that? I tried couple of combinations but I don't really know how to calculate that, and in the instructions of the site I bought my wool from was written that 8.8 lbs is enough for xxl blanket (60-80 inch), but I don't think that's correct.
Thank you, glad you like it! 8.8 lbs is enough for a blanket 50x60 inches. You will need to cast on 20 stitches if arm/hand knitting and 23 stitches if knitting with needles.
I am using size 70 needles, 40 mm in diameter; Size 50 is 25 mm in diameter. You can buy such needles at our store www.becozi.net. You can try to use size 50 but stitches will be much smaller then. It will still be beautiful just not as bulky
@@BeCozi idk why it came to mind, but I ws picturing smthn like strips like torn off of a twin sheet- You're really good at this knitting stuff! So maybe sometime soon- I am going to make a rug out of a sheet. Mayyyybe Lol. If anyone else wants to try it, please do!

I might just be stupid, but does she mean 30x40 inches or rows
30x40 inches - measurements of a blanket.3 lbs needed. Get the wool at becozi.net
Love the tutorial and the blanket looks fantastic but I just want to know if the yarn is from non museled sheep many thanks Linda

It depends on the yarn you will be using, specifically the thickness of the yarn
When you flip the blanket to do the purl side, do you slip the first stitch purlwise as well? SLip the knit stitch purlwise and slip the purl stitch purlwise? thanks in advance!
Patricia, yes, slipping/skipping the first stitch in every row, purled or knitted

For XXL blanket you need 22-24 stitches
Stacey Barham I can relate to having a blanket for around the house ( for me all year round)

Hello Urcula, I am not sure what 12 blocks means and why they need to be joined. Do you mean 12 small blankets to be joined into one big one?
those are the biggest needels I have ever seen
they are big!

Did you slightly felt the roving before knitting?
The only slight felting I did, was rubbing it between my hands while unwinding the wool
Anna Bailey
why is it 30/2.5? how would that translate to other yarn and needle sizes?
We are giving the divider for our yarn and needles: 2.5
what kind/size of needles are you using here? would size 50 needles work?

Anywhere I can buy super thick (40 mm) needles? I can only find them for around £40 and I really don't want to spend that much
Caitlyn, we have giant needles (40mm) on www.becozi.net but they are $45. They are quite hard to make.
I've seen giant needles at Michael's and Hobby Lobby. I got mine from BeCozi because they have quality merchandise with superior wood.
Where can I buy that type of yarn and how many yards should I buy for a large blanket Thank you Susan
Victoria, you can buy it at becozi.net and you need 6 lbs for a medium size blanket 40x60 inches

How many pounds of wool did u use for this blanket??
3 lbs, 30x40 inches blanket
Suppose this has to be dry-cleaned?
Yes, dry cleaning is the best option
Stuff is lovely, but given both the expense of dry-cleaning and the ecological cost, I always resist the urge.
Great teacher!

Is the wool a softer wool or a more coarse wool?
Our wool from becozi.net is extremely soft, the softest wool in the world)
